  1. I've got one. Removed from my 8V last year when I TDi'd it. It's identical to the 16V one so will bolt straight on, although it'd be worth putting new axle bushes in and maybe giving it a clean. If you're in Wales then you'd need to travel to pick it up so its yours for beer money if you want it - I have no use for it. Cheers Tom
  2. Wouldn't be wanting a lot for it - £25 for the lot would do me. I know they're worth more than that but it'd be nice to have it out of the way to be totally honest. To be honest I'm sure there are ways of transporting it via courier safely but its a big old thing so it'd be easier for me if you were to collect it. I could arrange to meet you somewhere but it'd have to be worth my while in terms of fuel costs and time etc. I'll get some pics anyway :)
  3. Yeah I'll try to get a couple of pictures this afternoon for you. It's currently still in the car but I'm hoping to convert it to a moonroof (which I already have) so this has come at a good time really. Nothing wrong with the mechanism or the panel, I just like having a glass roof above my head :) So yeah, it works fine. Bizarrely every Corrado I've owned has had a fully working sunroof lol.
  4. I have a pretty reasonable condition Aqua Blue sunroof. Do you mean the entire mechanism or just the sunroof panel itself? Cheers Tom
  5. Hi, I put my name down a couple of months for Stanford Hall this year, thinking that I'd be taking the TDi. Then plans changed and I put it up for sale, not expecting it to go as quickly as it has done. The VR6 isn't in any state to be driven anywhere so as a result I have a Club Display pass for the CCGB stand on Sunday - would anyone like it? I don't think your car has to be show standard to go on the stand (none of mine ever were) so the first person who wants it can have it. I'll post it to you first class today (if you get your address to me by 4.30pm) so you should have it for tomorrow/friday at the latest. Cheers Tom
  6. If you were planning on keeping the car for a while then I would just repair it and carry on. It's not going to cost you £1400 to get it back to a decent condition (even if you can't get panels in the right colour and you have to get it painted) and to be honest the cars are so cheap that it being declared Cat C won't make massive difference to the value. I think you could end up with it back on the road for not a huge amount of money (assuming its all straight etc) and have a bit of change left over to carry out some more modifications etc :)
  7. Yeah, generally it's like that with insurance companies, I can see why you did that :) If the damage is as it appears in your avatar then I'd be repairing it and using it. Has the assessor said what it'll be categorised as? I imagine Cat 'C' based on the damage.
  8. To be honest £1700 sounds like a pretty good valuation, especially if you're able to keep the salvage for £300.
  9. Deposit taken. Bittersweet feelings really, I'm going to miss it quite a lot but I *may* just build another one in the near future. We'll see. The new owner seems really nice and has promised he's going to look after it so I can't ask for more than that really :)
  10. I'm going to give a set of powdercoated 288mm carriers with the car when it goes. Reason I'm changing them is because I went a bit cheap on the front discs when I did the build and managed to warp them when coming rather quickly down a steep hill near to where I live - I felt them go and was pretty gutted! I've got a set of genuine 312 discs to go on so thought I may as well upgrade. If someone wants to fit 15's then all they'll need to do is buy a set of mk3 288mm discs and jobs a good'un.
  11. The mileage on the shell is now in the region of 190k, I took it off the road in October and its been pampered in my garage since then so hasn't been subjected to the ravages of another winter :) Everything is indeed running as it should. I went to major effort to ensure things were all good as I planned on keeping the car indefinitely, but if I'm honest I did suspect that I would feel like this after a year or so, i.e wanting something else to do! I tend to do this - build cars, spend a fortune and then sell them about a year later :-) As I said, a lot of the pleasure for me is in the building. Insurance wise - I'm with Brentacre and the insurance was almost the same as my previous daily - a 1.9TDi Ibiza. They quoted on the engine and then added a bit more on because of the Corrado. It's actually cheaper to insure than it was when it was an 8V - unbelievable but it's true. Obviously the normal companies probably wouldn't touch it because it's modified, but any specialist company will sort it for you. On the motorway it averages about 55-60mpg at 70mph so makes an ideal commuter. I put quite a lot of effort into the ABS upgrade and comfort aspects of the car (cruise, bluetooth handsfree stereo with iPod control etc, TT wipers, built-in uprated headlamp loom etc) so it's a pretty safe motorway cruiser. I should also mention that I'm going to put 12 months MOT on it, fit 312mm brakes and Jay's uprated poly engine mounts too. It'll also have 6 months tax so will be ready to go with literally no expenditure for 6 months (other than regular oil changes if you're using it a lot, I do changes every 2500 miles). Oh, forgot to mention, it's properly registered as an 1896cc Diesel car on the logbook so no issues should you need to produce/make an insurance claim etc. Tax is unaffected because its pre-2001 so is done on engine size. Hope that helps. Tom
  12. Just a bit of advance notice that I'm putting the TDi up for sale this coming week. Only because I fancy a bit of a change and for me the pleasure is in building the car, not so much in just using it. It makes a fantastic, distinctive, economical daily driver (55-60mpg all day long) and literally needs for nothing. Fully rebuilt and ready to go, as you can see from the build thread. There'll be two options - either as it stands now with the fully refurbed 16" BBS RC's and heated black leather interior at one price (£4250), or with 16" Audi TT wheels and a mint condition cloth interior at a considerably lower price (£3250) Need to get some pictures of both wheel combinations and I've also got a set of Jay's poly engine mounts to fit, doing that this week and then it'll be ready to go :-) Thought I'd give you guys a bit of a heads-up in case anyone's interested before it goes on Pistonheads/the other forums etc. Cheers Tom

    Yeah of course - PM'd
  14. Hi, I listed a few parts on eBay on Sunday, feel free to have a look and a bid if you want them :) (split over 2 eBay accounts, turns out you can only list 10 items at a time on new accounts!) http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/vagbreak/m.html?item=180863390309&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649&_trksid=p4340.l2562 http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/purple_tom/m.html?hash=item43aeff979b&item=290698794907&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&_trksid=p4340.l2562 Cheers Tom

    Abs rear sensor vr6

Yeah, it came from a 1995 car so it will definitely fit. Cheers Tom

    Abs rear sensor vr6

Yep, this was a Febi one that I'd fitted exactly as dragon green describes....plenty of copper grease and I made sure the hole in the stub axle was nice and clean before fitting it. Came out a treat about a month later...here it is anyway: £25 posted and its yours!

    Abs rear sensor vr6

If you're after a rear VR6 sensor then I have a very good condition almost new one that I removed from a VR6 that I broke a little while back. It's in good working order and I don't want much for it. I'll get a pic shortly...
  18. Welcome to the forum. I'm just about the starting building another TDi with the specific intention of selling it afterwards (I need something to do lol!). Will be almost the same spec as the one in my signature but with a few little refinements. If you're interested in buying a running TDi then drop me a PM. Cheers Tom
  19. Yeah, for some reason after I'd put that you were OK I re-read your original thread and decided it wasn't a very sensible thing to put! I think what I meant was that at least you've recovered, although I imagine the hernia was decidedly unpleasant :( Bad news about the mk2, but if the engine is still going after surviving 2 fairly major accidents then all good!
  20. That is a bugger :-( Still, at least you were ok and parts of the car now live on! The mk2 looks good by the way :) I've no idea about the occupants of the CRV, I hope so.
  21. Ouch, whereabouts did you crash if you don't mind me asking? I've got some interesting video of a mate in his mk3 GTi losing it just after Brunnchen, he miraculously manages to avoid hitting any armco (more by luck than driving skill!) but that particular corner is nasty as its off camber, a blind crest and perpetually in shadow and therefore suffers with a lack of grip from both damp and sap from the overhanging trees. I've done about 50 or so laps now, both in the Corrado and previously in my Vauxhall-engined Mini. It certainly is a place that you need to respect as it almost exclusively takes no prisoners! Btw, this video has just appeared on youtube..watch from about a minute onwards....nasty stuff!
  22. Hi Jon, Pic attached. If I'm honest the camera has made them look a bit worse than they are, was in a bit of a rush so just plonked them on my engine cover to get the pic. They're in reasonable condition, might benefit from a bit of a feed, let me know if you're interested: Tom
  23. Looks great mate, you must be very chuffed with the result :)
