Bad boy Higgins is your man i just bought one off of him and it was very good, he advertises in the for sale section.....
-
If you are going to paint it you have to get it 100% right and is a pain to keep it that way, i went with brillo pad/WD 40 combo, this photo was taken a year after it was done......

Just had the exact same problem. Are you losing water? If not i bet its the sensor, have a look inside the expansion tank, can you see the two wires going into the coolant? I couldnt see mine as they were so covered in poo so took the expansion tank out, got it as clean as i could with tap water, degreaser etc then put it in the dishwasher (but not the cap......) at 65 degree cycle, all crap gone, end of problem. If you are not losing water, odds on its the (crappy) sensor.....BTW, VW told me it was new radiator time €€€€€€€€......

Diesel Junior replied to holeinmk1's topic in Members Gallery
This is one of my favourite Corrados, they always look good in silver - especially with those rear lights. Good luck with the car mate. -
Thats great news, always good to see a nice straight Corrado. BTW, how did you get the inlet manifold so immaculate?

Diesel Junior replied to cheesy's topic in Members Gallery
Welcome back cheesy, thats a really nice straight original Corrado you have there. What sort of economy do you get according to the MFA, will be in UK this summer with a 16v on the shopping list and would be interested to know! Just done 1000km to Madrid and back and got 33 mpg with the cruise control set at 130kmh.....good luck with the car! -
Welcome to the forum mate, you will learn a lot from it, lets see some pics, always fancied a 16v as a daily car....

Coolant gasket advice needed to defeat the Stealer......

Crisis over. Turned out that the sensor in the expansion tank was filthy, a few squirts of degreasant and trip in the dishwasher equals no coolant light in the 500km to Madrid this morning! -
Hola C5, just found this http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201107379923541/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/corrado/make/volkswagen/page/3/radius/1500/postcode/ne23nn/quicksearch/true?logcode=p its been a while since you got yourself a VR6 you must be getting twitchy by now..........
-
OK, so i get onto the website on page one then? Coolant sensor sorted now (was covered in goo) so it's off to Madrid tomorrow for the classic car fest on Friday, bound to see some Corrados on the way up!

Facing a dirty Corrado with your cleaning gear, stuff of dreams! You still haven't told us where this magical land lies though......
-
I did wire brush/black and decker combo with WD40 sauce a couple of years ago. Recent coating of G12+ helped as well:bonk:
-
C5 your thread is legendary, i thought i had clean carpets till you came along you so and so:rolleyes: Where is this utopia where you keep finding Storms lying around? There are a few of us that would like to know!
-
Hi did you use the engine cleaner on the inlet manifold? Did you use a wire brush or anything like it, it really looks good and would be interested to know. Thanks, the DJ

Yeah its no problem, mine has done it for years, but its is a bit unnerving at first.......

Coolant gasket advice needed to defeat the Stealer......
Diesel Junior replied to Diesel Junior's topic in Engine Bay
OK folks some help please......started the Vr6 this morning and headed to the market 7km away and the coolant warning light was on all the time although the gauge behaved perfectly normally. During this time the car didnt lose a drop of G12 AFAIK, ok on return journey the light never came on, the gauge behaved normally and then the fan came on, everything stayed ok and i can see no leak anywhere. My mate (30 years a mechanic with his own Renault Clio team......) reckons its the sensor at the top of the expansion bottle has attracted some dirt and a clean should help. When we looked in the top hose yesterday there was some brown **** which may be some of the residue from the broken heat exchanger from December. Any advice would be great as i really want to go to Madrid on Thursday (1000km round trip) for the classic car show but dont have the faith in the car at the moment  -
Kinda wish my temperature warning light and the gauge permanently didnt work on mine......:bonk:

Coolant gasket advice needed to defeat the Stealer......
Diesel Junior replied to Diesel Junior's topic in Engine Bay
You really couldn't make this up but here we go......well the other bolt came out in the end thanks to a steady hand with a drill, fitted the new pipe, gasket, nuts and bolts and left it all running for over half an hour, fans came on and everything going like clockwork......well so i thought. On the drive home after a good 2 km the damned red light came on again. At the moment cannot tell if it has chucked all its fluid yet again as it is dark but it seems the (new) problem is not where we did the work as that area looked dry. Well will have a look at the coolant tank tomorrow and see what has gone wrong this time:bonk::bonk::bonk: -
Thats Farenheit i hope! Well after an hour today at 130kmh mine was at 105 Celsius, i will run off and try and work that out......welcome to the forum BTW!

Anyone bought one of these recently? I suppose there are radiators and radiators, euro car parts £175, gsf £120, http://www.corrado-teile.de/ which we all use over here have a VALEO at €180 are they any good? As per the nuts and bolts option (cheers goozie) i see no problem, as long as the damn thing is tight and the coolant stays in thats fine by me.......
