This is what mine looked like after i took it off and before i painted it.............its really thick metal so a bit of surface rust wont hurt.............. :salute:

I just got quoted that £1100 from direct line............. :cuckoo: Im 38, 4 years no claims with three points for speeding coming off in August.........

It bolts onto the bar then the other end is a small bush with a bolt through it attaching it to the wishbone. I tried a mk3 golf vr6 with polybushes and quite liked it, i'll give it a go if not then revert back to rubber..... :camp: It was more a question of mixing rubber and poly on the same wishbone, perhaps not a good idea decided to go full poly, i like my dampers quite hard and it seems to float around a bit even on new oe rubber Cheers anyway............ :salute:

Any help anyone?

I got two pictures first is the original bush untouched as it came out of the factory, the second is a new bush fitted by an independant VW place.2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf04042009153 (Medium).jpg[/attachment:28ast608] They look like they have been pushed in the same, ie all the way in giving maybe the 8mm sticking out on the outside, i left the mounting in place and just refitted although it was quite tight and needed some fettling.

Looks like im getting a bit sentimental in my old age............... :ignore:
-
That doesnt make any sense why would you have to be so precise with your bush to beam fitting if your just going to take the mounting brackets off anyway ? Makes more sense getting the bush to beam fitting right so you dont have to take the mounting brackets off?

Does anyone know if powerflex do a bush for the drop link on the front arb? Or am i better of getting a normal rubber one from the stealers? Can you buy them seperate? My drop links are fine just the bush that doesnt look that good. Also while im at it i ordered a front wishbone, rear, powerflex bush but have an genuine vw rubber front bush (only bout a year old) do you reckon this would be ok or should i go fully poly? The car isnt my daily, just a project/summer car so dont care much about comfort, just want it sharp handling. Any help/input would be appreciated, cheers.

When you come to sell it maybe lose the phrase "totally original" because you went on to mention refurbed 288's a glass sunroof etc............Last bit of advice dont sell it, i would rather be sleeping in a cardboard box than sell my car. As my Dad would say its worth what someone is willing to pay for it probably about £4k but what other car could you get for that money ? A second hand Mondeo ? Just me 2p worth......

It would be best to change all top mounts and replace the front top mounts bearings as well, i changed my suspension (from totally original to fk sportline coilovers) about the same time as you and have never looked back . If you have a good read of this thread you'll get good guidance, a good spring and t/a shock combo will transform how the car drives, you'll never regret getting rid of the 4x4 ride height..............and you'll never wallow round another corner again...............

Good stuff matey, mine still in loads of bits i opted for the vibra front engine mount and vag for the other two, it seems from this forum anyway that thats the way to go. Anything must be better than 17 year old rubber !!
-
Yea good one, it is interesting to see our cars with different style/colour wheels, i wasnt sure about black but in the flesh they look good, stick some pics up matey...............

YES IT WILL To remove the bottom bit in my photo or the cross member (the bit the front engine mount sits on) you have to undo the bolts that hold the bumper on as they hold the lot on, but you can leave the bumper in place or just slide it out a touch............putting the fans back on the rad in-situ would be uber fiddly, as above would remove slam panel at least to give good access........
-
^^^ As above top bloke, and i nearly fell of the sofa when i saw him on "Wheeler Dealers" he was doing the interior on a Bentley, cant get higher praise than that !!
-
It is possible but quite fiddly, it may be easier to take the top bit off (slam panel ??) which holds the headlights as it gives easier access.....
-
I got the same wheels as you as well mate, this is what they look like in black what do ya think?2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf19092009324 (Medium).jpg[/attachment:t4ci6pn2]

Had a CAT 1 alarm fitted by Andy (trim wizard) and he said my car was the best condition Corrado he'd ever seen (maybe he was talking about the wiring.... )..............

Had a CAT 1 alarm fitted by Andy (trim wizard) today cost me £275 which i thought was reasonable, it is a cobra alarm, really knows his onions, time will tell if its any good. Took about 4 1/2 hours and he had the loom already made up, i did tell him to take his time.

When i removed the fuel tank on mine i found a patch where the catch for the fuel flap goes through the wheel arch its hiding behind the fuel tank neck so a really difficult spot................
-
How long have those FKs been fitted? About two years now.............................

Can you tell us then how the KW's compare to the FK's ? Is it just finish and the quality feel or do they really work better ? I have the FK sportline edition and they really do work well, but they dont seem to be sprung too strongly, the damper settings make a mahoosive difference. I have taken my time setting them to my liking unfortunately the finish is terrible the powdercoating on the springs have started to peel and the springs have started going rusty, bearing in mind its purely a summer car its really quite poor this is how they look after a year (old photo now) ;
-
Yea ive got these coilies on mine, i can only compare them with OE struts as they are the only two suspension set-ups ive tried. The handling improved dramatically, cornering is much improved much less roll than standard (but i did drop it quite a bit). they are quite hard and i end up bouncing up and down in the seat. The finish isnt great the zinc plating looks knackered only after a year, although they havent seized up (yet). I got them for £400 in a group buy on the VR6 OC................ :) sound, how much does the adjustible damping actually work or carnt you tell the diffrence between each setting realy Yea you can mate it comes with a little adjuster a six point adjustment but in reality you can pretty much get them either boneshakingly hard or so soft it feels like theres no shocks on the car (makes you feel sea sick bouncing everywhere). I started off really hard (ooh err) then gradually (inevitably) got softer..............

If it was leaking at the exhaust manifold then it would make a strange ticking noise, if it was timing then the noise would appear to come from the inlet manifold. When my exhaust manifold was leaking (on another car) i really thought it was coming from the downpipe . I would check the exhaust mani bolts then work to the back, downpipe and all the other joints, in a garage because of echoe it may be difficult to assess...............

There is quite a fine thread on those fellas as well........................ :)
