Yeah it's easy but horrible. I hate the way the forum puts a big ATTACHMENT box around the picture...no need! Other vw forums don't do that...
-
ooooh, touch

OEM Corrado FAKs with rusty scissors are no good then?
-
I heard replacing your rear bumper stops nasty engine misfires...
-
Deffo not the rear, that bearing is tight as a drum. Jacked up the front just to ascertain movement, and the current front hub generates more play than a 7 y/o with ADHD.  So yeah, still front so that's cool...in an at-least-i-don't-have-to-slap-the-fresh-rear-beam-on-right-now kinda way.
-
Yes definitely. The rear subframe is obsolete now though IIRC, so it'll be a s/h part only.
-
Yeah it will affect power / torque. Some of the old 8vs (my jetta for example) wouldn't even idle when the exhaust was broken  Obviously yours isn't as severe, but the lack of a tuned volume of exhaust system (due to leakage) will be orvving some ponies and torques for sure.

The Early / Late question... now with added Golf...
boost monkey replied to diamondblack's topic in Interior
*looks around* Uh, Hi.... I'm here for the added golf? -
Starting to think that it's the rear bearing now  I am a legend.
-
:salute: :salute: Cheers guys. Never had the rear wheels off, so will have a nosey at the same time. I guess swapping them diagonally is a given? Although then if they're directionals they'll be spinning th wrong way.... I'll have a look.

Thanks Dr Mat :salute:

Cheers matey  This febi bearing has so many useful parts in I'm thinking I will do the other side as well, just so everything is fresh! All I have left to buy for the complete front end overhaul is: shock absorbers (maybe springs if I don't use some s/h ones from the parts store) 280mm discs and pads, 280mm caliper seal kits. then I just need to put it all together really. Glad I got money coming in at the mo, it's quite useful.

Sorry to dig this up again, but i read in another post that it could be one of my tyres making the noise and not the bearing? What are the symptoms of each? Currently there is no noise until about 30mph, then a very vague wob wob (but quite muted) up to about 40mph and then past that it kinda dies down as road speed increases? I would have thought a bearing would have got louder, but then again if it's spinning faster maybe I just can't hear it as much. I'll sling the new bearing in regardless... but I would not be at all surprised if it is something else going too. Cheers :salute:

Wheel bearing came yesterday, but missed the posty as i'm a working man and all. It's from Tierod69 off ebay (bought a load of stuff from him) and it's Febi Bilstein too, so good stuff (I swear they should be paying ME by now :cuckoo: ). Look at all the stuff you get in the wheel bearing kit: Wheel bearing, 2 circlips, brake disc grub screw, hub nut, tube of grease (for initial bearing into hub assembly?) 17mm lower ball joint to hub bolt and nylock nut (serious :notworthy: for including one of these i feel, and with a nylock nut too!) track rod end new nylock nut, 2 new suspension strut to hub nuts with special captive washers (these must always be replaced as per VW) Quite a lot of stuff for £23 delivered  Umming and aahing about whether to buy a hub puller and DIY this now. Might phone a local garage and see if they'll do it for cash on the spot. Shouldn't take long.

Just PM r4ge or look at his members gallery. He has done the whole conversion.

Surely A G60 rocker would leak onto the inlet manifold first, and then overflow onto the exhaust manifold. In which case, you'd probably want to get it fixed soonish.
-
so it doesn't smell like exhaust fumes? Yeah more than likely some oil left on the manifol when man handling it. My 16v swap in the golf did this, I crapped it for a couple of days and then it just stopped. Turned out to just be some gunk when I was moving the exhaust about and eventually burnt off. You could leave the car running with the bonnet open for a while, that would at least get some airflow to remove the smoke. You might wanna get a torch down there though and make sure there isn't a big blob of gunge else it'll be smoking for ages.
-
i think it is more mechanical related, maybe engine mounts like Steve said. Mine has just started doing this... feels like clutch slip without the transmission loss to the wheels... very very odd :salute: my mounts are deffo fubar though, so could well be something like that.

Cazza's Storm- Gone :( ...S3 Has Arrived! :)

Andy, you are a joker! At least you've been lude now and can get it out of your system. Would you be looking at the original Focus or the newer one? -
rollers are part of mech for sure. I have spares if you need :salute:

PROBLEMS CONSISTANTLY STARTING ENGINE AND IRREGULAR IDLING
boost monkey replied to markgia1's topic in Engine Bay
exactly what I said dude, your injection system runs on vacuum. dislodge the airbox or the little pipes and the car can stall instantly. Is your airbox clamped together properly? And all the jubilee clips on the pipes done up? Maybe one of the pipes has cracked and is letting in air, that would affect the vacuum. -
Yeah, those a very good things to check for! My diagnoses are a little :cuckoo: at times.
-
those black speedos look surprisingly like Compos to me...Oh, and sebrings are the bestest.
-
he prob bent the old ones getting them off the old discs and then they never hugged the new discs properly. Cages should be reusable I would have thought (unless they're corroded), they're sprung slightly so you can get them off and on the discs. Sounds like a bodge to me.

If the pumps don't run when the engine is cranked, that's not a stall: it's a failure to start. You got petrol? Good fuel filter on the car? Dodgy fuel lines from tank/pump?
