well i questioned them about passive smoking, I was out at the weekend and in a bar full of smoke you never know whats floating about, in that case they said there probably wouldnt be enough in my system to fail the test, but as for the amsterdam thing I really dont know. i guess its still in your system (for up to 6 weeks so the nurse said) and they 'could' see that as an imparement to your job, pretty dodgy ground!

to be fair they tested for alcohol too, and have the same policys for that. I was angry for a minute or so but at the same time they do have to follow the rules, for all they know I could have been a smack addict! They did appologise and my manager is pushing for a full investigation into what happened. The HR woman was very very appologetic, but I was still reeling from the whole thing to take it in, i'm sure something will be said tomorrow.

jesus wept what a day. Just started a new job, been there 2 weeks and went for my medical this morning. Did all the usual vision/hearing stuff and a drugs test. The drugs test came back positive on one of the results, and I'd like to stress at this point that hand on heart I've not taken anything. Ok so test comes back positive, and the nurse shrugs it off saying that the same happend yesterday and they'd have to send it for futher testing, so i'm thinking, ok, must happen all the time. at 4.30 i'm dragged in to see HR with my boss, they give me the opportunity to admit to drug use and for me to resign there and then. Obviously at this point I'm seriously worried, i know i've not taken anything, i know the tests wrong but at the same time they're not going to take my word for it, so i request another test. over to the medical centre we go, i give them another sample and guess what? CLEAR! totally clean, clear and fine. I swear I was close to cracking after that, even though it came back ok all i could think about was how close I came to loosing everything, house, car and any chance of a decent job ever again. It's all sinking in still, i think I may have a few beers tonight to calm me down.

sounds tempting for £50, but it'd cost me double that to get to stealth and back! -
those Belgiumiseisations are awfully polite!

1.8 with a k&n pannel, drilled airbox and a custom downpipe-back exhaust system. Car was standard when i bought it and the mods have made things a little more responsive, before it felt like it was always being held back. saying that the original system was pretty goosed! not sure what the output is but its easily as quick as my mates mgtf 135 which is a good 12 years newer and lighter (i think?). I should really get it set up properly though since it pinks quite alot at haigh revs, probably just needs more fuel to compensate for the extra air-flow. anyone got a rough price for an engine tune-up? -
seems to be a few bargain mk2's about at the moment! nice find!

in sainsburys carpark today as i got out of my car the couple next to me were just coming back to their car. The bloke commented on not seeing many C's any more and said how he used to have one then looked forlornly at his 206 and said something like...now look what i've got! :D

not as bad as i thought then, better buy some bits!

I think my water pumps on its last legs, over the last few weeks its gone from total scilence, to the odd 'twitter' and finally to wailing like a banshee. I've looked up prices for a new pump of GSF and euro car part, both about £25, but I'll have to take it to a grage to get it fitted. any ideas how much labour i'd pay on something like this?

i was just thinking about the salty mess my cars going to be covered in (oh er!) once the snow clears :(

Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!

thats far too sexy for its own good! 8) -
You might find that if you sold it, buying a manual VR of the same spec/condition would cost you as much extra as converting what you already have.

i actually like that rather alot, someone pass me the spray-glue and hammerite...

henny did say he had some special plans for J-DUB, looks like we could be seeing some superb engineering in the near future!

No mechanical background here either but I did have a thought... TD's boost at low revs, but (IME) come off boost pretty quickly meaning you have a fairly narrow power band. Is that done intentionally because of the characteristics of a diesel engine? in other words are you going to run into problems running pretty much constant boost from a charger? as i said, no mech background so I could just be talking out my rear...

I remember them from GT2, I think I had a purple one that was, when fully tuned, undrivable :S I second Phil's sentiment, one day i will own a 911!
