Seen the new Golf GTI commercial? Link inside..
chrishill replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
I'll have a large slice of that please dinkus, with custard. Actually watching it again - have they not just combined the dancing from the c4 ad with the 'bringing back the dead' of that puma advert with steve mcqueen? :D -
Not anymore! I think the thing that made me think it was Mi5 is that fact my boss has M15 DWA on his car, and we took the p*ss for ages about his james bond aspirations...the good thing now is i get to call him 'Miss' :D

the UK one is superb! I guess VW had to do something to better the dancing C4-robot advert. -
ffs! how did i not spot that one? I always saw it as Mi5! you mean not only are you not a bloke, you're not a spy either?
-
manifold is bigger on the golf too henny! :D  I know you knew that but I got all excited when you forgot to mention it...

It was only after andi upgraded the forum to include the little gender icons that I realised M15 VW is female...

i just looked it mine and it only lists the stuff that needs to be done at 10k and 30k intervals, however what I did find (amongst the piles of paper in my 'car' folder) was a print out from the old CCGB site which says the head on a 16v will probably need a rebuild at 100k, and could also do with the valve seals replacing...hope that helps a bit!

if you have your original service manual it should say in there, i'd look at mine and tell you except i'm at work!
-
looks like it might be a whole bora front henny, cant quite see as the pics a bit dark on my monitor!

holy flaps! thats an impressive figure considering the modifications, unless the 'tweek' from your mate at ferarri was a f40 engine, in which case its poo ;) wonder if i'd get the same performance doing some of those things to my 1.8... no superchips for me though and I already have the 1.8 cams!

always feels good to get a compliment like that, i got my first of 2005 from a taxi driver who apparently used to be a used car dealer, he delighted in telling me 'ya cannit gan wrang with them like' and asking if the spoiler worked.
-
isnt that a bit (dare i say it) chav? whats next? little VW logos lit up with LED's for washer jets?
-
10 points to henny for using Kudo's in a everyday sentance ;)

it doesnt really 'blend' with the original lines of the car, which to me a good bodykit should. it looks like what it is, stuck on plastic bits.

I've seen a vx220 with a badgeless grille, makes quite a big difference to the front end not having that big chrome 'V' on it. De-badge the rear and i bet 50% of people would be none the wiser that its actually a vauxhall! by the power of google! bit pricey at £275 though! to me the vx220 has the edge over the early elise in terms of looks, and i would imagine build quality too. IIRC underneith they're pretty much the same car are they not?

joe you have pm!

I'm going to put some 6mm spacers on the rear wheels to get them sitting in the arches properly, but i'll need longer nuts (oh er). Popped in to hellfarts yesterday to be told they only stock nut specific to the alloys they sell. They asked what make mine were and looked clueless when I said 'borbets' and even more confused when i told them the nuts i'm using at the moment are standard VW ones. In the end they decided I'd need to have some custom made :? muppets. anyway to the point - wheres the best place to get some, and do they need to be a certain size/fitment?

my mk2 prietty much how i want it !!!! new pics 21/3/05

very nice! The more i see mk2's with the badgeless 2-light grilles the more i like them. I've got to agree with what everyone else is saying though, I'd change the wheels to something more Euro. Those would look nice on a mk4, but the mk2 needs something more classic. -
black/red look really nice mate, looks like a good finish on them both too! well done! Whichever set you dont keep, stick on ebay - they've got for a fortune in the past.
