  1. There's a middle visor on Lupos, anybody checked that one out ?
  2. I'd be interested to see if these fit as well as OE Recaros. Capital seating would be the first place to call upon for prices. Though they would probably be at full RRP and would imagine you've already done that. Direct from Germany ?
  3. Loving the thread, car and results. Cost wise what does it stand you at (just the conversion) ? Looks totally OE. You must be well chuffed.
  4. You're hard work is paying dividends in the result Andy. I only wish I could see it at a show, but alas I fear due to work/social commitments I may not be able to. I agree you should stand firm with what you deem "fair" as an asking pice though. You're car is aimed at the person who wants a well looked after weekend classic on the cusp. There is a buyer out there. It's just a matter of when they decide to show their hand. Wonderful once again.
  5. I'm just keeping it warm for you Andy ! ---------- Post added at 09:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:55 PM ---------- A wonderful week of mixed skys and emotions Adam. What's the prognosis on the engine ?
  6. Not a lot of movement on the Campaign front Andy. Thanks for asking. Best intentions and all that. I had two weeks off and had commited it all to the Corrado. After the first week of splitting joints/shocks/brakes, feeling like I was getting no-where and an expensive visit to Corkills VW Wigan, I kind of lost the love. So in week two I: Built a fence. Went to Chester Zoo. Mowed the lawn (twice). Fixed the strimmer. Arranged two impromptu barbeques. Played with Oscar in the blazing sunshine (often) I've also taken on another restoration project. But it's a house this time. I don't want to admit it, but it looks like the Campaign won't be seen out this year. But maybe I have another Corrado up my sleeve...
  7. Tres bien VR6 you have there. The Recaros are rather pleasing to the eye to boot. Another Corrado in the North west. Hoorah !

    Cam alignment

I've got the Bentley and plan to read the relevant sections in the sunshine tomorrow. Just been over to VW vortex as well. I'm a little more confident since I started this thread. I got a little panic on before. Sure It'll be fine...

    Cam alignment

My main concern is that the two cams don't line up with each other and that one may have jumped teeth.

    Cam alignment

What started out as a major job has descended into farce. I'm mid way through replacing the tensioners and guides. I started to remove the bolts from the flywheel and in my haste forgot to secure the cams. Safe to say the cams started to rotate. In a moment of blind panic I turned the flywheel back anti-clockwise. The cams now don't line up. Damn. How do I rectify this awkward situation ?
  11. http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_gaskets.php I tend to always go the VAG route when it comes to things like this, but here's an alternative. It may also be worth checking the oe parts prices as there may be little in it. On a positive, the Passat looks nice enough ! Where abouts are you ?
  12. Brave man. I tip my cap to you for taking such a task on. Firstly you've got a non- original vr6. As vr's were only available from 92. So it may be worth while checking the whole engine bay out to make sure that it's been put together safely and correctly. If you're replacing the head gasket then I'd replace the head bolts as well. Lights may not have been connected up if the front bumpers been off at some point ? Best of luck and keeps us up to speed. PS, There's loads of help on past threads if you use the search function.
  13. Pepper white (was on here for sale a while back) VR6 in Wigan on Pottery road, today at about 3pm. Was outside Nissan chatting to a friend about Corrados.
  14. Hi Tom Looking for a "Damper bolt". This it the bolt that screws in the side of the engine and keeps the tension on the chain. let me know if you need an image to assist. Thanks in advance, James.
  15. I take you'll be removing the sunroof and stripping all the dirt/dust and grit from the runners/cables first ?
  16. Hi Chris Looking for images of: Drivers door Wing mirrors Bonnet Tailgate Both bumpers More importantly, close up images of any damage to them. Kind regards, James
  17. it'll be worth it when it's all back together and looking top class. Are you having the Shrick shot blasted clean ?
  18. Haven't been in a few years but always enjoyed this show. fingers crossed, we should be at this again this year.
  19. Snack sized update. After much faffing, driving and trawling I've found a shot blaster and powder coater. Seems no one does both in and around the West Lancs side of town. Shot blasting will be carried out by a chap in Wigan who I happened upon years back and amazingly is still at the end of the dusty road he was years ago. Whilst powder coating duties shall be handled by Vanden over in Westhoughton (Cow yed territory as some say in and around the borough). Will be dropping the parts off next week and should have them back within 48 hours. So much to do. Just as well it's a four day week next week, followed by two weeks off. Looks like I'll be pretty much sleeping/eating/dancing/mending in the garage then...
  20. I bought an original item in August 2010. 535 121 251 E - £182.35 + vat - Got the dealer (Corkills - Wigan) to throw the coolant (G12++) in with the price. Which is nice. Fitted it myself in a day.
  21. Started striping back all the untreated metal components in the engine bay of their years of rust/corrosion/oil and grime. There's parts that I have cleaned up but I'm not happy with the finish (see image enclosed): I was considering painting the parts (Manifold, gear box, rocker cover, alt, brackets etc) as I don't want to be having to take all the engine bay apart again any time soon. Or am I missing a trick about maintaining them. Constructive suggestions welcome as always NB: I would like the parts to be as close to new looking as possible. So no polished bits.
  22. You'd struggle to find a better looked after car than Andys (C5 OEM). Go and have a look at it and if you measure up, he may even let you buy it off him ! There's a couple of us on here from the Wigan area. I'd say pop round, but the cars in a thousand pieces so hardly road worthy. As with most old/classic cars, nine times out of ten they're bought with the heart and the overall running costs are rarely considered. Where abouts in Wigan are you ? There's an Ice Grey Violet VR6 for sale at Gordons Honda (near Latics ground): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250795584700&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123#ht_1142wt_1128
  23. A good body shop should be able to touch in and mop it, without any issues. Regarding the damage, seeing as he's doing it for free I see now reason why the work he's doing shouldn't restore the balance. Bearing in mind that as said before, once you start driving it, the car will pick up small blemishes. You should see mine. I've covered a couple of hundred miles since the paint and it has to go back for a few corrections already. Best of luck with what you decide.
