That's standard price mate, nothing really cheap about that. It's not hard at all to do, just make sure you line those two pins up withe the cam drive on the end of the camshaft.

the other side of the dizzy is where the dizzy cap goes, so you prob know what it looks like? Yes will come with the hall sender (if the hall sender is the little black 3-pin connecter bit sticking out of the side)

Imagination time: Corrado colour schemes you like
boost monkey replied to boost monkey's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah, think the filter is off on that wheel pic. IIRC, should be scarlet (tornado) red on matt black wheel. I really wanna mock this up, I think it could look seriously good. Lambo orange on black wheels (fat 6 spokes spring to mind?) would look NEXT LEVEL good    Lambo V10 also? 8) -
Power to weight ratio would tell me the VR6 will be more fun to drive, AFAIK the std S3 doesn't have much of a turbo kick and with the 4wd won't "feel" fast, but give one a drive and see how you get on.

If OEM colours weren't an option, off the top of my head I would go with this: Would love to do a photoshop of this, think it could look rather good :| Matt black body (Pro sprayed: maybe semi-gloss or satin so that cleaning isn't a mare) red rear clusters, smoked side and front indicators, BBS CHs (I think) / these wheels in this colour scheme: Possibly a scarlet red pinstripe down the swage line a la Mk1 and Mk2 Golf. (Think Black Diamond discs and black calipers throughout to keep the stealth image) Follow the red/black scheme through the engine bay and interior (although way more black than red in there). If my Corrado was a non-pearl colour I think I could be tempted to do this. Would have to do EVERYTHING to pull it off though imo. Feel free to discuss your own thoughts...

gargh, I need the OSR :brickwall:

Ah, interesting stuff. I had no idea TRE geometry could invoke or reduce bump steer.

Looks like an interesting hybrid build mate, but are the tie rod ends going up through the hubs as opposed to down through the hub for any particular reason? I always thought the TREs went down from the top so that if the nut came off for whetever reason, the TRE couldn't potentially fall out of the hub Maybe it's a hybrid build thing?

got myself a runabout as corrado backup....advice
boost monkey replied to H8RRA's topic in General Car Chat
A Mk4 GTi is a run-about?  I must be really REALLY poor. There's a mk4 forum, but I haven't been on it: UK Mk4s Edit: Beaten to it by the Dink. -
July Update So, I got a job which means I can afford tax again which is awesome, but I'm starting to think whether I should just SORN it and use that £180 to buy all these bits I've been needing for a while: New pair front shock absorbers, Source good springs [tidiest ones from the shed?], Wheel bearing fitted to spare OS front hub [check play in current NS hub], Treat hubs and swap over, 280 discs and pads, new seals on 280 calipers, treat and put on, renew brake fluid. That will all prob come to £180 or more, and will mean the new subframe et al will be ready to go on. The only downside to this idea is if I get a job in August that I need the car for, I will prob get 6mth tax and pootle around on it whilst getting the shocks and hubs. There's no point doing them later as I'll have to get the car aligned again and replace more single-use nuts which is a bit pointless. The brake parts can wait if need be, the 256s are still razor sharp which is nice. The car will need serious alignment anyways what with the new steering rack and suspension, and I should prob get a PAS pump at some point or try to ascertain whether my current one is broke. Then there's the late spec PAS lines and reservoir which will hopefully just require mounting the cylindrical pot to the NS inner wing by the washer bottle. So, things are looking up. But we'll have to wait until the end of the month to see what happens. :salute:
-
Cheers buddy :salute: Yeah, the suspension is going back to standard which a lot of people will find odd, but believe me the current stuff is so tired. Most peoples top mounts are fine and their front struts are like this | with no play. Mine can be moved from this / to this \ with a fingertip :cuckoo:

Think they might be a bit beyond Noah to be honest, but nice items! Bit before my time the old Star Wars stuff and is that truck meant to be Optimus?

Aftermarket Body Kit Abominations on VAG Group cars
boost monkey replied to djmac56's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah, fair enough mate. I just got a shock for a split-second thinking Karmann or whoever had anything to do with that Banzai disaster! -
Aftermarket Body Kit Abominations on VAG Group cars
boost monkey replied to djmac56's topic in General Car Chat
Your title leads to suggest that these are VAG designed bodykits... I'm guessing that Combat Death bumper on the mk3 isn't actually VAG designed? -
cheers for putting up the part, completely forgot to check this earlier :salute:

standard. Exhaust rubbers definitely should have some give in them. I'm shocked someone even makes uprated ones which are harder - the heat resistance side makes sense though.
-
If the window glass is steaming, I'd put money on the heater matrix buddy. Do you have damp carpets?
-
Yeah, bonnet bricks don't have the same ability to create a smooth curve
-
Not even on VAGCAT  If you can wait 1 hour, I'll leave work, get home and prise one of mine off for you.

That Beetle is awesome! This car is not: :nono: :nono: :nono:

Turbo application has been talked about (see page 2 of this thread initially and subsequent pages - LowG has posted a very comprehensive list of turbo applications with drawbacks and benefits). There are a few turbos that can be applied to the 16v engine which give very linear increases in torque and power, and aren't as "spiky" as you may think. As for wiring and wiper jet pipes - rerouting wiring isn't a massive issue, and your windscreen will be even cleaner if the washer fluid is hot! Steering U/J could be an issue. Perhaps a channel of aluminium tubing to reflect heat? Could be a possible solution. I don't like the idea of a hot bulkhead either, but there are always things that can be done.

Hi matey  we have all been little nooblets in the past :salute: 1. Should be able to, I got mine for a few hundred knowing it needs about another 500 spent on it. But there are some gooduns around for 800+ 2. Have a look at the Wiki guide, TONs of info on the car including a Buyers Guide. 3. That's asking a LOT. You're trying to get 180hp out of a 1.8 16v! VW Motorsport managed it, but their engine is race spec. It definitely won't be easy or cheap. You can turbo or supercharge them too, but that definitely won't be easy or cheap either! Maybe you should buy the 2.0 16v as a base instead, which will need less work to get 180hp from it. 4. 5. For Sale section dude!

But as you adjust the camber, this affects the toe too. I think its best to check/adjust the camber, then check/adjust the toe. Then check the camber is still correct and repeat if necessary eventually you will bring it to spec. Then drive round the block to let everything settle and re-check both. Ah right. so both of mine are prob out then considering I've tampered with the hubs, shocks and rack  Cheers for the info, didn't realise that.
-
Good news! A lot of people have found the VR quite economical on a pootle. I'd rather have the low down torque than screaming revs to be fair.
-
Shock mounting bolts adjust camber not toe?
