It's definitely a GTi. The sunroof is a Britax Weathershield, it is period correct for the age of the car, and I believe they were a dealer fit option. I'll be the first to admit that it is a bit of an eyesore, but on sunny days it adds so much to the driving experience. The opening is much larger than that of the factory sunroof, so you get the rigid shell of a tin top, with some of the open air experience of a cabrio. :) -

The car came with the single headlights, and I assume it is a conversion. All of the late MK1 GTis that 've seen have had twin lights. It has a leather interior, which I assume came from a MK1 Scirocco, as the rear sear is a perfect factory fit, but the fronts have had the sliding mechanisms swapped over. I don't do big miles, and I'm single and live alone, so the 5 series is overkill for my needs. Fantastic car, great at everything, but not very interesting. The Corrado has enough modern creature comforts to make it a plausible daily driver (ABS, decent brakes, power steering, reasonably comfortable interior, reasonable economy). My MK1 has none of these things (the engine revs at almost 4k at 75mph, making motorway journeys expensive!) I want a compromise between my two current cars, and a Corrado VR6 seems like a good candidate to me. :) -

I'd love to have both, but I'm about to loose my garage, and mk1s really shouldn't be kept outdoors. -

She's running the 18. 8v, but it's had a lot of works according to the receipts. TBH 160hp is probably a very optimistic figure, though there is a note from the dyno operator saying something along the lines of "it's VERY fast for an 8v". She's not an immaculate car, but is certainly one of the more solid ones around. -
I'm currently after a Corrado, as I'm wanting to downsize my fleet from two cars, to just the one. I believe a Corrado is a good compromise between the two. :) My daily driver is a manual 2003 BMW E39 530d saloon, and my fun car is this... A MK1 GTi track/ fast road car. :) She's got a dyno printout for 160hp, a shorter ratio gearbox (unknown origin), Vipertech suspension and she's fully polybushed. She's a little weapon! :D Sadly, she's not really a great daily driver, so she'll be going up for sale soon. :(

Probably not your cup of tea, but I would highly recommend a MKIV Toyota Supra twin turbo. Go for a facelift one (like pictured) and you have a choice of 6 speed manual or 4 speed tiptronic transmissions. Both are great, the 6 speeds toughness is legendary. £15000 on a decat, restrictor ring, exhaust, boost controller and an intercooler will raise the power from just over 300hp to over 400hp. Add a clutch to that with a manual car. This is called BPU (base performance uprades) in Supra circles, and it transforms the car. 4000rpm brings an enormous surge as the second turbo kicks in. They're tough, reliable and inexpensive to run for the performance potential. They are seriously good cars, and are good for over 700hp on nothing but bolt on upgrades. The only downside is stock looking examples are very rare, and command quite a premium these days.

Thank you. :)

I had my old wanted thread deleted, as my requirements for my future Corrado have changed somewhat. :) I 100% want a Blackberry car, but I'll consider any spec, mileage and condition. Tax and MOT preferred, but not essential. I would prefer a car with black leather or cloth. I'm looking for something that will become a daily driver, so ideally I'd prefer a solid, enthusiast owned example that comes with proof of lots of care and attention. Cheers, Jason.

Sorry to go off topic Anna, but are you guys doing a seasonal discount any time soon? Need to order a load of bits for my project MK1, but waiting until you guys do an offer. :)

I owned a Corrado Vr6, and a MK2 GTi runout model (oak green with rainbow interior) within a few days of each other, the carpet was a noticeably nicer quality in the Corrado. The Golf carpet is basic and utilitarian in comparison. Unless someone had put a cheap carpet in my Golf, but it looked as if it should have been there.

The price would really depend on the quality of the carpet. The Corrado has a much nicer quality carpet than, say, a MK2 Golf.

Ah, okay. Thanks. :) -
I've sent a few PMs recently, and they're not showing up in my sent items folder. Some older messages are there, but nothing I've sent this year. Is this normal? Cheers :)

IIRC I already had 6 points on my license, then got pulled over for speeding in the VR6. They were going to give me an 'on the spot' fine and 3 points, but because I couldn't produce my license (because I had lost my wallet with the photocard part in a nightclub 2 nights earlier), they sent me to court. They wanted to give me 6 points and take my license from me, but some grovelling on my part saw me get off with 5 points and a heftier fine.
-
To be fair, I wasn't even going very fast. My VR6 didn't like 30mph. It always seemed to struggle in one gear, but rev too high in the one below. Got caught doing 35 in a 30 zone, and ended up with 5 points because I had lost my licence, and had to go to court. :( They're all gone now though, hence the hunt for another Corrado :D

My standard VR6 cost me 5 points! :D

I thought it may be useful to compile a list of websites that we regularly use to search for used cars. I'll start off with the ones I use, and I'd really appreciate any others you regularly use. As others contribute theirs, I'll add them to the list on this post. Please read this first, and try to avoid any duplications. A 135i is probably a better drive, and £10k cheaper.

I thought this may interest some of you. :) I spend a bit of time browsing the Japanese auction and car sale pages, so I thought I'd start a group to share some of the more desirable and/or unusual ones. https://www.facebook.com/jaysjdmpage I hope you enjoy it, and welcome any feedback. Please like and share with people you think may be interested. Cheers. :)
