 yeah, It was the wheels that made me realise you were the matey on here and DCO. Looks like a nice car, no doubt you'll be chuffed with the VR!
-
Hey graham, not sure if you noticed but you passed me this evening on my way home from work. 5:15 ish, you were going towards headington roundabout?
-
Yeah, surely it's a 7 woman hot tub? Good work though! Moves fridges a treat too

New car acquired! Still German but not VW...

Any chance of links to the hi-res photos? They're next level good. -
 I'm right about something?

skateboards are awesome for moving stuff like this. Regularly use one to move engines/gearboxes out from under the car and vice versa!

yeah ~300lbs, so 140kg ish as Kevs says. Deffo hire a crane though, it's not really worth the aggro of lifting it yourself and trying to align engine mounts is a major PITA without one as fla said.

From the NOS FAQ on their site: superchargers compress the incoming air, thus heating it. With the injection of nitrous, a tremendous intercooling effect reduces intake charge temperatures by 75 degrees or more. Boost is usually increased as well; adding to even more power. Nitrous oxide (chemical name dinitrogen monoxide) cools intake temps, so why would you inject it into the air intake before the supercharger? The G will just heat the whole lot up before the IC attempts to cool it down again. IMHO, inject AFTER the intercooler and reduce the intake temps in the manifold even further :salute:

ditto on money pit mk1s. My mars red looked perfect from the outside, but when I pulled thr 1 litre engine out and waiped the grime off the inner wings, I saw that they had been lightened....by salt water  IMHO, you'll end up with 2 projects... :|

 Opinions is opinions - no need to say something on a forum that you wouldn't say face to face IMO. Regarding the Mk5 R32... where did all that chrome tat come from? I actually thought someone riced theirs until I started seeing it on a lot of others. :gag:

The definitive "what exhaust?" discussion thread!

:brickwall: gotta remember to check those bad boys within 30 miles of the wheel being off! :salute: Sorry to see it caused so much damage though.

New To The Corrado Forum - Anyone Help Me?
boost monkey replied to don_stavrou's topic in Engine Bay
Sell your house, Sell a kidney, sell promises to illegal immigrants. Then, you might just have enough money to start a corrado project! :cuckoo: :gag: Seriously though, always overbudget for stuff cos you'll always run into problems. Check out the Forced Induction 16v thread too, very very good information on there :salute: -
Interesting MFA Diagnostics result for KR 16v
boost monkey replied to boost monkey's topic in Engine Bay
Really comprehensive as usual Yan, cheers :salute: So my vac reading of 75 is ok as it's the 'intake manifold vacuum in mbar'? That's good to know. I'm thinking maybe my MMPG is getting thrown out by the rev counter then cos it's very sporadic and jumps all over the place. Is this symptomatic of a bad ground or just a dodgy connection? I'm 99.9% sure the signal lead is the one with the 2 white single wire connectors on that hangs out around the coil, but they're seized together. perhaps the contacts have corroded, which is why the needle jumps around (~500rpm either way from proper value...only on occasion though) and why i can't get them apart! Bay needs rewiring anyways, so If it' a dodgy wire I'll leave it for now... dodgy tach isn't an MOT fail is it? -
Was I the only mod to not attend? I have to say I blew you guys off ( :camp: ) to see Batman though, which rates as highly as VAG meets  Sounds like you had an awesome one, get the photos up asap!

There is no easy way to sort such things I'm afraid Stu: most Corrado wiring looms seem to have been butchered in the past  I'm also less and less surprised that there are people with car keys that only do 2 of 4 locks (tailgate, driver door, passenger door, ignition). Mine is like that (ignition key only does tailgate too!), and I hardly ever take the spare door keys with me (although if the remote central locking died, I'd need the spare for the doors and then the main key for the ignition :cuckoo: )...so strange. Can you get some pictures up of the wiring? that might at least help some people diagnose the problem. Otherwise this is a very good time to send the car to an auto electrician IMHO....but I hate electronics :pale:

Wiki is pretty much people's opinion as opposed to hard fact most of the time. Lots of people view it as such as we're not even allowed to reference it at uni because of this. Interesting to read what people think started the genre though :D

You're right on the Dolly Kev, deffo first production 16v engine. The Sunbeam was a fruity ass car, hardly any around these days too. I would think it was definitely a contender.

Got the bearing last night and it's really tight. Way less play axially and side to side, plus it doesn't spin freely and makes a nice shhh noise if you push it round  Garage charged £25+vat which is double what I expected, but maybe I misunderstood their labour charges :| Oh well, it's done now. Also, I went fishing pretty hard on a wet roundabout last night, tried to catch it but ended up doing a little wiggle and then saw the traffic behind shrink back! Must remember the Loud Pedal Straightening technique for L.O.O. moments (ah, what an apt acronym)
-
Garage called to say they had done the bearing at 3pm! Awesome. Prodigal Son has offered to pick it up to save my poverty petrol, so I will recompense him on receipt (cheers bro!) :salute:

Mmm, I have to say I do like the Mk1. Shame good ones are so costly. I bought a shell in Mars Red back in the day which looked gorgeous but was rotting from the inside out. I'd like a really early one with the small rear clusters, they look nice. A top speed of 52mph would mean it'll be redlining at the legal minimum motorway speed!
-
The Mk2 is automatically gooder because I owned one. VW wanted me to own a Mk1 on it's release but unfortunately I hadn't been invented yet and the Mk1 suffered as a result  seriously though, I think the Mk2 is a good evolution. It may not be better, but I don't think it's worse. It gave us the 16v engine after all? Disclaimer: I am probably wrong.
-
I'm seeing a pattern here: Mk1- Good Mk2 - Gooder Mk3 - Uggo Mk4 - Meh... Mk5 - Good Mk6 - Uggo maybe problems DO come in (multiples of) 3!

This engine would be.... a VR6?
