i love the scirocco seats too - the first thing i thought when i saw my first set was "those would look fantastic in a rado!" top work buddy! :D and good luck again with the car - sure it will be sorted for you very very soon! you have been so patient so far (i know th feeling!) - all that will be forgotten the second you get in the drivers seat 8)
-
well i guess so, but i didn't realise to what extent! - exactly how many sets of seats/interiors do you have now?! (and lets not mention the number of sets of alloys etc etc!) love it :D - we are all slaves to the VW money-pit!
-
TART! :D 8)

i hope so mate :) and i'm afraid your guess's were close, but no cigar. i think i know :) (you told me when we met at stealth unless you have bought another interior since!) but i'll keep it to myself - don't want to steal your thunder karl! :ignore: best of luck matey - so very very close now, can't wait to meet up and run mine along side yours when they are both all sorted! :) really looking forward to seeing yours finished

1. no it shouldn't matter about that at all 2. sorry but i'm unsure exactly as to the best way to carry out the wiring - i chickened out here and got someone else to do the wiring for me once i had done the mechanics. 3. for my r32 conversion i had to source a bracket from a 24v to make my alternator/pas setup work. afaik you should already have the bracket required on your 24v engine. it's only the mk5 r32 that causes problems, as it has electronic power steering, so the bracket is completely different. it shouldn't matter if it's an air-con or non air-con variant; if you're not using the aircon pump, then you can just leave it off and you shouldn't have any issues (again, afaik). you should be able to retain the existing tensioner/pulley from the 24v and use that with the 12v pas pump and either 12v/24v alternator (makes no difference which afaik). as for the belt you need - i can't remember the part number or anything like that (have a look through the definitive 24v thread for that), but i think the one you need is for a 24v golf and the non air-con variant (unless obviously you are planning to run it with air-con). on, and you don't have to remove the air-con; you can still do the install and retain the air-con without any dramas. (personally i would only do this though if your car already has air-con, as fitting the air-con system to a car that wasn't originally air-con is a bit of a mission). 4. i'm unsure if you will have to get a downpipe fabricated. i would honestly be surprised if the 24v one was a direct fit, but you won't know for certain until you try and fit it in all honesty! IMO, retaining the factory ecu is by far the way forward (unless you are looking to force-feed it at some point in the future). and it is better to retain as much from the new car as you can. my car has the diagnostics port from the mk5, so i still have full vag-com which is the nicest way of doing things. hope that helps :)

white smoke is generally caused by water inrgess into the cylinders - you might want to get a compression test done for peace of mind...

i can't remember now as it was a while since i did my wheel bearings; but some (most i think actually) bearings don't like being run without some kind of clamping force on them to hold them together and in place (i.e the driveshaft with the hub nut done up on it). some bearings are effectively in two halves and if you tow/push the car over any significant distance, then the bearings will destroy themselves! that's all in very layman's terms as i can't remember which type of bearings the corrado has or which type destroy themselves; but you shouldn't need to undo the hub nuts and take the driveshafts out anyway if you are just removing the engine.

hey there buddy - i may well be selling mine before long... check out the 1st page of my build thread for some pics - viewtopic.php?f=11&t=62901&start=0 probably be looking for about £75 posted with the oil pressure sender...
-
nobody has managed to get it working to date afaik....
-
sorry be i can't be bothered to type out all of my mods etc - check out my sig to give you an idea... i'm paying £850 fully comp with an agreed valuation of £7k with all mods declared. i'm also allowed to drive other cars and my excess is £350. i've just turned 25 (was 24 when i insured it about a month ago) and live in a relatively (touches wood!) crime-free area. i only have the one years no claims because last year i decided to park my impreza on top of a metal lamp post! (really not badly damaged or anything - but still a claim nonetheless  ) i'm with herts insurance consultants (HIC) - there is an advert on the board index which rotates which insurer it displays. if you ring them up ask for martyn in the quotes team - absolutely top bloke (is a member on here and had a corrado himself until recently) :) edit - have a thatcham cat 1 and an additional immobiliser fitted

i was talking to karl about this and he said the difference is very noticable - it's all about the 4-pots! :norty:
-
the ones for a leon cupra r :)
-
and they give you five every time the wheels rotate!
-
one side is different to the other - like the hubs are handed for example - the discs are designed separately for different sides, so you can't just swap them over. you also get handed track-rod-ends etc etc
-
cheers buddy - completely slipped my mind. this really will be the corrado r32 forum before long!

if i'm counting my onions right here then; there's going to be: 1. mine 2. Karl's 3. Kip's 4. Coxy's 5. Herisites' 6. Yeti's 7. biggerbigben's 8. poss Quicky 1980's that's EIGHT Corrado R32 conversions!!! and that's without even mentioning those who are just contemplating doing it or those who have done 24v conversions! there were none not so long ago (save phatvr6 and the like who don't use this forum anymore) - i guess it's the "fashion" at the moment!

pete_griff replied to CorradoVR6-Turbo's topic in General Car Chat
you really do have to see that to believe it  i wonder how fast they were going/where they were when it happened. i bet the noise it made was "interesting"! and that spanish build thread is something else isn't it - it's international now! -
noticed you've updated your sig buddy - is the beastie alive again?!? :)

sorry to hear you're having these issues buddy - really wish i could help, but i am certainly no wiring guru (which is why i chickened out on my own car and paid someone else to do it). really hope you get it all sorted asap. if it's any use to you (doubt it as you are running emerald, nut...) i can give you the number of the guy who sorted my wiring out (07775677411 - Mark at South West InCarTech) - he's a really nice guy, very helpful and i would be very surprised if he didn't know something that could help you... -
happy days :D looking forward to seeing piccies of it starting to transform asap Rob - from my first drive of my own car, (even in limp mode) i can assure you - it's well worth it :D
-
loving the sleeper look of your motor there buddy - great stuff :D you seriously need to get some bigger brakes with the 24v engine though! :? that rumbling sounds like either a wheel bearing or a CV joint (more likely the outer one if it's more obvious when turning) - have a look through your receipts to see when they were last done. short of that (unless you've already done it...) jack the car up and rotate/rock the wheel while it's in the air - that should hopefully make things more apparent... loving the "winter look!" by the way  - mine gets the same as i do long journies, so i sympathise with you there

First ever produced VR6 motor in MK2 golf...?
pete_griff replied to CorradoVR6-Turbo's topic in General Car Chat
that rocco is awesome! :D wonder why they took so long to bring out the 24V VR if they were working on it all the way back then??? the golf mk4 was the 1st time we saw the 24v wasn't it and that was late nineties! -
First ever produced VR6 motor in MK2 golf...?
pete_griff replied to CorradoVR6-Turbo's topic in General Car Chat
that has to be a prototype for the VR looking at that (inlet manifold, rockers, plugs etc), looks like have they tilted the engine for clearance issues instead of running the manifold over the rocker cover... (be interesting to know what date that piccie was taken) that's really interesting, i've never heard of anything like that before; guess they must have needed a car for the development of the VR and the golf might have been it at the time. didn't the VR6 originally take ages to develop - they tried to bring it out sooner than they actually did, but failed due to issues when designing it i think... cool pic anyway - cheers! :D -
it may not be what you want to hear - but i'm 100% with Jim on this one i'm afraid. granted the TT is a nice car, and i appreciate you want to feel a bit special again () - sorry! anyway - you (in my eyes) really wouldn't be getting much of an upgrade for such a large cash layout. i would definitely hold onto the leon if it was me - you don't see many of them and they are lovely cars, as i'm sure you know. if you're desperate for a change, why not save the 5 grand you would spend on a TT, sell the Leon for the 6k as mentioned and just use the 6k to buy the mintest 'rado you can find - you said yourself you were missing it. that way you can use the 5k if you need it to sort out any problems that may develop with the C. you should be able to get hold of an immaculate C with all potential problems sorted if you're waving the likes of 6k around. that way you're happy in returning to rado ownership again and feeling special again, you won't suffer from further finance (not to mention the horrible depreciation newer cars suffer) and you'll have a car that should be immaculate if you have that sort of money to throw at it. (my rado will shortly be back on the road having had more or less everything sorted. i'm not thinking of selling it; but if i was i would be after about 6-7k for it, and more or less every major moving part in it has been replaced!) hope you manage to arrive at a decision that suits you and the mrs anyhow :)
