I am looking for a throttle cable in reasonable condition from a G60 or does anybody know whether a cable for a VR6 or other model would fit? The part number on my cable is 536 721 555 & the same number seems to used for other models sometimes with an A at the end. Any help would be much appreciated.

The blue temp sender can fail when it gets a few years old sending the emissions high with overfuelling a hot engine. Worth a check if you havent already.

Fitted new Febi hydro mounts & gearbox mount + new oe centre exhaust box & exhaust hangers today to my 92 G60. Got rid of a vibration at tickover & 3000 rpm that it had since the rear hydro mount was replaced a couple of years ago with a solid rubber one. How much nicer it is especially at motorway speeds -- 70mph = approx 3000 rpm, no more double vision in the rear view mirror. RESULT

I have a set of G60 clocks from a 92 G60 that you can have for zilch if their any good to you. The speedo & tacho dont work but the temp & fuel gauge work ok from what I can remember. I live in Bournemouth near Meyrick Park. Let me know if your interested & I'll pm you with my address.

That is a very fair price for a brand new genuine VW part, I'm over the moon, didnt think there would be any around in good condition let alone new. I will buy it please, I will message you details etc. Many thanks Mick.

Looking for a G60 exhaust box, the big old suitcase sized one in reasonable condition. Desperately trying to keep my G60 as OEM as possible.

These are available on VW heritage site.

My G60 has done 190K miles & is 25 years old, the transmission oil has never been changed as far as I am aware. Would it be a good idea to get the old oil drained & replaced with new. The car is running very well for its age & is a pleasure to drive but occasionally getting into 1st gear is a bit of a struggle.

Superb work & fabulous pictures, I have a mildly modded 92 G60 that has been an absolute rock & has never let me down in 24years, these really are great cars, good fun to drive with superb driver feedback thro chassis/steering & with a little TLC utterly reliable. Hope you get real joy from it after all your hard work.

Some 92 G60s although had early interior had a later ateering wheel which is much nicer as well as the facelift body parts.

Is the heat exchanger that uses coolant water to heat/cool the oil used on any of the other engine options? or is it just used on the G60 PG engine.
-
Noticed oil dripping under front of car from filter area & when I checked dipstick no oil to be seen. Quickly topped up oil & drove short distance to my garage. They have replaced the little oil cooler & seals. Thank goodness I noticed this before any serious engine/charger damage was done, the rate it was coming out it wouldnt have taken long to empty the sump.

Steering pump, tensioner wheels, 2 belts replaced & engine now beautifully quiet, can hear the charger working nicely with the drivers window down. Very happy with the result.
-
Yes my local VW experts confirm steering pump noisy, they also say jockey wheels & serpentine belt need replacing, they have ordered the parts & will do the work when they arrive.
-
Pretty sure its the power steering pump now, its with the experts for confirmation. The hydraulic fluid is still on the high mark so its not leaking. Wondering if changing the fluid would fix it as its never been changed in 24 years.

Noticed today the rattle or intermittent click suddenly started when I turned the steering wheel whilst almost at a standstill so now I'm thinking maybe the power steering pump is failing. The pump has never been changed & has done 180k miles. I'll try to get under the car & use the screwdriver listening to confirm. I notice GSF have these on their website. I'll update when I know more.

I have a feeling its the alternator like you suggest, it was a rebuild from GSF, seems to make a chuff chuff noise which is also accompanied by the intermittent clicking rattle sometimes especially in cold damp weather?? Its charging ok so I'm tempted to leave it for the time being, dont think its a bearing as its not droning just this annoying rattle sometimes.
-
I also have a intermittent rattle from idle up thro the rev range, but mine is more noticeable at idle from cold & sounds a bit like a ball bearing rattling around in a tin, sometimes its gone but it seems to be happening more recently so I will have to get whatever it is fixed. Seems to come from the belt end but there are so many things down there, I dont think its the charger or the alternator they are both only a couple of years old. Cam belt is well within its expected life & the roller was changed last time with the belt. That leaves water pump, hydraulic pump & jockey wheels on the serpentine belt. Anybody else with a G60 had this & fixed it? any info would be very useful.
