Camber etc after lowering NOW HOW TO DIY ALIGNMENT!
boost monkey replied to eugopnosaj's topic in Drivetrain
You'd be surprised how many race teams still use poles and bits of fishing line to check the alignment! The old lambo team I worked for did it this way :D -
A6 no more, written off by drunk driver :-(
boost monkey replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in General Car Chat
Just read this and absolutely gutted to hear about it. Deffo agree that either driver or car owner are liable for prosecution of some sort though. -
That sounds about right. I've swapped the beam on my car a couple of years ago. the little stubby bolts lock in quite tight! And I think the suspension will still keep the beam on the car if all else fails

have you checked the ignition system? got a fair amount of petrol in the tank? I found out the hard way that the edge of the red on the gauge is actually empty in my car :/
-
That's cool :D sounds like a possible fix then! Good luck with the MOT. If you need any parts, please please PM me! I have way too many at the mo.
-
did you wash under the bonnet? :/

LOL, this is true matey :D The front wings are rotten at the bottom where the bolt to the car, and I haven't had any luck sourcing good condition early wings and no luck at all in finding ones in this colour. I'm not starting to wonder whether this bottom section could be cut off and re-welded, and then bolted back to the car instead. The rest of the wings are in good nick.

I thought I would take a few pictures of the Plum post-snowy season! The bodywork has lasted very well I reckon, a testament to VW build quality from the mk2/3 era. Front bumper has some light marks from a long time back. As it stands today, so glad I went for a good bodywork car instead of a good mechanicals car. That being said, both areas still need work. The Sebrings have lasted well, the tyres are shot now though. It's been sat for 2 years on a couple of flats so each corner will get new rubber. Adding it to the list...! Side reflection of Prodigal's G60 as sat next to mine. Paintwork really has stood the test of time with no Collinite or other expensive treatments. NSR wheelarch. Suspension and arch just as I left them many many months ago :luvlove: OSR... OSF... NSF... Interior still in pieces. Reminds me the whole dash needs rewiring. One job at a time though, eh? I like my sanity  There was some superficial mould buildup which needs investigating. Rear silencer, red box o tools, bike tyres and new KR fuel pump assembly. Been off the road for some time (well, water pump went in September 2008) and more evidence of interior condensation

VR6 dry sump system Dissertation (R&D Project)
boost monkey replied to boost monkey's topic in Engine Bay
I phoned VW this morning in the hope to get *any* VR6 sump gasket but there are none in stock. Might go to AVS and order one, think they're about £20 delivered. will be up for sale cheap once Ihave the measurements I need! -
I've just realised that I have no information for my car to tell me that the gearbox has been swapped or rebuilt, and the car has just passed 185,000 miles. Is there any kind of ballpark figure for transmissions lifespan on our cars? Engine's a KR, so whatever gearbox code goes with that :D Jon.

I am feeling upbeat about my car again :D I went to wash it the other day, and remind myself what I have done to it. I was really surprised to find that all the work I have done is still in mint condition. The subframe waxoyl has worked perfectly, keeping everything fresh and didn't even find corrosion on bolt heads. The suspension all round is still perfect, they're VR6 gas shocks and accompanying hardware and they haven't missed a beat. No corrosion on them at all either. The cleaned out wheel well also stil shining in a DBP underseal kind of way! The copper-nickel brake lines I added maybe 18mths(?) ago are still perfect. Not even any sign of going green or even water marks etc. I guess my scuttle panel is still in good condition! Going back over today to sort through the spare parts that I wrapped and sealed, and also through bigger stuff outside. Prodigal says a hedgehog has been living amongst it! Well at least it's getting some use

If the belt has jumped a tooth, surely all 4 cylinders would be out and not just 2.
-
Sorry, being an idiot. If you're using the 1.8 box then it will of course be the same as mine, which is a mechanical drive. They may still keep stock of them, all you can do is ask! Else the speedo cables on ebay for mk2 golf should all fit (they're all mechanical). The one you want has a silver hex end where it screws into the gearbox.
-
Sounds like a 9A engine then, unless it's the 2.0 from a Mk3 Golf (ABF I think?) surely someone will know the answer. There are enough Corrado 2.0 16v owners on here who should know about their own car! :D
-
Mine costs me a few tears and beers each week as I remember how it's still not finished :/
-
Hell, at least you all had breakdown cover! not like the time my water pump pulley let go and took me 4hours to get 40 miles home all by myself (and probably killing the engine in the mean time).

doesn't the inside face of the fusebox lid tell you which relays / fuses are for which things?

Wanted: Bump Strips, Aqua Blue Wings & More..
boost monkey replied to bristolbaron's topic in Wanted
I guess you haven't checked ebay as there are a set of Aqua wings up there, quite near me actually. Think they're £42 posted each. -
Russ, have you put a 2.0 8v or 16v in yours now? I think the 16v will have the electronic speedo sensor, as opposed to the mechanical one that my KR has.
-
Doing alright matey, just finishing up Uni at the moment, then getting married in the summer! Haven't touched the car for about 2 years :/ eager to get on with it though,it's sat next to my brother's G60 on his drive :D finding time to do work on a corrado is hard enough, but documenting it all aswell is almost impossible! get some pics up when you can :D
-
Mix the chassis of this... with the engine of that... and you have the best car I ever owned. God, I still miss it :luvlove:
-
compression test is plan A. If the valves are bent, you will have little or no pressure on those cylinders.
-
Prodigal pointed out to me the graphite grease that Maplins do on a recent trip there. He said it's the stuff to use on the spoiler mech, i can't remember if he said it's good for contacts though, although graphite does conduct.

No longer need welder for Volvo: car is a lemon :s
boost monkey replied to boost monkey's topic in Drivetrain
yeah you're right, it is Carisma esque. Volvo even had a GDI V40 which used a Mitsubishi engine. -
wow that is a monster! Is it from a ship?
