Good advice Rob. Looks like I'll have work through september, but then things will REALLY slow down in october with uni starting up again, which is GUTTING cos it's MOT time. Luckily the new landlord is into motorsport and said I could leave the car up on stands on the drive if need be. Result :D

@Andi, yeah, those are my same Gola velcros that appear in most of my bird's eye view pics! :salute: @Rob, what ever do you mean? They're turbos are they? I think me dropping £££s on actual turbochargers at the moment would be the most pointless thing, unless I wanted some Garrett paperweights :cuckoo:    Yeah I'll be assembling this weekend all being well
-
   Sorry, but it had to be done  Yeah, really need to crack on now. VW bits and bobs should be in tomorrow - stone guards for the hubs, random bolts and fixings which always need buying! really hoping the shocks don't sit mile high with standard springs, guess there's only one way to find out  must remember to get the alignment done too as it'll be having a new steering rack. Hmm.

So, my turbos arrived... that's right... Boge Turbos 8)          I just couldn't resist taking this... Oooh....aaaahhh.... plenty of packaging. two more turbos to add to the turbos on the back... don't think it's quite a Veyron though  Matt black... they look SO GOOD  Cooking with gas. I can't compress them much.... which is nice  Ouch. I should probably waxoyl these before they go on, judging by what old dampers look like :gag: Sign of quality from Mr. Boge :salute: If Marty McFly was here, he'd say "Are you trying to tell me these suckers are gas powered?!" The setup. Bump stops and springs are in the shed; VW box has new dust shroud things in. Topran boxes have some VAG washers etc in too. As Ron Burgundy said, "Let the games begiiin... heyooo!"

Otter waffle powerZ!

35+mpg from the tank AND MFA?! We have a winner....
-
I only have one working rear caliper. I am so cool.
-
That was just to grab someone's attention really :) I like the standard stuff! The setup on my valver is tired and worn, but it doesn't feel like it will let go the second I go round a corner or anything like that. Blue H&R springs....cheers Steve, I will go have a look at them!
-
GSF attempted to deliver my shocks at 2pm today! Pretty quick seeing as I didn't plump for next day delivery. Unfortunately I was out, but they will try again tomorrow. Otherwise the depot is up next to VW anyways.

VW order will be in saturday morning.
-
they slide off I think, cos they're held in place by a little table-top looking thing. If you slide them along they will just fall off.
-
Ordered new fuel filter, dizzy cap, rotor arm, and spark plugs this morning from Febi. Think my leads are ok as they're kinda new, plus I have a new ignition coil to go on too. Just off up to VW to order some brake seals, misc. bolts etc :salute:

Had a look through the diagrams and that's looking promising mate. Sorry it's not a definite answer.
-
Cheers mike, coming through as always! Yeah I bought VAG top plates for my car so they will be earlies no doubt, along with early top mounts so I'm hoping they will all fit together right nice :-)

Awesome stuff Jonathan, still watching this thread with interest!

I know standard suspension is a taboo subject, but.... anyone?
-
Hi suspension peeps, does anyone know the specifics between the colour codes on standard front springs (and rears, but I'm asking about fronts!) VAGCAT does explain it a bit, but I am trying to work out which are better to use on my early valver. I have a set of Orange Orange Greys, and a set of White White Orange. The OOGs are shorted than the WWOs, but they all feel like the same stiffness. Based on this I think I'm gonna use the OOGs as they are shorter, or is this a bad idea? AFAIK these are std early fitment whereas the OOGs are from the 92 spec that got binned.

Cheers bro  I did go for a drive yesterday, but didn't really give it beans in case it went funny. I should order a new volt reg really! maybe some VDO gauges.... who needs a radio?
-
Ha ha yeah, do it! If you're familiar with the A34 side, you prob won't know where I am as it's diametrically opposite  but yeah, drop me a PM when you're next about or something
-
Cheers Sean, yeah do pop by, I'm real close to the TAVR centre just off the east section of the ring road.
-
Just ordered front Gas shocks from GSF. They're Best Quality gas ones, so I'm hoping they might be billybobs, else they should be boge/boge turbos. Hopefully will be here for the weekend
-
Ah cheers dec :salute: Sorry for the delays, I've been camping ( :camp: ) in somerset over a long bank hol weekend! Looking at funds this morning, I think...... I *think* I might be able to place an order for front shocks, which means the front end is going onnnn!!   I've had all the other strut items here for ages (springs, top plates, mounts, all the fiddly washers etc!) so well looking forward to getting them rigged up and getting on with it :salute:

Ohhh hello!! Bent the tacho cleanly past 6000 this morning, almost 6500 and IIRC the hard limit is 6600...nice to know the cobwebs are out now
-
Ha ha yeah! It's on the back burner in next doors BBQ :cuckoo:
-
Ta :salute: It's the long term plan. I would like to bare metal it at some point too, sort ALL the bodywork but that is on the backmost burner!
