No they won't, they're not close enough to the combustion chamber for the pressure to force them out. They will be fine just pushed in :thumb right:

cheers mate. I'm hoping to keep it longer than a year: that's the record set by the Golf!

Looks hot buddy! That Mica Pearl Mk2 and the ABA turbo(?) with shiny inlet are awesome :luvlove: :salute:

So, I worked out this K800i has a camera on and swiped a data lead off someone... enjoy the 3Mpixel goodness! I spoil you lot sometimes  The old cross-member and rad-support... kinda :gag: Corrado conversion V2 (3).pdfDSC00252.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] Book1.pdfDSC00254.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfDSC00255.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] ^^^ Still on the car   New parts before the scrub down: ETKA Corrado.pdfDSC00261.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfDSC00265.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] Corrado92.pdfDSC00260.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] Looking better... Prodigal is having the cross-member as I have already refurbed one. After some light deagreasing and then a wipe down, left to dry in the sun  : passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfDSC00269.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfDSC00270.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSC00271.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] DSC00273.JPG[/attachment:12faez7e] Subframe looks worse than it is, it's all shallow surface rust. I'll be POR-15ing the subframe so the rust will be destroyed. Cross-member and rad support will get the hammerite treatment.

Very Weird noise after changing master cylinder
boost monkey replied to jleevr6's topic in Drivetrain
gearbox related perhaps? have you checked all of the fittings you have disturbed when changing the cylinders? -
 :salute:  yeah always good to have a chinwag matey. gonna go check on the new parts, they've been degreasing overnight. The subframe seems to have a hard waxy coating on it, degreaser is dissolving it though... old Waxoyl maybe? no pics as I have no camera.

I'm guessing that as the mk2 subframes are used on a mk2 (I do a degree you know) then there's no inherent risk / engineering issue with using it on a Corrado which AFAIK is mk2 chassis based anyways? Will keep on degreasing it and see what it looks like. Wishbone bolt holes are still galvanised and have grease in! -

need to know what it sounds like matey :salute: -
Went and got my new subframe, crossmember and rad support today. Didn't realise how flimsy those rad supports are! My goodness... did a nice round trip and saw CazzaVR who makes a killer cheese and pastrami sandwich! :salute: We caught up on recent events and then i grabbed the KW suspension, cheers matey  got back around 6 hours after i set off which was pretty good! Also, Ron/Stella behaved the whole way! what a legend  will put up some pics of the new parts when they're all degreased.

The cyanoacrylate in superglue will cause rubber compounds such as the piping to become brittle and crack over time. But if it's working it's working! :salute:

Using mk2 golf subframe on Corrado - ffs...

those sleeves come with mk2 'bones from GSF. the rear subframe mounts are different too: there is NO rear subframe mount holes on the mk2 subframe, the most rear mount points are just the ARB clip and bush holders. Oh dear! ^^ These bits sticking out past the ARB at the rear aren't on the mk2 subframe... can I still fit it? (pic is of a passat subframe, but this bit looks the same as corrado) This is the frame I have now. It shows clearly the lack of metal plates back past the ARB, which bolt up into the chassis... are they just for extra support? The bolts used are M10x24 so are definitely not load-bearing mounts. Perhaps the rear wishbone mount (vertical) on a mk2 acts as the rear subframe-to-chassis mount point on each side? Any more thoughts welcome, cheers to the guys who commented so far. -
Found my locking wheel nut key in with the toolkit and spare wheel! SO glad I didn't have to find out which wheel nuts i have and try to find a matching key

Hi everybody, Just had a thought: the mk2 golf subframe which I'm planning to pick up today and use on my Corrado doesn't have the mountings to attach the vibration damper (basically the big chunk of metal at the front of the subframe). Can anyone see any reason why this might be a problem? I'm guessing it's to do with damping the vibrations for the steering rack as that's bolted directly to the frame. Worst comes to worst, I might be able to take the dead raddo subframe to a welders along with the fresh mk2 item and ask them to move the vibration block mountings over? Thoughts welcome. Cheers, Jon.

i am a one man machine Phil. Mainly due to student NON finance, and partly because I've had many mk2-esque cars and this will be my 4th 16v engine(?) so i'm getting familiar with them now. plus once you've flipped a car over with your man-hulk (and bro) and see how it all works from an ant's POV it makes things a lot easier to suss :salute: can't wait to get the subframe tomorrow, I can start rebuilding it all off the car!
-
Popping up to cheltenham tomorrow to pick up the two cross-members as above plus a low mileage subframe which should be in VGC too, all for £65! Ed38 Classifieds ftw y0 :salute: hoping to pop by CazzaVR's on the way back and grab my KW suspension he is taking care of for me, plus give him his Erwins back :D

Evening matey :D My car is as follows: Top Left - Red / Yellow, Top Right - Blue/ White, Bottom Left - Green/Red, Back of the cylinder head (by distributor) - Green/black. Earth point (that little corner by the distributor) - Brown PLUS a Brown/White. So yes, seems a lot of your wires are in the wrong place. Hth, Jon.

great minds

my 16v one whines and you can hear it at startup (when ignition gets turned on) and also at idling from drivers side. try leaving your door open and turning the ignition on: the pump will prime up to pressure and you should be able to hear it whine then.

(fronts don't say ABS next to them) *wanders off*

Shouldn't lose pressure mate, it's all fluid going through a system. Sorry, in Thermo mode still :?
-
plusgas for the win mate, it's the ultimate penetrant for stuck fittings like that. When you were hitting it are you sure the other end wasn't catching on anything? fitting the circlip is a biatch, you need to slide the inner CV boot a long way down the shaft, fit the clip and then slide the boot up again. hth, Jon.

nothing goes to that free terminal on the ignition coil mate, mine is like that too. What is in the black plastic sleeve further down the wiring with that blue/white? it should be the 3-pin connector that plugs onto the side of the dizzy.
