Pete - pictures PM'd to you... Started breaking the car today, there's still loads left so if there's anything you need that isn't engine related then let me know! Cheers Tom -
Hi Dave, I have all of those parts, just in the process of breaking a 94 VR6 as we speak. How does £15 posted for the lot sound? I'll put plenty of trim and door card screws in too :-)
-
Yes it is, you need to remove the timing chain top cover in order to remove the sprockets from the cams but it does not require removal of the gearbox. Unless you're doing the chains/tensioners at the same time of course!

Yeah no problem, I'll be able to get some tomorrow morning for you! They might still be on the car but they'll be visible.... I'm sure you'd be able to press them out with a suitable mandrel without damaging them, they're not in very tightly at all tbh. Cheers Tm -

Yeah I would but it would have to be good money as they'd need to be palleted up and a courier organised which would be a major inconvenience to be honest at the moment as I have little or no time during the week! By rad cradle do you mean the radiator support panel? Cheers Tom -

VR6Pete - wishbones are very good and they also have genuine R32 bushes installed, probably done about 5k. £50 posted for the pair mate. JayGT - read the first post, all engine components are sold, which includes the ECU. Plus, this is an OBD2 coilpack ECU and I believe you're looking for an OBD1 distributor ECU! BILLCOR - heater controls, will remove asap and check condition, they do function but unsure if they're all intact - I'll get back to you asap. Cheers Tom -

PM'd :-) -
Hi, It's about time I took the plunge and got on with breaking my VR6. I bought it back in February this year with full intention of carrying out the necessary work to get it back to it's former glory. However, for me times have changed and I just don't have the time for a full-on project at the moment. I'd love to put it in the garage and forget about for a year or two but finances won't allow and as sad as it is I know I'll get more for it by breaking it than by selling it with the work required. Before I begin let me just say that my new job is pretty hectic. I'm in an intensive 20 week training period at the moment which means lots of revision and study after work, so I'm NOT going to be able to post things out at the drop of a hat. I'm really going to try to keep on top of things and I have broken a Corrado before so I'm aware of how to do it properly. My plan is to try to get a 'mailshot' out a couple of times a week, or at the very least on a Saturday morning when I can definitely get to the post office. If parts are required urgently then I'll do my best to get them out sooner but I can't make any promises. So....the car is a 1994 OBD2 VR6 in Aqua Blue LC5U. ALL engine components are reserved for a friend who will shortly be putting the running gear into his Valver. This includes the engine itself, gearbox, driveshafts, loom, cooling system, downpipes, cat, clocks etc. EVERYTHING ELSE is available except for the heated leather interior which has already gone. Here's a picture of the car as it stood when I bought it: You can also see the build thread in my signature...click for a look through. I'll try to list what's available with prices but of course there'll be things that I forget about. All parts are quoted INCLUDING postage unless they're too big to post in which case it'll be collection from DE56 2JQ Derbyshire please. I've tried to be reasonable with the prices as I'd rather the parts went to someone who wants them for a good price rather than hang around in my garage for years. Payment via Paypal as a gift is preferred, or alternatively cash on collection. - Aqua Blue N/S door - £20 - collection only - Aqua Blue Tailgate - £10 - collection only - Aqua Blue Sunroof Panel - £30 posted - Aqua Blue Spoiler - £10 - collection only - N/S headlight - excellent condition - £50 posted - N/S foglight - perfect uncracked condition (not the one pictured) - £60 posted - O/S foglight - slight crack - £40 posted - Rear lights - £25 posted for the lot - Scorpion Stainless Steel Exhaust system, twin box in great condition - £110 collected - BBS RC 16x7.5" wheels, fully refurbed a year ago - PERFECT condition with 4 good tyres - £700 (pictures to follow) - 50mm front splitter - very good condition - £40 collection only That's just a small list of what's available. I'm going to start getting the car to bits on Saturday so I'll get some pictures of things then. Obviously there's LOADS that I haven't included, so if there's anything you need that I haven't listed then please get in touch. The car does have some very new suspension on it but I haven't quite deciphered what's been fitted by the previous owner - a combination of lowered springs and different shocks so until I get it off I won't quite know what it is! Bear in mind what I've said about postage, but I really do try to be as quick as possible, it's just the physical limitations of getting to the post office, bearing in mind I don't want to mess up my training! Also, please don't ask about any engine components as they're already reserved ;-) Thanks! Tom

I've got a couple of servos and master cylinders lying around. You can have them for the price of postage if you like - or if you're willing to make the journey to DE56 2JQ then you can have them for nothing as I'm never going to use them! Cheers Tom

No, I can't remember the VR6 number off the top of my head but it should start with a 1H0 code as the Corrado VR6 uses Mk3 Golf wheel bearings (mk3 Golf VW code is 1H) I'll try to get the right number for you....bear with me ---------- Post added at 9:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:06 PM ---------- Yep - 4 stud wheel bearings are 357498625B 5 stud wheel bearings are 1H0498625 Hope that helps...
-
Seems strange....the genuine VW wheel bearing kits for VR6's that I've used have all had multihex hub nuts in them - I was under the impression that only the 4-stud cars use the single hex nut. Mk4 Golfs (5 stud) all use the multihex nut and I know the mk3 GTi and VR6 (5 stud) all do too, might be worth having a word with VW about that as its possible they've given you the wrong bearing...maybe?
-
Nope, 330D's going right up to 2007 had them fitted, although they're the later sized 32mm ones which BMW revised so the screws didn't fall out quite so easily. Still pretty paranoid about mine so I've ordered the blanking plugs anyway.
-
30mm multihex socket is what's needed Paul...

Thanks for the replies :-) As said, its a heavy car so while it boasts better power and torque figures than a VR, its probably carrying an extra 300 (ish) kg which makes up for the slight drop in performance when you factor in it being RWD and the associated slight transmission losses over the increase in traction. KADVR6 - I'm already looking at remaps but I've got a little bit to do on the drivetrain before I go any further. The giubo (common problem on the 330d) needs replacing and it's still on its original clutch and DMF so not sure how much life is left in that. I don't want to immediately go for more power without looking at other weak areas first. I'm also afraid to say that it does have swirl flaps although they're not quite as prone as the 320D - I'm going to remove them anyway and sort out the breather and EGR valve, inlet etc. PeteL - Yeah, the TDI C has gone to it's new home down in Aylesbury - being used daily now and the new owner seems to be really enjoying it so job's a good'un :)

Hey, As I no longer have a Corrado that's on the road I thought I'd write a quick thread about my new daily....some of you might appreciate it, some of you probably won't ;-) After finishing the Corrado TDi build I thought I'd got exactly what I wanted - a frugal car that fulfilled my wishes in terms of looks, practicality etc. And I had. However, I took it off the road last October and got myself a project mk4 Golf TDi as a daily driver. Once the Golf was on the road I really enjoyed it - economical, practical, refined, comfortable and generally needing absolutely no work at all over the winter period. It did what I asked of it without fuss and I quite enjoyed not having to fiddle with it to be honest. As spring approached I started to think about the modifications I wanted to do to the Corrado in terms of power. Turbos, remaps and injectors started swimming through my mind as I pondered on what to do. I took on another couple of small projects in February/March and the time to put the Corrado TDi back on the road fast approached. It sort of struck me that I didn't really WANT to do any work on it....I'd spent the last few years working on cars, rebuilding them, taking them apart, breaking them, fixing them, using them, fixing them, rebuilding them etc etc and I was getting a little fed up of it. When the offer of a new job (and career) came up I grabbed at it with both hands - the only thing being a fairly intensive 5 month training period with lots of extra curricular activity required. That sort of sealed the deal for me really, I didn't want to be spending time modifying the Corrado and dealing with the inevitable teething problems that almost always arise when modifications for power are carried out when I had other things to be concentrating on. I pondered on keeping the Golf and putting the Corrado in the garage for a year, but the new job offer came after a four year wait (and lots of interviews/tests to pass) so I decided to reward myself....with this: It's a 2004 330Cd (6 cylinder, turbo diesel, 204bhp 300lb/ft) and I got it for a very good price :-) I've wanted one, in that colour and spec, for quite a while, ever since I got the chance to drive one at work a couple of years ago. I love the refinement, the economy and that little shove in the back when you boot it. It's not as quick as a Corrado VR6, and it's not as involving to drive, but for the time being it suits my needs perfectly. I think I'll keep it for a couple of years, by which time I'll hopefully be earning enough in my new job to afford a practical daily driver AND a decent Corrado. It'll probably be a VR6 too ;-) Cheers Tom

Just to jump in, I'm pretty certain that the injector harness is OBD2 specific too. The throttle body connections are definitely part of the same harness and do go through the large twist multiplug next to the auxilliary water pump. OBD1 cars have the ISV and TPS on the injector loom, whereas the OBD2 loom has the TPS and idle control stepper motor plug combined together as one large(ish) multiplug that goes onto the throttle body itself. It's been a couple of years since I did an OBD2 conversion so I'm not 100% sure on that, but to be honest I'm 99% sure so I think it'd be worth looking into getting the injector/TB/temperature sensor harness too. Cheers Tom

I've got several pairs in good used condition, all pistons fully in and bleed nipples free. £50 posted for a pair if you want them. Cheers Tom
-
I've got one that I've just taken out of a VR6. Very very good condition (no bolster sagging etc), complete with heated loom, switch and doorcards. Looking for £600 for it.
-
No worries mate. They're currently holding my VR6 off the ground but once I've got the VR in the garage I'll get some decent pictures of the wheels and I'll make a proper advert.

Depends on how much you're willing to pay for them. Just had a PM from another member so here's what I said to him: They're fully refurbed with literally no marks/scuffs/kerbing/damage of any sort. 4 very good 215/40x16 tyres (Hankook Ventus V12 Evo). Fully polished centre cap nuts and covers and completely unmarked BBS chrome centre caps. There's quite a lot of money in them for me and they're fully balanced and ready to fit. As close as you'll ever get to a brand new set to be honest. Size is 7.5 x 16, ET35. I want £650 for them. Cheers Tom

No regrets at all. I had loads of fun building it last year, bringing it up to scratch mechanically and finding lots of things out in the process. I also had loads of fun using it last summer, going to a few shows and getting lots of unexpected compliments on the build. I think the only thing I could have done is chased more power as that was always the plan, but its ready for it should the new owner decide to modify it further. If not I'll do it when I buy it back ;)

Just thought I'd put a quick update to this thread :) The new owner, a chap called Simon from Aylesbury, picked it up last Friday morning. He spotted it on Pistonheads when I put a thread up about it a few weeks ago. At the time he contemplated building something similar himself but then when he noticed on here that it was for sale he decided to buy it instead. A deal was agreed for the car in 'basic' trim - that is, a cloth interior and Audi TT 16" wheels. So I spent a couple of hours removing the leather interior and swapping the RC's for the TT's. (That means the leather interior and BBS RC's are both up for grabs soon). I also fitted the 312mm discs that I had lying around and gave it a good check over. Before he collected it I gave it a quick clean as it'd been in the garage all winter, then took it for one last drive and a few pictures. As arranged, Simon arrived at my local train station on Friday morning - half an hour or so of chatting and 'familiarisation' (he'd never really been near a Corrado before) and he set off for Alyesbury. I got a text a couple of hours later to say he'd arrived safely and really liked the car - can't ask for more than that really :-) As is my custom, I said that if he ever came to sell it I'd like first refusal - it's a tradition of mine to buy back cars that I've previously owned ;-) Anyway, goodbye TDi, enjoy:

Do you mean the chrome centres with the white 'BBS' logo? I bought a set brand new for my RC's last year from Germany. They cost about £70 posted but were worth it. I'll see if I can find the seller...bear with me.... ---------- Post added at 7:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:12 PM ---------- Found them - if these are the ones you're thinking of. The price has gone up slightly but he's a genuine seller, think they arrived within 3 days of ordering them. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BBS-Felgendeckel-Embleme-center-caps-weis-chrom-80mm-09-24-410-/400295344785?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item5d33763a91#ht_3065wt_975

I've got a drivers side front wing in either Aqua Blue or Flash Red, depending on your preferences. Could post but it'd have to be via courier. I also have a pair of very good condition late headlamps but I'd be looking at good money for those tbh. How does £125 posted for the lot sound?

I've got a wiper motor and linkage. In good working condition, came off a 1995 VR6 that had done about 117k so not mega low mileage but certainly not huge either. £30 posted if you want it. ---------- Post added at 9:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:32 PM ---------- Oh, I also have the dashboard undertrays too. In black, all in very good condition including the fusebox cover and fusebox cover clips. If you want the whole lot (including wiper linkage), I'll do it for £80 posted. Cheers Tom
