How do you fit 24" range rover wheels on a golf?
boost monkey replied to CorradoVR6-Turbo's topic in General Car Chat
For sure! -
Yeah it's great now cheers! Car overall still needs a lot of work, but I'll get round to it. Just gotta pace myself I think! :( :)
-
Yeah...the badge causes too much turbulence and the lack of airflow to the rad makes your engine overheat...?
-
 you don't like my grille?! I have a good mind to leave it looking standard you know! I don't really like cosmetic mods unless they are functional...it's the engineer in me 8)
-
I would go off on a massive engineering rant, but i'm already seriously behind with uni work (stupid corrado purchase!) and am crazy tired. But junkie summed it up!

Did he write a book on "How to turn wheel bearings into mush"? -
Yeah, very true. Car is making a weird rumbly noise at idle now, think the PAS pump is throwing a fit! The whole front end needs coming off to be fair, but my engine crane came today so let the games begin* 8) *after i do some uni work :(
-
I was gonna get a late 3-bar grille, but I kinda like the old one now! Might get some blacking on the trim. At some point: half smoked clears, schmidt wheels (not decided which ones yet) maybe a subtle drop, depending on what i do with suspension. oh and corrado forum window sticker!

Elite nokia, why yes it is. Here they are pre-car wash!
-
Yo yo wassup C-units? I took some pictures on my Nokia this morning, but I have no nokia lead at uni so will upload this avo. I'm not sure whether it was icy out today, or my car is emanating too much cool, or cos I hit 88mph but it is craaaazy icy right now. Whatever it was, it is definitely fresh 8)

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
boost monkey replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
No, you're right bro. VAG wishbones have a metal sleeve bonded into the vertical rubber bush. Pattern parts come with a separate sleeve which you put in yourself and it crushes as you tighten up the bolt :thumb right: -
enjoy & I don't blame you at all - a few days after I got mine I went for a week away to cornwall with my friends and only ended up drinking on 1 night cos I wanted to drive all the time... they all thought I was mad of course like your sig comment btw, I'm just about to finish paying off my student loans. 2 payments to go and then £100 more each month to throw at the car  (1st purchases... MOT (bound to cost a fortune), insurance and tax :( )[/quote:3qcik41t] Ha ha thanks :D The dash lights have been flickering a bit tonight, think the alternator might need to be looked at, but it's all good  Well I just started my 1st year, so plenty of Loan accrual to go  :( stupid government, moaning about not having enough skilled people when they make us pay for it!! Didn't go back out later in the end, been pricing up new ARB and suspension items! Will be sat in lectures tomorrow just thinking about getting home...

Ha ha thanks, I'll have to talk to my official photographer about pictures 8) If you like doing time-trials around the ring road, then yes you may see me in Ox sometime! (half tempted to go back out later on!)

Cazza's Storm- Gone :( ...S3 Has Arrived! :)
boost monkey replied to CazzaVR's topic in Members Gallery
you have a storm coming??? seriously though, congrats on the little un! You've just doubled the chances of paintwork scratches and quadrupled the chance of the missus telling you to buy something "sensible" :( -
Hmm, I'm gonna try and sort the steering and suspension first. The rack is leaking and the PAS pump whines louder than a G-charger  Steering wise the ARB and wishbones are super rusty so I'm gonna hit up some new parts on them. Go Team Fast style....hmmm, I'm not sure for now. I think when i'm happy that it's running properly then I might see? Yes, BORING I know!
-
ok ok, the honest answer is that only Prodigal has a decent camera that will do the DBP and general bodywork any justice, but will see what I can do! And yes, I do like to tinker with the old KR!
-
There are under-dash wiring pics up already. What more do you want!!
-
I think the closest I ever got was about 1car length away, but that was at about 80ish so a little less than the Highway Code allows?   I do have to wind the valver up to make it move as compared to your instant 200lbft+ torque master!

Owned!!!!! Good work Captain SixPot, so when are you gonna come and play? I think Prodigal has these, although I might be getting confused with his late Audi... :? -

I also did this today, it was fun :D I also topped up the PAS fluid, and took it for a hoon round the ring road. God this thing can handle... although I am used to a VW Boat, sorry, Jetta... -
Where are you based? If you're not too far I could come lend a hand? but yeah, I have sh*teloads of information as I just finished getting mine to work. Drop me a PM with a mobile number if you like, am free all evening :thumb right:

which socket to get spark plugs out of a KR?
boost monkey replied to boost monkey's topic in Engine Bay
Ah well, i'm sure we'll find a use for it! -
After the tyres had more than 24psi in them it steered reasonably! The ARB, and wishbones are shot to hell though. Will swap them and try to source a new PAS rack at the same time. I remember bro rinsing it out of some services - i hit the limiter in 3rd and by the time i'd changed to 4th and looked up he was pretty much at the end of the slip road ~ 100m in front? I kept up with Andrew on one blast, but I think he must have been 4th/5th when I was in third! That G has serious torque 8) 8) 8) Yeah, still plenty of stuff doing, it really is a rolling project, but it works good enough for now. Whole dash needs re-wiring, quite a few things don't work. The speedo didn't work either so the MAF sat there twiddling it's thumbs! Engine temp never got off the bottom stop though, which I hear is normal? Oil temp sat at 104C which is a little higher than i'd like, but I'll do an oil change soon enough :)

which socket to get spark plugs out of a KR?
boost monkey replied to boost monkey's topic in Engine Bay
Bought it already mate, and it didn't fit :( The inner partt of it doesn't clear the cream ceramic core of the spark plug. Ended up buying a long "Spark plug" 14mm socket which worked a treat. Cheers for the help though! -
. . . . . Big shout to Russed16v for the quality motor at a brilliant price! It will get stripped down and rebuilt when funds permit, don't worry! :thumb right:
