The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
Veearrhsix replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Oh stop it! :camp: -
That's cheating! :notworthy: Loving the colour! Is it VW or other? Edit: Rover nightfire red... Just twigged.
-
My fave thing about those cars is the fact that they used such high powered lights in the gullwing doors that if you accidentally left the door open for more than 4 mins without the engine on it would drain the battery! Still a quality car, maybe they'll bring them back just like VW have with the scirocco! :cuckoo: It would probably come back as a hatchback and not a coupe then! :pale:

That's 1 point 21 jiggawatts isn't it   88mph! (shouted in Christopher Lloyd's voice tho). I wonder if Halfords are selling something we don't know about... Mr Fusion range?
-
I would've gone into Halfords and found out who's it was and paid for a quick spin (as a passenger of course) :luvlove: (I wonder how much they'd ask for?) :notworthy:
-
Technically my sister took these earlier today outside a Halfords - White City retail park at Old Trafford. Not that far from where we live... Wish I was there tho. Rarer than a Corrado - would've loved to have parked up next to it for a photo. She said it had a matt finish to it, so the steel body must've needed a good polish.
-
..here's mine as it goes so far (there are plans for this baby yet) Waxed but not polished as yet... engine bay is near to sparkling shine as one could do in a day... wheels need refurbishing (TBH, the whole body needs a respray - and the engine could do with an overhaul, but that's a common violin-ridden song among Rado owners eh?)... Chassis could do with a tweak too. But despite a list of a load of other major setbacks, I ruddy love this car. Probably to a point where I know most non-Corrado drivers would shake their heads, and say, trade it in... Pah - never... :salute:
-
Daily and it ruddy shows.:splat:

I think most people do too ...I know I would if I had a that kind of power on tap. Just think - you could have 600 bhp from that lump one day!

Just studying the difference of crookesey's and iggi's "skirt" depth on their front bumpers. Is the shorter depths a custom job? crookesey?

Don't drive in the wet - you'll ruin the immaculate underside. It's museum perfection looking at the pics. Whish mine was like that.

My best Ferrari of all time - got to say there is some resemblance between the Rado above to this GTO.
-
Got to agree on the that - Nice front bumper too. Bold stance. I think choice of wheels is a very personal matter tho, and as I've seen so far, it's quite varied, and touch and go. Most other colours of car seem to get away with it easier, but particular attention has to be spared for our choice of wheel. Noticed the sidestrips are left on the majority of the Rado's. Red needs a bit of black on it just to match the rest of the various plastic trim. If they weren't there tho, I'd favour removing the sidestrips. Balance is key.

What to do - respray or replace (correct colour) panels??
Veearrhsix replied to MARLBORO_LITE's topic in Exterior
Considering rust, keyed door and other bits and bobs, you're asking for a temporary fix until you've got the funds for a proper job (full respray), aren't you? Massive compromise the temporary way - up to you. Forgive the harsh way of putting it, but IMO, it'll be like polishing a turd, unless you get the little niggles done to exactly match the rest of the paint work. By the way, I'm a nice guy, so not insulting you there on the turd thing. :tumbleweed: -
Waxed my car nearly a month back - forgot to coat a super gloss shine into it after applying the resin... Thing is, a lot of hard work - as you'll know to get the red looking stunning... each time you go and wax it. Not a lazy guy - but a practical one (one tries to be anyway) - anyway getting to the point , found this on the internet. Might be what we've been looking for. Any recommendations? So how will the radio work? I mean, is it digital? Coz you've rather sexily smoothened over the ariel... 8)

...not Twins Pines Mall back in 1985 is it? ...Ahem - Back To The Future?

...Very nice red finish! Reconditioned alloys? Can't see those tiny weights on the outside. I think chrome finished alloys do suit the red look more. Usually it's bling and tacky - but on red cars it's a must I find. Because the red is such a predominant feature it will make any other metal look slightly dull.

Speaking of Sciroccos... Police tonight, while I was parked in the hills came by and checked me out - Obviously wanting to know why I was up there. Anyway their conversation steered towards the C. One with a torch shone a light over the my car, saying "Oh yeah, Life On Mars isn't it? Do you watch that at all - nice car isn't it?" I'm like - "...you mean Ashes to Ashes?", he's like "...err yeah". I say "That's an Audi", He's like "...oh right." "So this is a Scirroco then?" I'm like no... Didn't care to tell him what it was in the end. His colleague then looked at me and rolled his eyes!

rado-steve Re. sidestrips - a bit like how Peugeot used theirs back on there 205's GTI? http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee89 ... -a_002.jpg =lesser/pansy-ish http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee89 ... pic117.jpg =more/grrrrr

She's gleaming!! Wish my paint looked as good as that. Same here! Wing's gone matty, front bumper's gone pink, bonnet is just a @£$%ard to look at... but just knowing this link is here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=61125&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=red+polish helps, and this one viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58599&p=693165&hilit=black+trim+polish#p693165 ...to keep the Rado looking good for well at least a couple of days. :bonk: Oh and this is a bloody good pic! Those wouldn't happen to be 16" BBS 301 RS shoes it's wearing rado-steve? P.S. normally a no-go area, but those vents in the bonnet are a massive must have!

Jammy sod! 8)

One of my favs... Like the tidier rear bumper - the chunkier wheels are quite compatible with the chunky body too overall.
-
Better with or without the sidestrips? This could go for every Rado.
