  1. Er cant answer the first one, as per the second just put febis on mine and the difference is noted! Rides smoother, bumo absorption better, all for £20 IIRC.....
  2. Best of luck mate and best wishes to your partner and her pal who were injured. Sounds like they will recover OK but so will you too. When i had a numpty ram me in Benidorm last year it gutted me so i understand your disappointment but chin up, accept no cr@p from the insurance people and then hit the classifieds section and get yourself AN EVEN BETTER ONE AND THEN COME ON THIS FORUM AND TELL US ALL ABOUT IT!! Tomorrow will be a better day, as said, chin up!
  3. OK thanks for that, as said this is a great thread but if you get 10 mins have a look at this one i got from the golk mk2 site it's brilliant.....http://www.vwgolfmk2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=4828
  4. Great blog Yandards, cant remember when i had a filthy VR6 in front of me (and dont get me wrong, i would rather have Catherine Zeta Jones in front of me......) but i would be rubbing my hangs if i were you. 1k for that? Bargainsville. One quick question.....what is that peeling on the wing mirror, i have the same problem, it looks like lacquer, can anything be done with it? Best of luck with the clean up, keep us informed!
  5. I love this thread, the results are coming thru after a ton of hard work, well done. OK, quick (and basic.....) question.....when you flushed thru the cooling system as shown in the picture on page 2 do i take it that you put the hose in the bottom pipe and then it came out of the header hose? Is the pressure from the hose strong enough to get the water around or can you run the engine at the same time to speed it on its way with the pump running? Sorry if this is a daft question but every day i learn a bit more! Presumably you could run the engine as the water jacket has a supply of water running around it.......
  6. For £120 you can! Not sure if the stealer can get them i got mine from a German website and silenced the swarm of angry bees under the bonnet!
  7. Poll you were after the exact same parts i was a month ago. Dishwasher did a so so job so i got one from ARZ in Germany for €30, also got a Valeo rad (VR6) for less than €200 and it fitted perfectly. And no, i dont work for them its just all the C fans here in Spain use them!
  8. This is a top thread, sorry about the crack pipe, but we have all had to do that one at some point! My only tip - off with the rear wiper!
  9. Audi TT mark 1 is your answer Choppa, should be a few around over there mate.....
  10. I have got useful stuff from Bad Boy Higgins he advertises on here and ebay, he is always breaking Corrados he should be able to help you
  11. Good point on the water pump, VW changed mine while i was in hospital so got no say in it and was unable to check forum either! They put an OE plastic one in which replaced an identical one that had lasted 16 years.....
  12. Couldn't agree more, great forum for a truly special car. At times i have wanted to attack mine with a wrench but when i drive it and look at the Euroboxes with 15 year warranties i know what is the better option....
  13. Jeeez Carrots you must have flattened a few black cats en route that is terrible luck. Keep your chin up mate, it will be worth it in the end.....
  14. This is going to be a thread worth watching, great pictures mate, keep em coming - and well done on saving a car others would have given up on!
  15. Blimey what a journey, i guess the devil is in the detail......whatever good luck getting it back as that is a smart C. BTW how much has it been lowered by? 40mm is my guess......Best of luck pal and hope to see this back on the road soon!
  16. Tough question! At the end of the day these cars are the thick end of 20 years old and in (esp) VR6 guise they are quite complex as well and not the easiest to work either. Mine has broken down once (water pump) in three years which i dont consider that bad but ANY car can or will break whether it be a G60 or a Mk 2, it all depends on how it has been looked after during its years. I went from an S2000 to a VR6 and hand on heart it was the best move i ever made, i cant imagine a more complete car but dont get me wrong a Mk 2 is pretty special as well. Its up to you mate, remember that these are not new cars with a 7 year Kia warranty but trawl thru this website and there are a LOT of satisfied Corrado owners out there!
  17. This is a top thread mate, keep up the good work! Would be very interested to know what polish you used, whether you used a polisher etc etc. Chains in one day? Respect!
  18. Couldn't agree more! I left mine empty and just swore at it Basil Fawlty style for about a week before one of the guys from the club here in Spain came and showed me the exact same mod. Its quite baffling how the easiest (in theory) part of this festival is actually the hardest......
  19. Good luck mate, i remember being totally daunted by this but ended up doing it (taking just over a day.......) and then sitting back and pondering what the dealer would have charged in labour for it. Dont be too surprised of the leak is tiny (something of a let down after the fun and games leading up to it......), label EVERYTHING and remember what someone told me once on this forum it's just a big Meccano set, oh and good luck with the glovebox, German uber-engineering at its finest!!! Let us know how it all goes!
  20. €29 here in Spain. Lovely and clear and half full of G12, money well spent methinks. Dealers, you cant beat them......
  21. I'll 2nd that Kip, you get what you pay for with mats and Autostyle are at the upper end but are far better than others i have had on other cars. The thicker and the heavier = the better is the rule of thumb although Ryanair didnt like carrying them to Alicante.....
  22. Gold mine is 'spot on', welcome to the forum and lets see some pics asap!!
  23. Sound advice, will bite the said bullet, thanks jon.
  24. Hi folks, maybe someone can point me in the right direction on this one......My VR6 needs a new rad and i want to avoid the stealers €375 charge for one! What is confusing me are the different sizes seemingly available and being here in Spain we dont have access to ECP, GSF etc etc. Now Valeo is a good make but offer two sizes, one at 675x317x33, and another at 620x302x36. I have it on good authority that the larger of these two will NOT fit, even tho Valeo bill it as for 'warm climates'. ARZ from Germany is one many of us use over here and they sell the smaller of these although to muddy the waters they put the blueprint of the larger one next to the description.....:bonk: Just as an aside ECP market their rad for a VR6 as L:630mm;W:310mm;H:34mm altho i dont know which make it is. One final thing, according to ARZ the VR6 (with A/C) rad is smaller than either the 16v or G60 when they have A/C too, strange...anyway sorry for all this rambling, just want to get it right and avoid the stealer! I am leaning to the ARZ one as have used them many times before and they know their onions.....
