  1. I've just changed the fuel pump relay on my C today, and decided to have a look at the local wiring. I discovered quite a few unused plugs in that area, does anyone know what these are for? Thanks :)
  2. I've got a late '90s SEAT Ibiza moonroof in mine, but due to struggling to find a decent motor, I have kept the manual winder in for now :D The Corrado panel fits in the SEAT mechanism too, but you have to use the matching inner trim, the sliding sun blind from the Ibiza roof won't work with the Corrado panel, and vice versa.
  3. I get what you're saying about the mechanism, but like i've said, i've tried the motor on both a Corrado and Seat Ibiza sunroof mechanisms, and they behave in exactly the same way. Why I fitted the manual winder that came from the Ibiza, the sunroof retacted smotthly. There was a little more resistance as the sunroof opened fully, but hardly noticeable. Plus, i've inspected two different Corrado sunroof motors from two different cars, and the brushes are in exactly the same state. Perhaps it is a combination of added resistance in the mechanism and poor brushes?
  4. Today, I stripped down the sunroof motor from my donor car, and this is what I found... One end looks fine And the other end... One brush completely worn away, just like the first one. And this is the brushes, removed from their mount I find it highly unlikely that these are two isolated incidents, and wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the main reasons why these cars suffer so many sunroof issues. I couldn't find my soldering iron tonight, but it shouldn't take long to make one good motor from the two. I'll update this when I have made a good one, but it's worth checking this before pulling the sunroof mechanism out of the car, as it only takes 5 minutes to remove the motor.
  5. Hi Emma, I've just sent the money to you. :)(From [email protected]) Thanks. :)

    Side strips

You could spray them with something like Plastidip. :)
  7. I've just installed an Ibiza Moonroof in my Corrado, in the hope of solving the sunroof sliding issue, but it continues to do exactly the same thing. I had already tried the motor from my donor car, and it did exactly the same thing. So, I decided to start stripping the sunroof motor down to see if I could see any issues, and I think I've found the issue. I don't know a lot about electric motors, but I'm sure the brushes aren't supposed to be like this. The brushes on one end look like this. I assume they look healthy. This is what the other end looks like: That doesn't look right. The brushes all look the same, so I think I can use my spare motor to make one good one. I'm guessing these worn brushes are causing the motor to keep cutting out when the sunroof is sliding?
  8. I may be nitpicking, but they've not done a great job on the Corrado CAD model IMO. The headlights/grill look too small, and the rear windows and the roof line look wrong. I guess should just be thankful they included it at all. :D Does anyone know if it is the 2.9l VR6, or the 2.8, as in the SLC?
  9. Spotted a dark blue VR6 parked outside a house in Melbourne near York today. There was also a white classic Beetle on the drive.
  10. Hey guys, due to a lack of space, I'm going to have to sell my 16v as an unfinished project. As those of you who have read my VR6 project thread know, I bought a 16v for the leather Recaros and aircon it came with. I did intend to do the car up and sell it on, but space constraints are making me sell it unfinished. She's a 1995 16v in Aqua blue, with 90k miles according to the clocks. Unfortunately she comes with no service history, but she runs very well, with no unusual noises at all. I would say the shell is very good, there is no rust on the bodywork at all, and only 3 pretty minor dents that I can see. The paintwork seems to clean up very well, with no signs of poor paintwork in the past. The side rubbing strips have been removed. list of known issues: - tyres are all old. She comes with a full set of alloys, but is currently sat on one space saver as the tyre on the other alloy leaks. It comes with a spare tyre, but TBH it wants a new set of tyres. - Sunroof. (surprise, surprise). The sunroof doesn't work, and has been removed from the car as it was leaking. The sunroof is available, but TBH it wants a full working cartridge putting in from an Octavia or Ibiza. - Battery looses charge. I suspect this is due to sitting around for a good year at least. It might recover with use, as it does seem to hold charge for at least a week or so. - Drivers door lock doesn't work with the key. It has remote central locking which works, though you do have to be close to the car. The lock barrels can be changed quite easily though. - I'll be removing the heater box for the aircon parts. The rest of the dash parts will come with the car, and the buyer is welcome to have the stock heaterbox out of my VR6 for free when I do the aircon swap. I've got a few prices in mind, depending on what people want. £400 for the running, rolling shell. Does not include headlights, grill, tail lights or interior. £750 for the lot, inc black cloth interior. Would make an ideal donor car for a Golf etc, or the shell would be perfect to reshell another Corrado, and sell the running gear on to make some money back. NO OFFERS. The car has no tax or MOT, and must be collected from York. You can call me on zero seven 969748957 to discuss, or I'm on the forum most days if you want to fire me a PM. :) Cheers, Jason.
  11. I think it depends on the size of the occupant, and the number of journeys, rather than the mileage.
  12. For those of us who aren't bothered about it looking OEM, but want something presentable for a lot less, I wonder if this may be any good for the roof strips? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-SERIES-2-3-TRUCK-CAB-TO-BODY-RUBBER-SEAL-333486-/370625727102?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item564b03ca7e Use that for the main strip, and reuse the old end caps?
  13. Just out of interest, have both of your motors stopped working completely? My sunroof mech on the VR6 was rebuilt, and it seems to work fine, except that the sunroof never slides back properly. It keeps cutting out. The tilt function is fine. Is this likely to be the motor?
  14. I bid £321 on these, and got beaten at the last minute. I only bid so much, as these are likely the last set of as new trims available, and I wanted to get them copied so that the whole community could benefit. :( Surely as a community, we can put some pressure on VW to start manufacturing these again? Seems stupid that they won't produce parts that they can make a healthy profit on.
  15. I tried buying the ones on ebay to get them copied, but sadly £321 wasn't enough. I hope the buyer comes forward and offers to let them be copied, as otherwise it's going to be a headache getting new ones made.

    VR6 cuts out

Problem solved :) I pulled out the fuel pump relay, and it started. I tried again, and it wouldn't start. I then refitted the relay, and it sprang to life, and has worked perfectly ever since. I'm guessing that the relay is just past its best. I hope people try this before trying other expensive solutions. This is the relay:
  17. Just been onto VW heritage to order some parts, the number plate plinths aren't available.

    VR6 cuts out

My VR6 is almost ready for collection from the bodyshop, and an issue has come up. Basically, the car starts up perfectly as always, but it only runs for a couple of seconds and then cuts out. I've tried starting with the accelerator pressed, and it does the same. Any ideas?
  19. Someone's getting a truly special car
  20. Black plastidip. Some examples of the finish here: http://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sedan/218011-2011-black-g37-w-plasti-dip-grill.html
  21. Mine seems to drive a bit nicer with V-Power in it, though the only other fuel I've tried in mine is BP Ultimate.
  22. Having been back in the Corrado fold for a few months now, it's obvious that there are a few trim parts that are becoming very hard to come by, namely: - Rubber roof/gutter trims - Side bump strips - rear number plate surrounds - Bonnet insulation When I owned my Audi S2, we faced similar issues with exterior trim, and a Polish chap came forward and had some reverse engineered. They were of a very high (OEM) quality. Would there be any interest in getting some of these parts produced? I would of course clear it with the moderators before taking any action, but I can at least find out if he'd be willing to help if the interest is there. Cheers. :)
  23. Was this a dealer option or something?
