it used to be 92 but they changed it a few years back , and the older engine in a newer car thing is correct to but you have to prove its age , there being the difficult part especially if the 2 engines have the same engine codes but still are out of different age cars ,ie pre cat age or later , so you could take an engine from a 93 vr and put it in a 95 vr and not have to have a cat test in the 95, daft really them moving the age from 92 - 94 when they are trying to keep emmisions down weird , but it suits me cat out a bit more go every bit helps :) and on that note a car does not even need a cat any age if it is capable of meeting the emission limits
  4. hi mine does it too after a down hill run ,no idle smoke at all no hard acceleration smoke and no start up smoke at all i have been followed to make sure just a little on down hill over run but not all the time , my advice is ignore it you could spend a lot of money chasing the fault and if your that bothered and its a long hill use neutral down the hill its not quite the driving route you should take but it works , i had a 5 pot audi that did it to and also used next to nothing in oil , a tiny amount of oil can make a lot of smoke , and the 5 pot audi did it for over 3 yrs then i sold it and it still kept going no problem that was a stem seal problem too , my vr has a steel dipstick right to the top no plastic end in answer to your last question :D
  5. hi mine had a plastic one but thats what i took out , so thats what i put back and it service history was all v.a.g , so i really have not been much help my cars a 94 vr if it has any bearing on the matter :D http://www.sct-germany.de/robots_fil1000805.html try this both filters are listed for corrado abv engine code

hi if its only mot your worried about it does not fall into cat testing nor do 94 cars its only after that it needs a cat test so your car on a 93 it is well out of a cat test it just has to pass the idle emissions at 3.5% co which should be no problem , all cars upto 94 inclusive do not require a cat either for test hope this helps and there is nothing wrong with k jet injection it much more straight forward (bring back the old days)
  7. it must be the size of the badge as you said it was not a dig just an observation looks nice , do all the golf badges come shiney or do they have a brushed one like the C s one
  8. if it was mine i would put the badge a little closser to the outer edge, i did not realise the grill badges were so hard to get hold of bugger i will have to take it off and put it in the cupboard :D
  9. i know sekurit do the corrado one but pilkington do make genuine ones for the v.a.g. cars as i worked on a seat today and every window was pilkington and seat stamped , so they cant be that bad :)
  10. i guess as long as they look right in relation to the rear when you eye up down the car and they are the same as each other with the bubble its better than guessing it
  11. thats ok but what degree was that set too :) and the floor has to be level too

  18. had these on my last car so i can say yes to big brakes as they were fantastic ,spec was 365mm and full floating discs with 8 pot brembos ,but i am not convinced the vr brakes are that bad but i will be upgrading then for performance and cosmetic reasons and due to a little track time , just not sure what to go for so any advice would be good all i will mention is i run 16" azev a and i am not looking to replace them or fit spacers so they have to fit in them cheers for any help
  19. i got a switch from a late mk2 there nothing like early corrado ones and are far better than the late corrado ones which frankly are rubbish , they feel course and horrible even from new ,the mk2 golf switch is a perfect fit all terminals on the plug are the same numbers and positions and it plugs straight on its identical plug wise and feels a much better quality and does not get hot , my mum has a 88 mk2 gti still with its original switch , there is a definate flaw with the design and longetivity of the corrado switch to only last a couple of years or so ,and as for the price, corrado switch 50 ish pounds and the mk2 golf switch 17 pounds whats goin on there
  20. blade fuses only go down to 3.5a so if you want lower it has to be a glass fuse
  21. ive got a pilkington one no issues at all fits perfect
  22. hi thats an easy job once you have relayed your lights , you put a diode between the coil energizer feeds on the relays, diodes are one way systems for electricity so its normal on dip then when you switch to main the diode allows the main beam energizer wire on the relay to feed the dip relay energizer wire ,and hey presto dip and main together
