A comment like that really doesn't deserve any answer, its easy to react to but it isn't worth it, people who read the whole thread will realise how lucky you were, and will hopefully focus on that, rather than blaming or finger pointing. Have a look at the car then report back, we, i would have thought, are all interested on the reason for this failure.

I'm not sure i would have picked up on the brake hoses being too short, even if i had checked it, maybe frayed/leaking you would spot. Either way apart from brown trousers, to get away with it unscathed (you and the car) is lucky indeed, its something i would be happy about. Its a bit too easy to start pointing the finger or blaming yourself (or other people blaming you) for not checking, someone was looking over you that day, and thats the most important thing.

Now if you had two bit of wire hanging out of the dash board with handles on, that'll be exciting it'd be a bit like a go-cart you had when you were a kid. Is that not what steering by wire means ?

That is good news indeed, it'd be a real shame for people like you to disappear not only from a banter point of view, but also for the knowledge you pass on, without such i wouldn't have had the confidence to do much of what i've done to my car. Don't want to appear too arselicky, but when a few of the most experienced members disappear it could change the landscape of the forum forever.

I would be more inclined to be asking where has it been sitting for most of its life, i have said this before an average car with average mileage is sat for 97% of it life, the figure for this car is higher. Bushes come and go i have had two new sets in 9k, you will still have the crack pipe/thermo housing falling apart, a rusty crossmember, engine mounts past their best, and lots more depending on where its been kept. A good project for someone but don't automatically think lower mileage--better car it doesn't work like that.

Good info there buddy, to be honest it would be something i bought and fitted in a year or two when i would replace the bearings on my gearbox, lots of other things to do first like fit the cams i bought a month ago and the schrick which has been under my bed for two years.........you get the picture

daleyboy replied to GlosterOx's topic in Parts for Sale
It looks to me that you can buy these for around the £30 mark, but please don't let me interrupt your :fondle:.......... -
I think this may be scaremongering, the end of the world i can except, a world with no bacon, is a world with no hope..........
-
Mine came this morning, cheers Bill :salute:

The mot is just a technicality, that has to be worth £3-4k especially with that interior and mileage. That is just ripe for restoration and someone would snap it up and love it.

A manifold leak would sound like tapping or clicking which you would hear on idle, unless the manifold has been taken off i wouldn't suspect the gasket, i think you're gonna have to get your head round the back of the engine and have a listen.

Just paid, did it by paypal, i added my username, well done for doing all this Bill :thumbleft:
-
I tend to get the biggest one that'll fit in the hole..........maybe the limit of my knowledge, but i didnt think there was a upper limit just a lower limit of what you should get. i think mine is a 72 amp hours.

It would suggest that your wheels are naturally unbalanced, i would say its either damage or down to the quality of the wheels, i wouldn't have thought it was down to the quality of the company that balanced it, as the weights are grouped quite tightly.

You have already been turned, don't let them get to you, your remarks are blasphemous, please stop before you influence the most vulnerable in our forum............ I think the mod's should investigate this man, and stop him before its too late......... -
Definitely give it some time, although the length of the brake peddle wont change they will get a lot sharper in time, i would drive it for a week or so and if you don't get a marked improvement then re-bleed.

There is always one....No thats interesting mate i would never have thought of doing that, you must have got your hands dirty at one point though ??

"Lateral force compensating " thats a good one, does that just mean harder ?? It may have been easier just to make the front roll bar 2mm thicker and to stiffen up that useless bar in the rear beam................
