  1. I'm gonna put your car on Ebay! lol Cool, I'll see if I can get that sorted then.
  2. LOL, Ron has always been in one piece! I'm scared to take it to bits... :( cheers pal, do you know what the WUR mod is?
  3. Oh yeah? and what has your thread consisted of? 1. My wheelnuts sheared 2. A cow grid broke the Octavia 3. Boost Leak! I can fart at higher pressure than the VRS' turbo. 4. COMING SOON - I've got to sell the Corrado. ya cheeky scamp! Unfortunately, my car probably will be finished in 5 years time the way I am munching through my student funds
  4. It is a lovely rack isn't it! And get this, I used genuine parts
  5. I was being sarcastic but thanks! I'm not getting back into this (again) but I've used pattern parts on past Mk2's fine, although I don't like their radiators. Did I mention that? I learn just fine thanks, getting A's at the mo
  6. Yeah it will be the Mk3 golf fitment as it's a 'standard' car part so to speak, whereas the mount made up for the Mk2 VR6 conversion is...uh....for a conversion(!) so will be a custom part.
  7. LOL, not sure why Jim but I get the distinct impression you're not the world's biggest fan of factors?
  8. So, the rack is done... Still using mobile phone for pictures, really sorry about that, but what is a student to do?  As it came off the car, still connected to subframe and hubs: _DSC5920.jpg[/attachment:15271h30] After a serious wire brush and degreasing period: Book1.pdfpasrack.JPG[/attachment:15271h30] How it sat around for a few weeks as I cleaned the threads and the inner arms of old steering grease :gag: : stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfrack.JPG[/attachment:15271h30] How it is now: ETKA Corrado.pdfImage046.jpg[/attachment:15271h30] stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfImage047.jpg[/attachment:15271h30] Quick mock-up of it assembled with rubber gaitors, track rods, steering bush and galvanised mount, and top seal (for rubber boot around the U/J): Corrado92.pdfImage048.jpg[/attachment:15271h30] passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfImage050.jpg[/attachment:15271h30] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfImage052.jpg[/attachment:15271h30] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfImage053.jpg[/attachment:15271h30] Things yet to do: lubricate main rack inner arms with new VAG steering grease, Find jubilees for the gaitors, locktite rods onto rack, attach small white clip to back of the brackety area in the middle  Opinions more than welcome :salute:
  9. arms on the stand are movable, only limit is the weight. Mine goes up to 350kg, and even a VR doesn't weigh that much! you can mount on the bellhousing no probs at all.
  10. CCGB discount is 15%, or at least it is at my local dealer. Agree that radiators are a dealer-only job, but as I always still suppor the underdog (to an extent!)
  11. Maybe pattern VR rads are better than the 16v items then.
  12. fair enough, yeah the cross-members are spotted too, it's just to cut down production costs. I always thought the wings would have more flex in them than the frame, as I see most people stitch-welding them instead (need to leave some give in the panels, hence you weld an inch, leave an inch, weld an inch etc etc) interesting stuff though!
  13. nooooooooooooooooooooo, the 16v one is ass!! doesn't sit on the cross-member / rad support beam properly, the pins underneath don't line up with the holes. I'd go 2nd hand for a genuine if you're looking to replace, shouldn't be too hard to find?
  14. I have a sealey, think it was £30 all in delivered so not crazy prices, but the construction and welds on it are pretty good.
  15. Maybe it's alright then. Perhaps the problem is the sum of a lot of different things ever so slightly out? Sorry i can't be more help at the mo.
  16. yeah that's the 8v carb gasket, as the carb manifolds (on mk2s of course) has coolant pipes running to them as they were pre-heated to reduce carb icing issues. Prodigal had the same prob, bin it and get a G60 one if I was you. No point having a gasket which is smaller than the ports.
  17. Maybe your head's porous? Uhhh.... i didn't mention that
  18. I'd be interested to see actually how much flex there is in a subframe, not too sure the average joe would be able to tell the difference?
  19. lol, cheeky git  rack is dry now, pics up later perhaps. Need to put the arms on now and get it servicable. Found a Mk2 Golf GTi subframe going free so gonna nab that so that I can start mounting everything on it. Plan is to mount the subframe as a one-piece with everything attached.
  20. Finished spraying the rack, yet to take pics though. Put Ron's spare heart up on it's engine stand: onstand.JPG[/attachment:fxpriz1o]
  21. you need to drive it down to Oxford...for...uh...something. Yeah :D you KNOW the A34 is an awesome car run-in road!
  22. if not: pick up a cheap 16v, rebuild, and voila! 16v G60 :notworthy:
  23. Yeah mate, definitely worth a shot! I mean your thread is 35ish pages long now? I would have rebuilt half the car by that point! it could have fatigued from the intake charge temps + heatsoak from exhaust manifold and then cracked as it's obviously going from cold to hot to cold everytime you drive the car, just like an exhaust manifold would. Prodigal's could easily burn your hand back in the summer before he had the charger standalone oil supply, now it prob hits 30degs tops? deffo worth looking into, but if the crack's not obvious i'm not sure how you will be able to find it...
