  1. have'nt seen the driver view countdown yet - very interesting. great for F1 type starts and the obligitory Traffice light GP
  2. Had a '99 S3. Hard to comment as it was an impluse (stupid) purchase. Looked stunning though. Have only recently being thinking of getting a 2001 Phase 2 S3 next year. So interesting to read this thread :salute: Good points; as before, a very luxurious smaller car, nice modern step-up from 'raddo. understated appearance - but with obvious lean towards performance quattro is great, very reassuring the good honest cars will hold value very well Bad points: 1.8 engine can lack the Brrrrrap of the big guys found the acceleration very 'hmmmmm', but then on some days she'd fly off  (again, mine was sh!t) Phase 1 (99-00) I think, had factory re-call on rear suspension arm link thingy. Mine hadn't been done and collapsed in the driveway one night, thankfully, i suppose. For that reason along I'd steer well clear of any phase 1's. Just IMHO. pic of my old one.
  3. anyone got any odd rituals when setting off - driving - parking up their 'raddo's?? Sure I'll start.... ALWAYS clean the rear of the car of dirt and dust, just a quick rub down using my 'on-board cleaning kit' basically a Tesco bag with old cloths, Mr Muscle window cleaner/back2black/spare Oil&Coolant - can't have one of the best views of the car ruined by a tardy appearance. :nono: Dust down the footwell carpets - especially the passenger one, as the 'corrado' logo is still near brand new! Pop the roof to 'tilt'. wait till I'm on the open road before putting on the choons! always bring engine temp to 84 degree's before any, ahem, 'spirited' driving  in line with above I drive just under the 55mph so's not to deploy the rear spoiler until blast off - having watched a few C's from behind, it's a sweet sight as they lift off and the spoiler sneaks up, like the cars about to go into 'warp drive' New One: when on quiet bit of big open safe road :norty: , like to bring her slowly up to 2,500rpm in 1st gear, then woooshhhhh' aply some welly and be constantly amazed now quick this car is
  4. ''When chufties go bad - Part Deux''
  5. exactly. of course the muppet would use the scars to peddle another lava flow of utter sh!te about how he took on three bouncers outside the China White, sent them running to the hills and then shagged every famous chick in the club....even the red haired yoke from Girls Aloud. Who was an animal in the sack and who's passport actually had, Name: 'The Ginger One'. they're entertaining if nothing else. On the Biker appreciatation bit - yeah, loads of love form the two wheeled warriors. Always let them through at lights etc. As for Australia - I'm thinking leaving Australia and selling a Corrado are the exact same. You instantly reget the decision! It's an awesome place.
  6. talk about starting from scratch! Amazing build project. was thinking we see it all finished and couple'a video's of it in action  book marked for follow up later. good spot matt
  7. website i stumbled upon....the posts in relation to the VR6 were.....interesting  http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/car-talk/346334-vw-corrado-vr6-storm.html would'nt you just love to meet this dope at the lights
  8. ` sweet looking car! Just a query - obviously looks wise, the bonnet removed is very cool, but any gain or improvment to the running of the car? Less heat in the bay = healthier engine?? Not a long term thing needless to say, what with weather etc
  9. the little cap from off the top of the gear stick fell off last night :( went into the house, got some SuperGlue, stuck it down. Checked this morning..perfect
  10. Cameron Diaz is my girl...or would be if she ever bothered to turn up at my pub. put in ''2fm Gift Grub Tom Cruise'' into youtube....v.funny  there just audio clips but still a hoot
  11. holy sh@t sticks Batman! 2.9secs!! I can't even being to imagine what that must feel like from a drivers perspective, or a passengers. Sure only last Sat my brother jumped into the drivers seat of my new Miltek'd VR to see how if felt. We rolled her along in 1st up to 3,000rpm and then dropped it. :pale: :ignore:  !! Even I was blown away..so to comprehend 2.9sec, WTF, surley the thing would pull your arms off! as for the show - the BBC fairly quickly, and correctly assumed that the mass car buying public got more info, reviews and comparisons prior to making a purchase from our friend the internet. So correctly went down the 'entertainment' route. still don't like the staged stuff though...we're not 5yrs old
  12. hang on.....did anyone see Fifth Gear recently. They did the exact same piece on the R8 cab V 911 Turbo cab. Hmmmmmm
  13. good point - shame there isn't one - but the forum is just as good as any mag i reckon. Leopardstown eh?? Mate of mine said he saw a tidy 1992 G60 round your way last week...yourself
  14. was driving along in the middle lane, messing with CD player.....looked up and saw the front of a Porsche 993 very close to bum bum of my VR. So he sits there a while, I decide, sure what the hey, and drop her into four and blip away. He quite easily catches up and then pulls out to overtake....very slowly...finally I see the driver and he's got the big thumbs up going on. I also give his car the thumbs up and follow behind for a while. I'd say he was well chuffed!! Just IMO, the back of a 993 is stunning, but the front a bit less so  I wasn't sure what it was at first, thought it was a 928 :confused4:
  15. Haven been left a note on my car on Wednesday asking me why I'd used two spaces in the car park, I requested the thoughts of a learned friend. His reply is below, plus my response. It's just inviting trouble. Why not just park in ONE spot ALLLLL the way over there? If someone is going to park beside you ALLLL the way over there, they aint gonna park right beside you! Its mathematics. Probability. Chance. The chances of someone parking RIGHT beside you in a virtually empty car park ALLLL the way over there is fairly low... unless they WANT to ding your door. Parking in two spaces raises these chances considerably... hence the note in the link I sent you. Its like waving a flag "Heeey!! Yoo HOO!! you over there! IM PARKING IN TWO SPACES!!! YEAH ME!!! YOU KNOW WHY????....YOO HOO!... HELLOOO?... harrumph...oh hang on.. here comes someone else...YO! HEY!" Moral of the story. Just park in one spot dingus. Say, your a lemur in the Serengeti. You stay out of trouble, away from the lions... The lions are over the other side of the car park, close to the train station. They can see you... but you are too far away for them to want to come closer and have a feast. Keeping to your daily routine... not raising any attention to yourself, all goes nicely. no undue attention brought on yourself. Then one day, Mr lemur starts to walk on its hands...back and forth back and forth, raising heads and attracting attention because its out of the norm... when suddenly BAMM! its run over by the rangers Land Rover. One spot. No hassle. My response (discontinue reading if this is utter tripe - just was feeling bored today) ..and therein lies the root of the issue. As proven by numerous threads in many car forums. You come out to your car. Which is parked in ONE SPOT, miles from anywhere, and low and fu#king behold, someone's parked right beside you. I could get literally dozens of cases of this. The reason this happens according to one doctor-type fella is that people will try and group near things when in wide open spaces. Natural behaviour thing. So I'll continue to do it thank you very much. If someone's going to see it, then drive over and ding your door out've spite, there's a fairly safe chance that if they'd park beside you, with you in one spot, their the find of a#shole/idiot you'll get out of their car and crash their door into yours intentional or not anyway. But this way, you at least give yourself a chance to avoid then. Now I don't want to hear another word on the subject ok?! Or you'll go straight to your room with my slipper wedged up your rectum….[/color] ....he was starting to annoy me
  16.  - pis'n myself.
  17. just a heads up for those of us in sunny Ireland - the annual Vintage & Classic car show is on this weekend in Teranure School grounds in Dublin. Google for map / opening times etc. Sunday July 4th at 12pm'ish I think. Sounds a bit lame, but it's not so much 'Vintage' as 'Modern Classic' and classic modern  sort've thing. Really, really recommend it. Some of the cars there last year were beyond belief and it's a massive event.
  18. walking up to it or away from it when it's parked up.....anywhere. But especially in service station forecourts. I always feel like one of those guys in the Cannonball Run movies. Not the fat guy with the cape. Just breezing in for fuel having to wait with mere mortals and their strange and sad looking cars, and then.....bbbbur'MPPP! and out we go again into the playground 8)
  19. I gave a massive thumbs up to whale-tale porsche the other day on the motorway, it was black and looked so cool and evil. i've always loved them in black since Condorman, and the guy looked really chuffed when I did it. Very true - never know what someone might do or say. But therein lies the beauty of ownership / appreciation. People will know your a good egg (absolute legend  ) when your driving a C, so they feel safe in showing appreciation. It's win-win  I always make a point of making a tit of myself in showing love for classic cars, old Porsches / cool Audi coupes & avants, the rare Renault 5 GT Turbo, old 8 series beemers...you know the sort. Had one young dude in a very cool looking white MK3 GTi (big fan of the black trim against white look) and he partically pulled himself out (off :ignore: ) of his drivers window while sat at traffic lights, to show his love for the 'raddo. That kind've commitment and blatant disregard for ones own safety has to be admired. I completely ignored him. Kidd'n. We have a quick chat and thumbs up. :salute:
  20. mate - feel for you. reckon it was deffo the car that matched the ding area. What f#cks me off, is these people would look at us as if we had two heads when we point out a dent / dings etc, thinking ''this guy/girl is bonkers to be that worked up over such a small thing''. However, if we were to clumsly bump into someone in a bar and spill, lets say Ribina!, on to a new suit / new dress that someone spent ages saving up for and was very fond of, we'd be asked to pay for dry cleaning I'm sure. If in Tesco etc, I'll park sideways across 2/3 spaces, in quiet part of car park of course! I've yet to be picked up on it.
  21. cheers guys - was nice and simples  I can feel the guaranteed 5% power increase
  22. taking the old air filter out and replacing with K&N panel replacement. Any weirds tricks to this? or tools required? Thanks
  23. rr would be a bonus alright - if the meet up goes well, we can always arrange a Sat hook up and box off the rr then. The Octane yoke I mentioned is, or was, based up in Carrickmines, near Lepardstown Race Course. Apparently there was some scumbags up there the day before the official meet and the car park management people decided to now ban any 'group type' gatherings. will find out where the July 4th one is soon.
