  1. ok, i'll get the heatsheld checked out, not likely to be the cat....i dont have one! :D
  2. ok ok so it was a total novice's guess  yes its been lowered, but that was a few weeks ago and the problems just reared its head, the sound is coming from the area directly under where the ashtray/armrest is, it deffinatly sounds like something thats turning/spinning rather than knocking (which i would assume a loose heatsheild would sound like?). guess the only real way to know is to get it looked at
  3. try hi-performance in sunderland, they're right behind kwik-fit (make sure you go in the right one ;)) nice bunch of blokes, sorted out my tracking and camber not so long ago.
  4. I've just diven the 15 or so miles back from my parents house listening to a very worrying rattle which seems to be coming from under where the rear ashtay is (and yes its empty!) The only way i can discribe it is at low rev it sounds a bit like a pencil rolling over a table, but more metalic, at higher revs its like the worlds biggest angry bee trapped in a jar! Its not there all the time, it seems to come and go, but i can 'make' it happen by sticking the handbrake on and holding it on the bite. The car seems to drive fine still, but i cant help but think...thats where the driveshaft runs isnt it? (no you muppet!) just hope its not my C's death rattle..... :(
  5. thats impressive! i bet it gave him a bit of a shock  just goes to show the C can hold its own against the young guns
  6. done on a tight budget too! didnt do me any favours being tight with the suspension, its not the best around, but i think all in excluding buying it, its cost me around £1600! Actually thats a scary thought...I'll block that one out!
  7. i remember someone else having the same problem a while ago, the horn inadvertantly 'beeped' at passers by, and his wife/girlfriend was none too impressed with him thinking he was beeping at girls! anyway i'm pretty sure he found the fault, try a search for 'horn' (on the forum...deffinatly not on google! )
  8. cheers chaps, yep they're borbet c's check out the difference between when i got the car in august last year and what its like now....
  9. I finally washed it! Its been lowered 40mm, but the back seems a little higher than the front, i think thats due to the front top mounts needing to be replaced! anway...photos...

    Teledial alloys?

not keen on those, sorry! theres some much nicer porker wheels around if you're going to go to the hassle of making them fit.
  11. sounds like a plan h100vw, and sounds logical too since they stop rattling as the oil warms up (more viscous and flowing past the crap better?)
  12. Henny, any ideas on a price for that little lot? I've had the 'back to how it left the factory' idea in my head for a while but being mechanically inept I had no idea what would need to be done! .... a problem you just solved! Could do with the tappets/followers doing to, the rattle is starting to get on my t1ts!
  13. you can help it breathe a bit easier with a new exhaust and a panel-filter combined with drilling a few holes in the wing-side of the sirbox. Theres actually quite a few mods you can do, flusted on here's got his up to about 160bhp by changing cams and various other things, but TBH i agree with VR6, if you're hankering after power, save the pannys for a VR, thats the decision i've (finally) come to! - edit - as far as i know the order you do the exhaust/filter doesnt matter, but you'll get the best results from the two combined.
  14. exactly the reason being over confident isnt a good thing. Personally i always play it safe if someone else is in the car and say things like 'not sure on this one, could be close' or 'got no chance here!' that way if i get stuffed i dont look like a twonk, and if i win its even more of a victory becuase i set myself up as the underdog! obviously if its a corsa none of the above applies and I openly laugh at them even trying
  15. I've just been looking at the new mk5 GTI on the VW site and it could look 'so' much better with a few touches from the VW scene, although I cant seem to find any photos of any mk5's that have been fettled! anyone got any?
  16. what month was the corrado launched? if its not going to start in january then there has to be a better reason than 'we couldnt get the pictures in time' base it on a corrado year!
  17. this birds quite fat, nice legs though
  18. I think this guys modding stills extend as far as 'slap a sticker on it' I remember a corsa that was getting its exhaust done in the same place i got mine, the kid has asked for it to be 'as loud as possible' and bu&&er me it was loud! this post reminded me of the fact that he'd removed the backs of his dials so you could see through to the internals which looked quite funky.....except he'd not marked up the speedo so would have no way of knowing how fast he was going!
  19. I 'think' the lifters that go either side will fit into the holes that are already there, TBH thats a half remembered fact from a long lost post, so dont take it as gospel!
  20. I've got a single INXX fitted to mine, theres pics on this old thread http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9266&highlight=lifter really fiddly to fit, and be VERY careful drilling the holes in the bonnet, i've got a little dimple in mine now where i was a bit....enthusiastic :( You can get a par of lifters that go either side of the engine bay, IIRC they're intended for a mk2 golf but fit the C, chrisVR6NOS had some fitted to his.
  21. just in case theres any doubt, corsa's are made by VAUXHALL
