I would look at cleaning the pulleys with some disc brake cleaner/degreasant. And / or tightening the belt. If the problem still persists then next I'd look at replacing the alternators regulator (easy fix).

If you have the option to retain the 8 valves services whilst easing a new steed into the fold, then I say go for it. I'm not saying keep it and let it rot before your eyes. More the fact that the 8valve is such a rewarding car to own and drive, that I've yet to find anything close to it for the same money. I get better MPG than most of my friends everyday cars as well... Which is nice.

I'd have another 8v in a breath. Problem is, (as Judith said) very few others think the same. Mines kicking on mileage wise (147k). But I have no issue jumping in it, firing it up first time and driving anywhere. In fact Im even contemplating picking up a spare engine (just in case), I like it that much. Personally I wouldn't bother storing it, for the same reasons mentioned above. Price is tricky at the best of times, but given the current prices and you're location, you may be looking at the lower end of the price spectrum. Unless "that" person lives nearby. There was an Ice grey violet 8v on ebay recently, which went unsold. Think it had about 120k, two owners, service history, standard listed for 1500 sheets. I thought the price was about right. Seems Joe public thought otherwise. It's unfortunate but it seems dog rough early 16valves command higher price tags than 8valves. And I don't mind sticking my neck out and saying that most of it is to do with badge snobbery.

I find strangulation the best method. CCTV ?

3rd brake light - Vauxhall Vectra (bear with me...!)
James. replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in Interior
An interesting mod you have there. Are you looking to add it for extra safety or are you genuinly concerned for your safety ( been rear ended before, or added bigger brakes etc ) ? -
Must be in good condition +. And include the necessary hardware. Posted to Lancashire (unless near by). Thanks, James PS: If anybody knows if any other models that fit well, then I'm open to suggestions.

Nail, Head. I've got away with it twice now (scratches head in disbelief). I know you should always buy a car with your head and not your heart, but it's hard not to when: A, it's your old car. And :B, It's got a dirty great R32 engine strapped under the bonnet. I am jealous. All the best, James

Thought I'd better post something on my re-build thread before it either gets lost into the threads of mother time or people start to think the old girls been decommissioned on a more permanent basis. To be brutally honest, you'd have thought I'd sold it, by the general lack of input she's had in my life for the past few months. The Brooklands meet next May has re-energized my desire to have her ship shape and Bristol fashioned before then. Had a couple of hours this morning to have a little fettle, so started to clean all the pipes. Not much to see or say but all part of the cars current lifestyle.

Renshaw project (probably going to sell / swap)
James. replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
Second here for black. Though I am biased in an OE kind of way. Looking to replace the suspension on the 8V next year with KW sports. Trouble is that they're pink ! You can be sure as mustard that they'll be getting a good Johnny Cash shake down before being installed though ! -
It'll blow all the rust out alright. I'd be more concerned about your health though. Glass/sand blasting is seriously hazardous if you don't use the right PPE. So much so that most blasting places use more "health friendly" media these days. Would a gentle rub with sand paper and a dab of jenolite not suffice ? PS: Blasting is a notoriously messy business. Excessive dust in every nook/cranny/opening is pretty much a given. Hope I haven't put you off too much. I just wanted you to be aware of what I found out when I was "In the market" for this proceedure. Let me know how it all works out either way. James

Snow? No Problem! Turn your Rado Into A Snow Plough!
James. replied to Walesy's topic in General Car Chat
I emailed the seller to see what safety standard the product had been tested to. Safe to say, two days later I'm still waiting for the reply. -
Andy (C5 OEM) has a set of Recaros for sale in the classifieds.

Second for no. Should sit inside the body.

Wonder what (if any) safety standard they've been tested to. Also like the way they'll destroy the paint on your wheels. Nice touch but I'm out. -
Like the reg. Will it be a daily H***ACK. Nice colour, standard and unmolested. Just what we like. Any plans ? Where are you based ?

Another for Gliptone. Done both interiors (red and grey) with the cleaner and conditioner. Both came up excellent and smelling of fresh leather. NB: Works best if the leather is warm and supple. Work in with a nail brush, allow to dwell for 30 seconds then wipe off with a damp cloth. Keep cleaning the cloth out in clean, warm water. Apply a couple of coats of conditioner. Rear, upper seat headrests are prone to drying out badly, so may need a few feeds of conditioner. Likewise, the front seats will need two or three wallops with the cleaner. Best of luck James

The Official Corrado Campaign thread (where are they now)
James. replied to James.'s topic in General Car Chat
That would be great. See if you can get a couple of snaps. -
I had a similar issue. 92 vr6 with a 94 engine. Bought a s/h one from a 92 vr and it didn't fit. Didn't realise there were two types until I got it home.
-
Get the momo product code. Mines 8014 and fits a 92 vr and a 96 8v.

I found eastwoods aluma blast from Frost restoration to be the closest match. Used an airbrush to get in the nooks. -
Great update Paul. What do you use to clean and treat the engine plastics to make them look so good ?
