Good luck with this nightmare job. IIRC on the Canadian Corrado forum there was an explanation of how to do this without taking the dash out. Lots of photos too....
-
Gosh that is s nice car. If only I could find one without a sunroof and with ac like my old one in Spain! !
-
Hi there, i have just stumbled onto this thread not having had a VR6 for 6 years (and yes i am counting the days.....). OK well when i lived in Spain my best pal Carlos was doing a 4WD conversion using Passat syncro 'gear'. He has been on this fine forum probably under the guise of Carlos 'Flare' or if not look up the Spainsh forum http://www.clubcorrado.com and the thread was called 'en que lio me he metido' (what a mess i have put myself into! By the way his English is absolutely perfect and while the thread is in Spanish the photos aren't! Hope this helps!!

£1350 that's a tidy sum now, even more so in 1996.....
-
This is interesting, on mine (which was LHD), on the left i had headlamps and panel rheostat and and then on the right i had the heated seat buttons, the air con (which was factory fit) was underneath the ventilation knob. That aftermarket air con would not have come cheap.....

I was thinking that. .... maybe part of alarm installation? ??
-
Thanks for that I'll bear that info in mind. Let me know when you're out and about would be great to meet up. Don't think you'll be able to match the raging bull that is 2007 318i......;) Keep going with the updates on your beautiful vr6 I'm following it closely from now on. Happy driving matt
-
Bliemy i thought my old one was a good 'un but this looks really nice. I will be following this thread from now on from here in Gosforth, where are you based Mystic? All the best, Matt

Wayne. Pretend you're me mate. ... you've sold your vr6 and you type in 'vr6 noise' in you tube to give yourself a fix. It's torture! !!
-
Wayne, we have all been there mate don't give up, i guarantee you will regret it. EVERYTHING can bet fixed, there are dozens on this forum who can help you, keep right on till the end of the road....

Great to see the forum being used overseas - welcome! For those parts you could do worse than drive south to Essen in a few weeks time ;)

Corrado Part Duex - 24V Aqua Blue - She's gone.

My pleasure! It's just great to see a fabulous car being brought back to rude health as you have done, especially in today's 'throw away' society!! Have a look at mine that I had in Spain it was just fabulous but sadly Dad got cancer and I had to come home. Having spent €2500 in the previous month I received a good offer from a Spanish club forum member and I suppose it meant sense. ... maybe. .... The thing is I've been lucky and have had some nice cars Golf Gti, Megane rs, Honda s2000 but the VR6 is the only car I would ever buy back. Quite simply it was just an experience to drive it, the noise the thing made, it's rarity etc etc I could go on. Good ones are few and far between now so that's why I follow your story and others too so keep up the good work. By the way a mate of mine on the Spanish forum has put a climatronic in his vr6 synchro............ -

One of the very best threads on this forum, well done Sean you can be very proud of what you have done here. The only thing is that it makes me realise why i will probably never have another Corrado as mechanical expertise that the likes of Sean have i never will (have) - keep up the good work! -
Great to see a car of this quality just 5 miles away. All the best mate would love to pop round and see it at some point, you've got a great base to start with and it'll be one of the best when finished. Haway the Heed :)

Thanks Ian, I guess I'll just have to keep hunting for one without a sunroof altho the odds are long. ....

Hi folks I was wondering if anyone could help me with this and apologies if this has been covered elsewhere on this excellent forum. This was my VR6 for 4 years when I lived in Spain -the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=42703&highlight=diesel+junior - a fabulous machine which was much loved in the Spanish Corrado forum (and is thankfully in the hands of an enthusiast who is converting it to a manual gearbox. I'd love another one as I miss this forum and the noise of the engine :) Thing is I would really like one WITHOUT a sunroof which seems about as likely as Newcastle making the Champions League. With a sunroof the headroom is reduced and I was wondering whether this problem is alleviated when the sunroof is replaced by a moonroof. Forgive my ignorance but the moonroof doesn't slide I presume (???) but would give an airier cabin. Anyway any advice would be great many thanks the dj

Dave...... Your corrado is beautiful mate. Just looking at the photos on the database, those bbs wheels really look the part well done. ... Matt

H DPS, have just stumbled onto this thread, not havving a Corrado (which is worse than having a damaged one!) these days mean fewer visits to this wonderful forum. I went thru exactly what you had to, oddly enough in an automatic VR6 as well altho i had tp deal with it in Spanish as well as i was living out there at the time. You might want to have a look at this http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=49461&highlight=Benidorm and then click on the 'Gallery' at the bottom of the thread to see how it came back! All's well that ends well, good luck!

Good luck gaz, my tip would be to direct you to the clasdifieds where the cars there will have been looked after by enthusiasts who would want their car to go to a fellow enthusiast. There is a vr6 there in west Yorkshire for £1950 which was very well looked after by its owner. Most importantly the heater matrix has been changed which saves you a ton of work or a pile of money. All the best and welcome to the club!
-
That looks absolutely terrific well done, really goes well with the red as well. Come to think of it have had to cast my mind to the last car I had with a glass roof, that'll be my old civic crx vtec :)
-
c5 that Golf is mint as we say here in geordie land well done. Tell me something, are the seats height adjustable? As much as I want my old vr6 back I may go to a mk2 golf, it's only a matter of time before their prices start to rise just like they did with the Mark 1 gti (and never will with the mk 3 or 4) and you could be on to an investment there. As great as the corrado is the classic car press seem slow to term it as 'one to keep an eye on. ...' which is a little odd. Good luck with the car mate and alsowith your health which, as we all know, is the most important of all. Regards matt

Just like my old one Sean, Keep up the good work the car looks beautiful. ..... just like my old one sob.... You're right about the t-stat tho, seen better days!
