  1. There are videos on Youtube, search "Team Modena Gallardo" or something like that. Can't get access to YT as the uni network is being well dodgy.
  2. Just spoke to the team boss as to whether they want me to work at Rockingham and beyond, and he confirmed that i'm onboard and wanted for the rest of the GT season  This means no more temping in an office over summer! This also means that the money that I had stored up for potential unemployment over summer can now go on Ron.
  3. Racelands are fairly well known in the circles, i've heard of them before through other cars I've had. What are the welds like on the flange that attaches to the head? The ashley 4-branch I had sounded quality but the welds were a stevie wonder job. Think it was aluminium too as it was fairly light and didn't rust, just got a white layer on it (aluminium oxide).
  4. It's in my project thread...give me a mo... Looks like a single skin to me, but it's a few mm thick IIRC:
  5. it's more like a percentage figure IOW. what if you're running a 1.4 with 60hp, are you telling me it only makes 20hp at the wheels?
  6. i think so :D ......was it cold and windy at Knockhill by the way? Yes BOTH! I had 5 layers on most days. @Dave16v, if you view my cutting up of the Corrado pictures, you can see EXACTLY what kind of metal thickness the tranny tunnel is made up from as I cut through there to quarter the floorpan. hth, Jon.
  7. i've heard the cats on corrados are pretty free-flowing so perhaps your old cat was dead for it's removal to make such an improvement to performance.
  8. aaah the baffles, i remember now! Thanks fabio :salute:
  9. What does the Shrick sump actually do? Does it hold more oil than standard or something? I'm glad to hear that your new engine will pull away from idle...it's a good sign
  10. did you change any of the sensors when you rebuilt the engine?
  11. a tap is a small device which is used to turn the flat edges of a hole into threaded edges so you can screw a bolt into it and it will hold.
  12. I'll have to remember where it was, it all comes down to experience really, see how it feels on the road.
  13. I'd only go twin pipe if it was functional. And if you need a twin pipe, the exhaust system needs redesigning...or you're running a big turbo.
  14. the fob only flashes to show that it has battery life left, just as your telly remote can flash to say "my battery is working". It doesn't bear any resemblance to whether it is locking / unlocking the car unless you are in visual range and can see the car at the time. I can press my fob now and it won't do a thing to my car parked outside.
  15. The bloke I was talking to said tuned exhaust lengths tended to make turbos laggier, but then what do I know?
  16. plus isn't rim wax what bummers use? :gag:
  17. Are you sure there is enough flex in this piece of metal to justify the move from aluminium to steel? I'm in the middle of my materials engineering revision, and I really can't see the necessity of an upgrade to steel, it's hardly a load bearing part. Was the aluminium particularly low grade or something?
  18. Noo, that's what anthracite or black wheels are for, no need to worry about brake dust build-up! Plus they look awesomes 8)
  19. I don't think anyone is surprised by the large bill my fried, it is a corrado after all! Good for you in doing things right...even though your username is cheapmods!
  20. ^^^ tuned length manifolds are worse for turbo applications, I hear...
  21. You could bond a replacement panel in instead of welding. Adhesives these days can be every bit as strong as welds are especially in shear.
  22. wow, must take some effort to roll one of those but how much has to be changed when it happens? surely not much must be left in 100% condition?? congrats on the job though, and i'm sure if you are the better mechanic someone will spot that sooner or later ;) Link to PistonHeads Article Luckily the car went door to door, rolling sideways after digging into the soft grass on one of the first corners. I've seen it up on the jig at the workshop and it pretty much just needs panels, these cars are REALLY strong. I'll try to get a photo of all the structural reinforcement they have at some point. Tbh, witness accounts are normally always not that accurate; it's when you start stripping the car down that you see the real damage. The Gallardo got punched into the wall at Knock Hill, ending our Sunday race early. The reports were that the whole rear suspension was destroyed: turned out to be just a sheared rear wheel hub  we strapped it up and pushed it onto the truck with a little difficulty, but the dolly trolleys made it a lot easier.
  23. As exams are coming up, I have postponed all work on Ron for now. Will keep updating as and when with regards to new parts etc.
  24. inner wings / engine bay bodywork matt black and then pick out some fine detailing on certain parts of the engine?
