It should be back from being powdercoated in the next couple of weeks or so. Once it's back I'll get in touch and if you still need it we'll go from there. Cheers Tom -

2.0 16V (9A) Engine, Gearbox, Loom, Ancillaries etc
Purple Tom replied to Purple Tom's topic in Parts for Sale
Andy, I still have no internet at home, it's been 11 days without it working now, really busy with work too so don't have much free time but I've popped to my parents to borrow theirs. If you're interested in the engine/box then I'm open to offers on the £150, I'd rather see it taken away by someone rather than sitting in the garage taking up space. Cheers Tom -
Sorry for the delay in replying, I have no internet at home so keep having to borrow it when I'm at my parents house. These sold to G-Lad yesterday, sorry!

Live and learn I think mate. I never drive any of my cars into spaces forwards because of the possibility of damaging the front bumper in exactly the way you have, it doesn't take much to creep forwards and before you know it, crunch. As VR6 has said, the potholes don't look too deep, but really in my opinion if you drive a lowered car (or even a standard car with a low front end) then its the drivers responsibility to ensure parts of the car don't make contact with the ground/kerb/street furniture. Thousands of cars have probably parked there with no issues, and I imagine the potholes have been caused by constant dry steering as people manouvre their cars in the bays, combined with frost damage/rain etc. Sorry to say that, I'm not criticising your driving either, just saying what I think. Cheers Tom

Corrado front end makeover with Custom 2012 Porsche Panamera front end

Anything is possible with time, effort, skill and money! Personally I don't think the Corrado needs touching, but whatever you want to do is up to you. -

I'd do the drivers handle for slightly cheaper as I think it's the same age as the car. Again, it has a Daves16V repair piece fitted so I'd do that for £45 posted matey. Cheers Tom -

If no one has said they'll have this then I'll have it at £220 delivered if you'd be willing to do it for that? Thanks Tom -
Hi, After doing the VR6 and widetrack conversion on LaserMarks 16V I'm left with loads of bits lying around. Daves16V used to own the car before Mark, and Dave carried out a 5-stud conversion on the vehicle which took him quite a lot of time and effort. The results are here As the car is now widetrack, with VR6 running gear, the original 5-stud conversion is surplus to requirements. What it consists of is basically a narrowtrack bearing carrier fitted with a 5-stud drive flange. All you need to do is unbolt your existing components and bolt these on. You'll need a set of VR6 CV joints to fit on the end of the narrowtrack driveshafts which will come with the kit, along with decent condition CV boots. They come with ball joints, decent wheel bearings and nearly new ABS sensors so it should be literally plug and play. The bearing carriers are even bolted to a pair of decent condition shock absorbers which might come in handy for someone. The only thing you'll need to do to run decent 5-stud wheels on your car is fit VR6 rear discs and job's a good'un :) Here's a picture I took earlier tonight: I'm looking at £130 collected or £150 posted for the complete set-up. If you collect then you'll get the bonus of the decent shock absorbers but if you opt for posted I'll unbolt them because they're just too bulky to post that way. Collection from Derbyshire DE56 2JQ please. Also, if you haven't already you might consider fitting bigger brakes to your 16V/8V, or renewing the ones on your G60. Offered as a seperate item or included in the sale of the front set-up is this complete set of 280mm front discs, carriers and calipers. They were powdercoated and fully rebuilt with new seals and pistons in 2010 and have covered roughly 2500 miles since then. I believe LaserMark has a full set of braided hoses to match these brakes if you're interested too - you'll have to ask him. Anyway, the discs are as new and are obviously 5-stud items. The calipers and carriers are powdercoated in a nice silver colour and I've given them a very quick clean up. With a bit more time they'd come up like new but I just wanted to get a quick picture of them tonight  They come complete with the anti-rattle shims, as new sliders and seals and I can even throw in the pads that were fitted too - there's hardly any wear on them at all. The front discs are actually what you need in order to run the 5-stud conversion as they're 1993 Passat VR6 items. Looking for £100 collected or £115 posted for the brakes, or if you decide to have them with the front hub set up then I can do the lot for £210 collected (that's a saving of £20!) or £250 posted (saving £15!). If I'm honest I'd MUCH prefer someone to come and collect them. Will save me a lot of time that I don't have much of at the moment packing them up and taking to the post office etc. Thanks, any questions feel free to ask! Cheers Tom

2.0 16V (9A) Engine, Gearbox, Loom, Ancillaries etc

Thumper - sorry for the slow reply, the ECU is a pre-immobiliser unit yeah, so should be plug and play! How does £50 posted sound? Tom -

Rod - still haven't been able to get that picture but for the time being I'm going to keep the stainless prop, it might come in handy for the future. I've got plenty of standard ones if you want one though. Wazza - no worries, I'll let you know asap. 3CM - I'm afraid the boot lifters have gone, as has that plug and associated wiring. Sorry dude. Tom -
Just tried that - No joy!

Ok, its in perfect condition so ideal for a splice job. No missing connectors or links etc. How does £40 posted sound? Tom -
Hi, Myself and Laser Mark have just finished doing a VR6 conversion on his 16V. As a result pretty much ALL of the 16V engine related components are now sat in my garage doing nothing. They were all removed in good working order and would really be better off bolted to someones car doing what they were intended to do rather than sat in a box in the garage. The engine and gearbox have covered just over 150,000 miles. Although I hadn't driven the car for more than a few yards before the conversion, I've been assured by Mark that everything is good. The engine doesn't use any oil or water (as expected), the gearbox is smooth with no crunches or whines etc. The engine has a powdercoated rocker cover and looks good. It really needs to be put into a car :) The inlet/injection system was removed complete and is also in good working order. Mark said that it was running slightly rough when he brought it over to mine before the conversion, but it had been stood for a few weeks prior to that and was probably running on stale fuel too. I'm not 100% familiar with 16V components but everything is available - airbox, metering head, injector pipes, etc etc. The inlet manifold was powdercoated by Mark a couple of years ago and looks fantastic. it's also available, along with a good working throttle body. The loom was removed intact and I plan on rewrapping it in rayon cloth loom tape before letting it go but if anyone wants it beforehand then let me know. Here's some pictures.... Inlet: ECU: Engine/Box: Cheers Tom

I better bump these up, perhaps think about advertising them elsewhere too  I'm open to reasonable offers - they do suit the Corrado rather well...

Hi forum bosses, Just a little problem with my account - it's showing '1 unread message' at the top of the main page when I hover over the notifications bar. I've tried logging out and back in, I've been through my inbox to ensure there's nothing there that I haven't read and it's been like it for about 6 weeks or so now. Is there anything that can be done or shall I just ignore it and pretend its like a Corrado where it has its own little nuances and foibles? Cheers :) Tom

Its worth remembering though that as long as you have 288mm brakes or smaller then most 15" wheels will fit, including 5x100 VW steelies. Also, as long as you go for the right tyre size, which on a Corrado would be 205/50x15 then it will be no lower on 15's than it would on 17's. Good luck with the search though :)

Lots of questions and not much reply from me - sorry, I've been away for a few days! I'll answer them in chronological order :-) V33DUB (Jon) - the underneath part is in good, but not perfect condition. However I repaired it by fitting one of Daves16V tunnel repair kits which solves the problem entirely (those stupid plastic clips that hold it in place breaking). If you're still interested in that section and the tunnel repair kit then let me know. Jim - thanks for the good feedback, it's appreciated :-) Rod - I've still got the stainless bonnet prop, I'll get a picture of it for you this afternoon. Wazza - the passenger front wing is technically sold, the buyer has paid and said he would collect last month. He still hasn't been to collect it so I'll need to chase him up. If it turns out he doesn't want it then I'll get back to you. vwgti - the sunroof mech and ABS pump have sold. I still have the ABS ECU which is in good working order (no fault codes, working correctly) £30 posted for that. Do you mean the internal A-pillar trim? Jon94VR - The headlight switch is indeed late spec. However, without meaning to shoot myself in the foot, have you seen Matt8V (I think thats his username) and the switches he had made in china? I bought one for the TDi and it was very good quality for a good price - might be worth seeing if one of those is available brand new first before buying a used one? Mine is in good condition though and if you wanted it I'd do it for £22 posted. Dingo - I have loads of 288mm carriers and calipers. I can do either untouched ones as removed from the car at £55 posted, or fully powdercoated rebuilt units with new seals for £115 posted. If it's 280mm carriers and calipers that you're after then I have those too, £40 posted for the untouched ones. I do have a set of recently powdercoated and low milage 280mm carriers and calipers in silver if you want those - could do them for £75 posted. Let me know. hazzamondo - I do indeed have the cover that goes over the number plate lights, complete with the light units and wiring. I've got a good condition Aqua Blue one and a good condition Twilight Violet one. I also have the four fixings that secure the handbrake/tunnel cover. Would do the number plate light unit and cover along with the fixings for £22 posted. R8ju_c - In the interests of fairness I won't PM you about the headlight switch. Please see my comments to Jon94VR above. Timbo - interior sold ages ago. Mathaus - I do have a subframe but its off being powdercoated at the moment and will be fitted to another Corrado in the near future. I will then have the one that came off that car but not for a while I'm afraid, maybe 6 weeks or so. Any more questions then feel free to ask, I should be around more often to answer them now! ---------- Post added at 11:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:53 AM ---------- Billcor - you asked while I was replying to the other questions. The passenger door handle (I presume you mean exterior) is available. Its got a Daves16V repair piece fitted in it and the microswitches are all in full working order. I think the handle itself was replaced at some point in the cars history as it doesn't look as old as the car was. £55 posted for it. -
How does £45 posted sound? Postage likely to be about £15 due to the weight....

Bad news. Have got a very new 2.0 16V cat and decent lambda taken from a 2.0 16V that I've just done a VR6 conversion on if you're interested?

V33DUB - there are two sections, the underneath part (which is only visible at the back where the ashtray etc is) and the upper visible part - which bit do you need? Jim - spoiler mech is on it's way to you, hopefully it should land soon! :-)
