  1. I'm tempted to try and transplant the air con from my 16v into my VR6, but don't want to bite off more than I can chew. Have any regulars retrofitted this to their cars? And if so, would you mind giving me a breif rundown of what you did, and how long it took? My issue is that my VR6 is my daily, so don't really want it off the road for long. Cheers. :)
  2. And the electric Recaros don't sit as low as late stock ones.
  3. Managed to reverse it into a bollard earlier... It was a half height one, saw a line of them, but didn't realise there was one near me . Thankfully, the damage is pretty superficial, and will be gone in 3 weeks :) SO glad I got this wakeup call before the respray! :D
  4. Day two. Today was spent stripping the cloth interior from the Blackberry VR6, and fitting the leather interior. As I started removing the interior from the VR6, I noticed a stark contrast to the 16v. The car had insulation on almost every interior panel, where as the 16v didn't. Is this normal? Under rear seat Behind rear quarter card Transmission tunnel While the carpet out, I decided to give it a good clean and vacuum Thankfully, it's in very good condition. :) As per another thread on here, I bought a Sonic Scrubber from Aldi. Brilliant bit of kit for cleaning intricate parts like this. And this is the end result A huge improvement over the black cloth. Sadly, I don't think the seat heaters are working, but the seats operate perfectly otherwise. It's been like working in a greenhouse over the last two days! :D
  5. I'll swap the parts over from the donor, which means the door card has to come off again. :( Cheers.
  6. Can anyone please tell me what this is/was? Cheers. :)
  7. Today was finally the big day, got started on swapping the interiors. For those who haven't attempted this before, it's not a particularly difficult task, but is a very time consuming one. Essentially, it is to be a straight swap, but also comparing the condition of all interior parts, and swapping the best condition ones into the VR6 where necessary. Passenger seat removed. Not the wiring for the electric seats. The 2 wire loom is for movement, the 6 wire for the heater elements. Full Leather Recaro interior out of the 16v The fusebox wiring. Always fills me with dread. :D Factory fuse holder for seat electrics & heating. Got the Leather doorcards into the VR6. Doing this properly IS a time consuming task. There's a lot of things to get lined up correctly. Also, one of the door locking pins had dropped out on the VR6. On closer inspection, the plastic bracket that holds the rods together had snapped. Rather than removing all the mechanism (which looks like it would be a nightmare!), I used small cable ties in an 'X' to secure the rods to the braket. It works perfectly, and seems like it should last. Those fantastic seats Will pull the interior out of my VR6 tomorrow, and hopefully have all of this fitted by tomorrow night. :)
  8. I think fewer people are using pistonheads, due to the extortionate advert charges. eBay, Car & Classic, and surprisingly Autotrader all seem better for Corrados these days.
  9. No, it isn't glass out. I suggested that, but he insisted that he would be able to get a very good finish without, as the seals are all liftable. The chap does have a very good reputation in this area, and I'm very cautious when it comes to bodyshops. That price is on the proviso that I remove a lot of the trim parts myself.
  10. So, something good / bad happened today. I went to the bodyshop to inquire about touching up the various marks around the bodywork etc. It was going to come to £800, as I would get a better finish by respraying the whole side. Anyways, I asked him about a full respray, which would come to £1500. She's going in for a full respray on the 9th of June. :D After a wheel refurb, she'll look brand new. So far I've spent £2650 on the car, £1000 on the donor car for the Recaros and aircon. So add the price of the respray in, £5150 for a blackberry VR6 with leather Recaros aircon, and brand new paint seems like a pretty good deal, and I'll get quite a bit back by selling the donor car. :)
  11. Ordered what was supposed to be a new OEM Headlight switch on eBay the other day. It's arrived, but is slightly different from the normal switch. The new one is the left hand one. The black 'L' shaped locating pin is in a different position, as is one of the pins. Otherwise it looks identical. Any ideas? I this new one possibly for a LHD car? Cheers.
  12. I have had a lot of comments in the few weeks I've had the car, and it snaps necks in traffic. I do keep it very clean though, and the Blackberry paint looks amazing in the sun
  13. Yep :) I took a screenshot of it a few months ago, and posted it in the spotted thread. :D
  14. I'm having a custom set of Bilsteins built for my VR6 (Custom springs and valving) by a notorious race engineer in Shropshire called Chris Wilson. They won't be height adjustable (though he can supply adjustable platforms), but will be built specifically for fast road use, so improved handling while retaining a decent ride. I'll share my findings when I get these on the car. :)
  15. I'm sure I wouldn't be the first :D But I haven't got room to keep two cars for long, and I currently own 3! :D
  16. Spent a bit of time cleaning the 16v Recaro donor car today, and it's come up really well. The bodywork is probably in better condition than my VR6! :D She seems to run well, but produces a fair bit of white smoke when run for a while. It smells like fuel... Of course, the first thing I checked was the oil cap, which had a little white residue: Pretty certain that is just residue from being stood for a long time, as the white gunk that collects when the head gasket goes tends to be lump and much thicker. Any ideas?
  17. he who dares, and all that! :D To be honest, I feel quite bad for altering it, it is probably the highest spec factory 16v around (Leather Recaros and aircon) At least it will live on though.
  18. The other car has just arrived, and I'm pretty pleased. Seems to run well, and it looks like the paint is good order, at least once all the layers of dirt are removed. :D
  19. Those Rotas are Advan RS clones, but the Advans are in a different league in weight and finish. I had a set on an old Supra. I suspect they only come in 5x114 stud pattern though, and they are at least twice the price of the Rotas.
  20. I'm not sure about the drivers seat, I decided to risk it as I knew it would get snapped up very quickly. Even if it does need a repair, it was still too good an opportunity to pass on. :)
  21. I ordered something for the car... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271476654211?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Another Corrado! :D This one is a 2.0 16v, which I've bought specifically for the factory leather Recaro interior it has. The new car also has aircon, which I'm going to try and transplant.

    Cheap Recaros

It was me :D Going to put the interior in my VR6, possibly the air con too, then sell the whole car on again. I won't break it.
  23. Would the dealer fitted air conditioning system from a 2.0 16v Corrado be a straight fit to a VR6? Cheers. :)
