Do it, could do with some nice computer flow info for a G60.. Not allowed to, have to do a screw compressor type water pump. Lame :| @Stu, since when are feet per minute useful units of speed? :hitler:

ace  I'll have to have a flick back through :salute:

*perks up* engineering content! I must have a flick through.

Well, I did get it aligned this morning just so I could use it to move some stuff out of Prod's house and into my new student place, but as the MOT runs out tonight I have left it over there on the drive. Car ran really well, oil temp peaked at 106 on the way over there this morning but on the way back barely passed 102 so it's all back to normal I think  will have a look at the head gasket another time I think. Also got the alignment place to push my cross-member bushes in which they included in the labour for the alignment! Top job  Hopefully be over in my new place properly this weekend, and work will recommence on the plum in between uni stuff :|

SO the plum is back down on it's wheels, and working quite well. We adjusted the rack this evening, got it set the same on both sides but with some massive toe out, so we decided to give it another go. Readjusted it and it's now got too much toe-in :gag: so we're gonna readjust it so it's driveable and then take it for alignment tomorrow hopefully... Although... the MOT runs out after tomorrow (last day) so I may not get it aligned...but I do need to move the car. Perhaps I will just adjust it again so it's movable. Coolant system seems completely fine which is good news. PAS system still off the car, but rack is fine to work 'dry' as it's generously lubricated inside the pinion. It'll be fine to move 1 mile to the other house anyways, then back up on the stands. A shame now it's driveable again, but the rear beam needs swapping out. Ho hum. More updates as and when, will try to get UJ photos up tomorrow.

red tails on black Cs looks soooooo good. That would be my ideal colour scheme if mine wasn't DBP.

I'd be impressed if you managed it though  :notworthy:

You're way more likely, logistically speaking, to throw a rod (than a piston) through a bore wall Si!

Yeah, there's no diagnostics for the early valvers mate! Think your electrician is smokin the good stuff.

like a tdi.

Shame there isn't 4 forced induction threads about 'charged engines. Oh wait, there is :|
-
:salute: thanks for the update. I might have some euro belts kicking about I can send you. Drop me a PM as a reminder to check. Hope fatherhood is treatin you right"!

Weeheheheelllll, look who drop kicked this thread in the crotch! Engineering = :luvlove: I would comment more but I have a engine dyno lab at the mo (diesel :/ ) and ICBA to go back about 5-6 posts and start quoting stuff. but, undersquare IS bikes, and oversquare IS cars. That's it in a nutshell. Gotta go!

Could it not be a G40 head? Hmmm... Maybe it is a non-sporty model like perhaps an early mk3 1.4 or some such? not worth turboing per se but you know those Yanks!
-
Would have been nice to have got the 280s put on at the same time, but can't stretch to discs and pads plus the calipers are in dire need of an overhaul!
-
I hope so, would be nice to resurrect it! sold that Mk2 Golf Subframe on the bay for a criminally low price but at least it's income.
-
worth sanding / filing back the proper flat edges where the pads seat after you paint if you painted them, but you can tell which those are.
-
No and not sure! Been at uni all day mate, plus I got a 9-8 tomorrow :| U/J tried to be delivered today so I will have to pick that up sometime. MOT runs out friday but it's not getting retested anytime soon, needs the rear beam doing yet. As long as I can sort the steering out, it's coming off the stands ASAP and driven over to the new house where it will go back on the stands! :drinking:
-
i painted my rear caliper with an old hose and old bleed nipple in, then you can go nuts with the paint and just throw those 2 items away after preserving good threads.

vagcat isn't 100% perfect, I prob have £20 worth of little niggly parts that vagcat said are the right ones which aren't quite.

Hi Kip, still awaiting my forum confirmation from months and months ago :pale: eager to catch up with any previous owners of the plum! Thanks for all the help, Jon :salute: edit: Just re-registered, hope that helps

Woah, what a picture post! I was gonna comment on something earlier but I can't remember what it was. Oh yeah, welds. Nice welding work  -
Oh. Thanks. :| Any that have been finished/updated within the last calendar year?
