I know what you mean about 1 step at a time, my 16v isn't actually that much fun at the mo although i'm still taking it round the ring road most evenings! so many parts to change, so little time... :(

Or that other stuff we saw in the autoparts store? Just so wrong... -
I don't think so, but when I fix the bonnet pins I'll check! I'm assuming this is the same as the mk2 one, where you replace one of the gear rods with a long weighted rod? actually, isn't it cable change? Oh i'm confused.

Wow, those blackberryies are reeeealllyyy purple huh! Awesome pics. Might catch you at the Ox meet?

Andhere is what i've been doing today, one of three horrible drawings and then a few 3D models too! 6 straight hours of AutoCAD.... My brain could be used in a viscous coupling... :brickwall: -
I'm just gonna plough in: N/S bonnet pin sticks, and needs someone to wiggle bonnet for it to release although about 5% of the time it will co-operate (this obviously affects me getting access to engine!) TB is all gunged up and takes ages for the revs to drop again and for the switch to be activated for the idle circuit - I think this one is fairly easy as long as ^^^ is fixed. Speedo is not working at all - not sure about this as it's a hydro box and i'm used to the older normal boxes - affects most MAF readings PLUS MY SPOILER WON'T GO UP!! :( Steering is generally a bit dodgy - ordered some new wishbones and ARB links today which should be in soon, might take it for a toe-in or camber check maybe? Gearchanges are really really notchy - can't easily change gear fast. Really have to yank the stick to get anywhere...ooooooohhhhh, engine mounts? (just occured to me!) - Gearchange is fine in normal driving, so maybe it is a mount thing.... So yeah, a combination of the above isn't making it much fun to drive at the mo.... Any ideas? I have NO IDEA about hydraulic gearboxes and such, hence why I'm posting on here and why it's not fixed already. Oh yeah, Russ told me the clutch is new also. ok, sometimes I can't fix stuff.. (i know... )

I was signed on to do Computer Systems Engineering, and then in the summer before uni I got my driving license and my interests when from electrons to engines like that. *clicks fingers* That was like 8 years ago though. It feels weird being 25 with all these whipper snappers around me! -
love the figures, does sound like you may need some traction aids perhaps!

VR6 versus 944 Turbo - (or Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo??)

:| I know that the FC20vT is the fastest production FWD car, unless something else has come along in the last few years? -

Ah cool, thanks for the link! Now I know a little more about that car  Will get pictures of the Delara tomorrow, plus the 4-post lift if the engineers have finished putting the hydraulics in. -

As you can see from some of the pictures, we have been given a BMW 1 Series and a Cooper S. Funny thing is, they both went from the BMW Mini Plant about 5 miles away, over to Munich to be fitted with some educational stuff, and then back to Oxford! Crazy Krauts... We also have a Delara race car which had a Judd V10 in, but that has gone and the powers tha be are thinking big block Chevy. How they'll fit a 5.7 in where there was once a 4.0 I have no idea... :? So yeah, welcome to my day-to-day :D -
SO here are some pictures that were kicking around on my phone, and to show you guys what I get up to. I really do do motorsport engineering! 8)

What's under the bonnet of these? I saw one in front of me yesterday and it ripped away like it's owner was on fire. Badge just said 16v, but i'm thinking 2.2 flat-4 maybe? p.s. sorry for the O/T, here's a 944 engine shot to compensate: *wanders off to get on with AutoCAD homework* -
Yeah, it's a VW after all. Anything over 100k is just about run in! Seriously, don't worry about it. The people who turn their noses up at a little number on the dash don't deserve such a fine automobile! p.s. if you were selling on, you will easily sell it mate. Probs not for £2k, but you know someone on here would take care of it :thumb right:

would LOVE to have the space and time to do this: Now that's a proper project.

ha ha thanks, I did the whole pseudo-rice pikey / chav thing when I had peugeots...but have learnt my lesson since then, and had a particularly stealthy 205 1.6 with a 16 up front! I wish I could strip the car back down to bare metal and start at the bottom. Literally.
-
Tell me about it  I am a student though so i still wont be able to afford to run it even if i get it fixed  You're a student?   How did you pay for the blackberry?

soak them in wheel cleaner and then pressure wash them! -
Do they come black or do people paint them? I don't understand why you'd want to add a layer of insulation to something you use to shed your intake heat :confused4:

Does anyone know the diameter of the front anti-roll bar for an early 16v Corrado? I ask because I was on VAGCAT earlier on and they have two sizes, although I realised that I'm more likely to have the smaller size and the G60/VR6 is likely to have the bigger size. *wanders off to look up figures* hmm, interesting.... VC has the VR6 labelled at 20mm, whereas the KR and PG (16v and G60 respectively) are labelled as either 18mm or 23mm. If I have the 18mm and the 23mm was still available from VW (and fitted), would it be a decent upgrade? I mean, it's diameter is 28% larger than the 18mm which seems a lot, and I'm guessing it will cost a lot less than the Eibachs/Weitecs etc. I've actually been doing about "Torsional Loading of a Solid Beam" today in some Physics-Mechanics work, so I know the 23mm will be stiffer ands stronger and keep wheel planted much more effectively. Sounds like it could be a good stopgap between standard and brand new £200 ish uprated items? I'm trying to keep costs down as the burgundy is currently handling like a pig, and I am going to get some standard replacement items (bones, balljoints etc) and swap them in.

Yeah, i'd hazard that a branched manifold and a full exhaust system would net you around 10ish hp, depending on the specifics.

Good work bro! Now all you have to do is the big lines and you'll be all set!
