  1. every so slightly off-topic, but what is the time frame used when measuring the cc flowrate of injectors?
  2. Boost Monkey seal of approval  Edit: We have just passed 1000 posts...
  3. Thanks steve  We realised that the underseal actually squares off really neatly at opposite corners of the mount, so along with my initial markings of the old mount it wasn't very had to align the new one up. I'll tell the garage to check it out when they MOT it though, definitely.
  4. Cheers mate :salute: Yeah, it drove nicely with just the front renewed and aligned, just need to correct that oversteery/breakaway a la Dead Bushes rear end now! Should be done over the summer I'm hoping.
  5. Cheers Andy. I wish it was a new car, or that I had a new-car budget! Maybe a few years down the line when it all needs replacing again, I will go that little bit extra  The turbo is still in the turbo shop. They, uh, said they'd hold it for me
  6. If you break it, I actually have 3 16v blocks at the mo, so can send you that part quite easily :salute:
  7. Thanks Cheapmods :D I'm on easter break (spring break to you?) so i'm hoping to get the suspension on, and the back end on the floor. ....Although that just means i can start on the front end
  8. So... after an unsuccessful hanging of the shocks on friday, I talked to Prod who thought the shocks had to be attached to the beam, then guided up into the mounting holes with a jack and finally the top mounts done up. So it looks that has now moved to the last job on the list. Here's how yesterday went: Rooting through a small section of my parts bin to find necessary bits. Managed to whittle the selection down to this.... any ideas? That should help the more astute/geeky amongst you. Yes, it's the tensioning spring and arm for the brake bias valve. Buy yourself a twix if you got it right. Old versus new beam bracket. £30ish IIRC, but I deemed it worthy as it holds part of the braking system. Prodigal getting dirty, I think putting the exhaust heatshielding back on after I did the NS to OS rear hard line  :salute: Beam still needs the brake line clips on! :pale: Musn't forget to do that. Shinee. Thanks to all for the alignment help in the other thread. No idea what that chassis-eye is for (left of pic). Any ideas gurus? Spaghetti junction  the shortest line had to be realigned as it was catching on the spring arm on the valve. Spotted by Prod  Mr. and Mrs. Prod in full effect aligning the beam  :notworthy:  Checking the pre-tensioning of the axle bracket procedure in the Mk2 Golf Haynes!  Almost done. Man, this has taken 5 ages to get on :? It's good to have help :D Hooray  Sneaky bush pic (not like that) Stylo shot 8) Still plenty to do obviously, but getting there.
  9. Nice find steve! No doubt you'll keep it in good nick :D keep us updated with your progress.
  10. Why not use the leccy speedo sensor from a late Corrado? You'll know it'll fit the clusters, which the 1997 Polo one may not. Not heard of anyone doing this swap before, my MFA doesn't work either but still alot less hassle just getting some replacement clocks and selling on the electric ones! Good luck though.
  11. That's all it's held on with, 4 bolts. I wouldn't smack it too hard with the hammer as it's really thin metal and will deform easily. The little pipe going off to the left (beginning of crank ventilation) has a slight lip or sleeve on it I think. I got mine out by prying at the edges carefully with a screwdriver. Can't remember if it has a gasket on though, so be careful!
  12. You prob won't use anywhere near as much of the range of a 28mm bar if you're on the 2nd to top setting on the 22mm and you say it's perfect. You'd just have the 28mm on "softest" setting, and the other settings might not get used. Stick with the 22 I say :D Glad to see you back here mate! We'll have to sort out another get together now the weather's turning!
  13. PMSL At all 3!! I knew you guys wouldn't disappoint :notworthy:
  14. Try 4-Stroke Performance Tuning by A. Graham Bell, well worth the read. They definitely do exist, and have been mentioned on this forum! As you/someone has already mentioned, it's to do with valve overlap. To break that down a little, laminar flow is what you would refer to as normally flowing, so if it were water it would have no choppiness or bubbles. Turbulence is white-water basically, where the "fluid" (gas in this case) is going all over the place because the ratio between velocity and pipe diameter is too big. And yes, the torque generated at low revs on the VSR are a function of the mass (or volume) flow rate of the fluid, as pipe diameter and velocity are inversely proportional. For example, leave a hose running at a set speed. Put your thumb over the end of it (reducing pipe diameter) results in an increase in water velocity as the mass flow rate must remain the same at all times, up until there is a severe blockage or the pipe breaks!
  15. :bday: woo! good work bro, glad it's all working again. I thought it was going to rain today, but no sign so far. Odd. I still have your balljoint remover, so I'll bring it back round in a bit. Rear wheel bearings are easy peasy too, although you should buy new rear discs at the same time, seeing as one of the races fits inside them for the bearing. Bushes I no can do

    Subframe??

don't put a fatter front ARB on, it'll handle like a drunk pig on a skateboard. Unless you super beefy up the rear one. The KR and 9A (1.8 and 2.0 16v) subframes should be almost identical. Can you get some photos up?
  17. on the old golfs, they had arch replacement kits which was basically just the arch (plus a little extra metal) and was used to replace a rear arch when one had rusted (cut out old, weld on new, sort the seam out between the two). But they were often used as extensions to the original arches, making the car look like it had a wider track. I'm not sure if these are available for the Corrado.
  18. pretty sure you can get polyurethane exhaust hangers, do a search.
  19. the extra line on the wobbly ones will just mean that more pedal pumping is needed to pressurise the system initially, but will work fine after that. Also, my rear beam is from a Mk2 golf not a corrado (no comment) so it doesn't have pipe clips in the same locations. In fact I need to put them on still. As long as the hard lines don't hit anything there shouldn't be anything to worry about I reckon.
  20. Ah cheers Kip! :D Maybe I should point out all the shineee bits too    "I did that" "That too" "Mate, does this look right to you? Yeah that's cos I did it"
  21. Tried to get some sneaky updates yesterday but suffered massive fail :/ Attempted to hang the rear shocks by myself, but just way too fiddly. Do the springs need to be compressed a little bit before all the hex nuts are nipped up as I had about 1mm of usable thread poking through which wasn't enough to nip up the top bolt in the boot :confused4: Also, was going to rehang my backbox but realised I had left my exhaust putty at Prodigal's so I'll pick that up today. Pretty much the only thing I could do was affix the beam hard lines to the hoses at caliper and bushes ends - not much achieved! Hopefully get more done in the next few days, I've finished for Easter now (not that the workload has eased up any) and still have my suspension design project to finish.
  22. Megane's don't have half a disco in their front bumper. Ditto corrado.
