After our discovery of a lack of the E/W control module, Prodigal bought me one on the sly :salute: :notworthy: what a bro! He also bought me some window looms from Mrbiege too  Only thing I was missing was the loom from fusebox to module in the rear doorcard...enter my spare loom: Pulled this from the breaker before we cut it up, a very good idea I think! Located loom section I need. Cool :D Decided to tidy up the rest of the loom; seperated it too where applicable. Hoping to label all these bits up so we know what they are for. Not bad for an electro-tard huh  I'll need to sort the windows for the MOT anyways, so might as well add it to the list of things to do :salute:

You're not ready for that yet? Can't see your car passing MOT without the wiring mod i'm afraid mate so you better get ready! you can't just swap out a relay to fix this issue, but it's not much harder than that.

Those are the low pressure and high pressure switches I'm pretty sure. You should be able to disconnect the wire (yellow or blue IIRC) unscrew the oil switch and screw a new one in. The oil temp sensor is round the back of the cylinder head, near the distributor :salute:

You have PM ;)

BMW 1-Series Coupe - What does everyone think ?
boost monkey replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in General Car Chat
^^^ good points! I like the 1 series, it looks quite nice - is it Bangle inspired? looks like it has the same 'awkward' boot as the bigger cars. Up to you at the end of the day Phil, have you driven the Beem yet? I'd deffo go for a test drive, else you'll be kicking yourself if you get one and it turns out to be less than you hoped AND you'd already sold the Leon. -
Corrado parts are 535 Kev, is that what you meant or have I missed something here? I have soooo many little bags of bits with 535 or 191 printed on them at the mo

Good to see you back mate, glad your car cover kept the brakes shinee!

What's wrong with the back of that TT? I can't quite put my finger on it  smoothed a lot or something?
-
Nice car, I didn't think much of my Mk1 and never bothered putting a 16v in it. Any more pics of the track thrash, Tom?

Hi guys, I've been spotting a blue H reg G60 around oxford from time to time now, but today I saw it in the uni carpark! does anyone know who owns it? It's H*** OVL I think, doesn't have a radiator grille and you can see a cheeky mocal sitting in front of the radiator. I would have flagged him down today, but I was in my mate's clio... didn't quite have the pace  Any info appreciated. I'll try and leave him a note next time I see him.

Dec, it says Heckspoilersteuerung on :thumb right:

Good stuff :D The Peugeot XU9 engine series have pheonominally well flowing cylinder heads for a production 16v. I shoehorned an XU9J4 (aka Mi16) into my old 205 GTi, and it was insane! 1.9 litre and 160hp as standard, that's 84hp per litre  34.6mm inlet valves equal a lot of power from a roadgoing engine. The only head that outflows it would be the Cosworth YB; although i'm guessing the 20v might flow near as well... and perhaps some other more recent engines.

You would have been better with high-end springs and shocks than low-end coilovers mate, but looks like Kev has answered your question. I'd never ever recommend stretched tyres unless you like death.
-
Ah yeah, number two has arrived! good work :D Fraid not matey, they were a LOT softer than standard, I could fully compress them by standing on it! The standards compress about 1" and then go rock hard, so they've gone on the front and will go on the back too. I managed to move that kit on though so it's all good
-
Cheers Andy, yeah I'm hoping it'll drive much much better. Gonna look like a pram over winter until I can sort some nice springs, but it'll still be better than before. Just the drivetrain to sort after this! you're right about never being finished, always something else you want to do! how is the VRS working out? RARB en route I hear? ;)
-
yes it is. I'll raise Adz's GTi-6 for a Rallye.

Cheers pete, if you flick back a few pages you will see I have a fresh new beam to build up, but it has empty "ears" on? perhaps previous owner cut the rubber bush part out and left the ears on the bar. Didn't realise they needed removing! Just tried hitting one of them with a hammer, made a satisfying CLANG sound but didn't budge....hmmm.. Will prob farm rear bush fitting out to the garage!
-
Don't listen to the filthy one! I think they look good. I might just go for some cheapy 14" steels over winter though, esp as i'd need new tyres!

Went round to pick up my water pump pulley, STILL THE WRONG PART!!1!!!!!omg. Got matey bob to order the OFFICIAL ETKA item so if it's wrong now it's Germany's fault (joke, i'm not racist). Did get a nice £40 refund for the 2 spring plates and wrong pulley though  J-unit.

Ouch, freshness ahoy! Boxes o' fun. Handbrake cables and rear shocks. Turbos up front, advantage at the back. Ace  Forgot the shocks would come with lower spring plates so I'm taking the VAG ones back (£10 each!) Box of the other bits - brake suspension and drivetrain items. Suspension - bumpstops, boots, spring top plates and all 4 rubber mounts Rear bushes and fixings - didn't know these would come with their "ears" on, do I need to modify my beam to fit them? Brakes - flexi hoses, discs, pads, bearing kits and 1 stub axle (other one still in Germany). All for less than £280 delivered :salute: All I need now is copper brake lines and the brake pressure regulator and I have EVERYTHING for the rear beam

Hi Paddy, this has been covered a lot before, you really should use the search! The flange is called a...er... coolant flange, but it's not rubber, it's hard plastic. The hose is rubber. You can get them from VW, GSF or ECP or any other good well-known auto factors. The hole over the gearbox is called the inspection hole and yes it should have a little plastic bung/cover to stop things falling in. You may still be able to pick that up from VW. The hole is used primarily to set the ignition timing using a stroboscopic light source. Jon. p.s. those aren't the gears of the gearbox you can see, it's the teeth on the flywheel. There is no way you can see the gears inside the gearbox unless you take it apart.

When you were just a whipper snapper right? We're modelling screw pumps this term, I'm sorely tempted to ask if I can model a G-lader :norty:
