  1. The offset of the original alloys are 43et. What would help is also knowing the width of these wheels, the oe speedies are 6.5 j so if they are say 7j they would stick out a bit more with the same et. Hopefully what i have said is correct, have a swot up and work it out there are some good guides on the internet for explaining it all. http://www.rimstyle.com/pages/alloy_wheels_explained.html Ok so if they are 7j that is 7" wide they are 1/2" wider than OE (6mm each side) so would stick out 6mm further than OE speedies with the same et. With an et of 35 they are 8mm closer to the car, which means the centre line of the wheel looking from above is 8mm closer to the car, the inside edge of the wheel is plus 6mm with the width increase which makes 6mm + 8mm = 14mm. On the outside edge they are 2mm towards the car -8mm + 6mm = -2mm So the inside edge is 14mm toward the car, the centre line of the car looking from above is 8mm toward the car, and the outside edge is 2mm toward the car. Perhaps someone can come along and check my maths !!
  2. I do like red cars with black wheels.......... Top tip have a look under the front you want your wishbones parallel with the subframe any lower and it has dramatic effects on the handling, good luck mate :thumbleft:
  3. It looks like it only happens on Internet Explorer, i use Opera and am unaffected, maybe the affected people could tell us what browser they are on, to narrow it down a tad ?
  4. .........only if its next to the word fisting or bandit...........
  5. Maybe someone should PM a mod and see what the score is...........
  6. Emu was obviously not interested himself, so did the right thing by spreading the news, who's reading this anyway ? Just me, you, Emu and my cat at the moment.
  7. That really does look like some sort of malware to be doing that, the question is, is it your computer or the forum server, i have had no such problem, run malwarebytes just to rule out your own machines.

    Lumpy VR6

Mate its not difficult, just have a go.
  9. I am also registering an interest, dependent on how things progress.
  10. The recaro's do look a bit knackered but with a bit of cash thrown at them might come good. What struck me about this advert though was when he said "I will not be held responsible for any errors in description!" that to me is wrong, the item i thought needs to be "as described" so in effect what he is saying is "you can't trust any part of the description" so he's words are meaningless, or have i got that wrong ?
  11. Oh man ! Now i feel sorry for this car, and some of the cruel wicked things i said about it........ :silent:
  12. I think thats a rock we should not look under............
  13. Mmm i seem to have divided opinion, my point is in the last line, that when you come to sell a car any imperfections are just telling people you havent got round to fixing it. Yes my car has a very small amount of rust, but i have treated it, and every three years treat it again so it doesnt spread. What the advert makes it sound like is that there is untreated rust which he has done nothing about, thats how i read it anyway.
  14. It appears evident to anyone reading this that the deep divisions remain, its up to the members on here to keep this forum going, i will gladly increase my contribution to keep it going so that this forum can "stand on its own two feet" Do we get lottery funding or something, or do we have a multi-millionare backing us ? Or is it just people like me a donator thats keeps us afloat ? Im confused.
  15. Bad points ; every 18 year old car has them : Rust. Erm no they dont, its called hard work it gets rid of rust. 1) Get an old car 2) Dont do any work on it. 3) It gets rusty. OR 1) Get an old car. 2) Spend lots of time and money keeping it nice. 3) It stays nice. Any car you sell which has work that needs doing, is only advertising the fact that you cant be bothered.
  16. Hello Bearclaw, not many people on here from the US of A i dont think, so warm welcome :thumbleft:
  17. My opinion is purely based on "image" in other words what the ccgb looks like to me. I am not doubting they are a good bunch of people, as you say there is a lot of overlap, and im not trying to say they do a bad job, i tried to say it without being too obtuse is that the forum is enough for me thats all. Cant knock, wont knock, and dont want to look like im knocking someone elses good work, tis not for me thats all. In an egg. Plus a bag. :bonk:
  18. Then they'll know how fast you were going and when, obviously not a problem if you never speed, where would you draw the line? Who would pay for that, it wouldnt be them would it ? Knock for knock is so common place because its so expensive to fight, especially when its one persons word against another, its just not worth it to them. We will end up with car's that drive themselves and drivers just press a couple of buttons, when humans are involved mistakes are always going to happen, i think what we have at the moment covers most bases. Insurance fraud on the other hand is costing us all a lot, tougher sentences is the only way to stop it, not just a couple of months in a cushy open prison.
  19. The force is strong in this one............. :smug:
  20. No such thing as loyalty anymore, that costs you money. So VR6 you spent two hours and saved yourself £200, thats £100 an hour i would say thats time well spent. They are all money grabbing barstards, but with a bit of intelligence and work the results are worth it. I did the same, £533 for my alfa 156 2.5 from octagon, spent an hour or so on every comparison site, subjecting my e-mail address to months of pointless spam, just to find out the best price i could find was you guessed it, octagon at £533. Time spent one hour, at a rate of £0 per hour -- bugger !
  21. Don't forget though there is a HUGE amount of information on here, almost too much and as a previous poster has said can be bewildering. Maybe people don't want to do lets say a members/build thread because what they are doing has been done before, the days of ground breaking mods are far behind us.
  22. Im 41, i think Jim is a bit younger, im firmly in my second childhood.......... :smug: Getting back on topic, i think the suspension set up you have plays a big part on how poly bushes react.
  23. I also like the poly bushes i have, i think Jim is showing his age............:smug:
  24. When i think of the ccgb i get the impression that its quite stiff and pompous, that may well be just the image it gives, which puts me off. I went to a show once, its not my cup of tea although the people were excellent (it was run by the VR6oc) so unless you go to a few shows a year i cant see the point in joining. I dont mean to be disrespectful to the ccgb just giving my point of view. When i joined five years ago it was a different place with a backbone of regular posters, therein lies the problem, you can all too easily end up with an "inner-core" and people like me on the outside, are just that, on the outside. However i think this forum, like many of us, has mellowed with age, it seems more inclusive which is no bad thing.
  25. Do you have evidence of this ? What happens ?
