One of the best and important upgrades for a daily. Mine rushed me £50 s/h but they're worth it. The trim's just known as the three piece scuttle trim.

Black silicone will do the job. But make sure the surface is dry and clean first.

As an 8v owner I have to agree with David. 8valves as a rule weren't highly specified due to what they were. An affordable run out model. So as a result, leather is seldom seen, unless added later. They do crop up in the full range of VW metallics/pearls though, so VW must have had one last push at flushing the last batch out with aesthetically more pleasing colours. From what I've read, there were only 219 8valves made, with a mix of 2 types of engine code. All 1995/96. They do crop up from time so be patient and a car will find you. If it is an 8v you want then as with any Corrado do your homework first and buy on condition, not colour. PS: be prepared to travel. Best of luck, James.

Depends on colour/recaro/standard/heated/early or late/time of the year etc etc

VR6 Lee - Corrado VR6 Storm Mystic Blue Build thread
James. replied to VR6 Lee's topic in Members Gallery
Isn't there a thermal switch that cuts in at a lower temp ( mk4 unit? ). Has one of these been fitted ? -
There was a grey 16v on the bay. Only in StHelens but looked more than a little tired. May be best to broaden your search, but don't dive in if it's your first. For some reason Lancashire has always never had a lot of Corrado owners.

Sherry pearl spotted (by my dad) in Lytham on Thursday. Didn't get which type.

Performed a very similar task to my carpets when they were out. Used Timottei shampoo on the carpets and it worked an absolute treat. Smelled nice as well. Gliptone and AG interior cleaner rock my world.

2.0 Alfa GTV ?

I've spotted that one as well. Looks very good in the photos. And in a nice colour too. Would have thought that would have flown out by now. Especially considering how many absolute dogs go for nearly a grand on eBay.

The last price on the system is £77 plus the vat. Thanks for the offer. I'll see how I get on with a refurb, as with a bit of patience it should turn out okay. Seems that every time I visit the dealer for a part that I expect to be dear, it's cheap, and vice versa. Just bought some disc brake shields and they were £6 each !

If it's like the VR6, then you want boss number 8014. As you would expect they're used on other VW's so they pop up on ebay for less than a tenner regularly.

Thank you oh kind oracle. I found the three to choose from along with the exploded diagram but it didn't look quite right. Either way the parts obsolete so another for the (ever increasing) refurb pile !

Maybe let the people decide Lee. Perhaps use the "poll facility" at the head of the page with the two places you mention and set a deadline for perhaps the week before. Otherwise the date may pass with no one making a decision. I'm in either way but Jodrell bank will always get my vote. It's a real dish ( fnar fnar ).

What an awful job that is. Those three 10mm bolts are a real pain. And that's not factoring in the strained back and neck. Can't have a Corrado with a jippy spoiler though. It's secretly half the reason we bought one in the first place.

Corrado 2.0 16V ABF - Tornado Red (and other parts)
James. replied to t700bes's topic in Cars for Breaking
Cheers for the images. I'll have the parts requested: Front 50mm splitter £15 Spoiler control module £10 Postage £10 How long till you're able to post ? Thanks once again, James. -
Been to VW today for a few bits. Dip stick tube still available: £20 plus vat. Think I'll paint it for now and if it offends me then purchase a new one. Struggled with a part number for the alu heat shield. It sits behind the manifold and protects the brake lines. About A4 sized. Anybody have a clue ?

Corrado 2.0 16V ABF - Tornado Red (and other parts)
James. replied to t700bes's topic in Cars for Breaking
You're a gentleman sir. Now, how was the condition of the splitter ? -
Thanks Paul. Ancillary bracket is being blasted, though I'm undecided what to do with it. Don't really want to leave it unfinished, but I guess I'll wait to see what it comes out like. I've got a couple of types of metal refinish paint, so I guess one of those. In an ideal world I'd leave all the metal parts in an unfinished/raw state, but don't particularly want to be refinishing the parts again any time soon. Added to the fact that some of the other parts will have a coat of some sort, I guess there has to be some sort of continuity. What say you ? I was going to enquire about a new dipstick tube at VW. Bet you'll know if they're obsolete or not ? ---------- Post added at 12:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 AM ---------- I'm so excited about getting the coated parts back (sad isn't it). Not ordered any bolts yet. Trying to take it one step at a time (financially and literally). This time last week I had no intentions of kicking the restoration back off. But another week passes and here we are. Think I'll break out ETKA for parts numbers and do it all in one hit. Don't mind spending a small amount of time at Corkills as they have an excellent range of beverages, along with a seating area where I could eat my packed lunch.

You'll never get top whack on the bay, but you probably know that already. Perhaps leave it in a busy area with a for sale sign on it ? Right car, wrong time ? Keep us posted on how you get on. All the best, James

Not wrong there Adam. The finish on yours is very good indeed. A good friend has just finished painting his engine block, so is dropping round the remainder of the can this weekend. Bought some grey metal paint from the Frost website this afternoon for the alternator. Wasn't happy with the colour so will be giving it a dress up again. I'm a right giddy kipper at the moment. ---------- Post added at 09:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:06 PM ---------- Laugh in a positive way I hope ! No, but thanks for the pat on the back. I've needed a bit of a shove recently, what with all the other "projects" that are going on in my life. Lining up at Harewood and Tatton with some of the best Corrados (and best cars on show to boot!) in the country really inspired me to tap in to the momentum from the past 18 months of work. You've sewn the seed now. As soon as I pick the bits up, I'm going to be itching to give them a sniff. And probably get caught in the process. It's all good.

Ladies and gents. Eyes down for a full house... Well it all kicked off, a right old fashion this week. After months of having to go in the garage for other jobs and seeing the campaign, sat stranded in a sad state of affairs, I picked up the courage (and a wire brush) to feel the love and dedication once more. Like a snow ball cast adrift at the crest of a wintery mountain, we soon gathered momentum. And it's safe to say that by the end of the day we were cooking on all four rings. So let's crack on with cleaning the engine components shall we. Picked out a couple of "easy uns" to tease me in gently. Worked the wire brush down to a nub and then set about cleaning down with a bit "o" pre paint. Inlet manifold (both parts), rocker cover, brackets, pumps etc etc are breathed on via the wonder that is Alumablast and we are on to a real Michael Winner. Spread out all the bits that need powder coating like butter across the garage floor. A quick phone call to the powder coaters, a lash of crusty metal into the 8Valves boot. A brief lunch of left over courgette risotto in the northern sunshine and were under starters orders. Half an hour later, my lumps of obsolete obscure offerings are left behind. An hour later I'm back home in the garage and applying a second coat to my new found forged friends. To say I'm happy with the results is an understatement. Out in the sun the results are astonishing. The suns solar rays really bounce on the coating. Any hooo, this time next week, I'll have the bits back from senior powder coater and hopefully I'll have pushed on with some more restoring. Now, where's the the key to the safe, so I can lock away some of this ere' enthusiasm, while I've got it...
