  1. Be very careful if you decide to get the Hella/baur matrix from GSF, they seem to have LHD ones labelled incorrectly as RHD which is a right pain in the wotsit when you only discover the problem when you take the old one out...
  2. Picture 4 it looks like the connector for the CO pot/air temp sensor is lying underneath that big blanking plug in the boost pipe, can just see what looks like the back end of it. Its a 3 pin plug that plugs directly into the sensor & gives the ECU vital info, without it the ECU is probably running in limp home mode. Cant help with the delete boost return pipework/blanking I'm afraid, my pipework is standard apart from a boost dump stop valve in the ISV pipework, a mod that was fitted at the same time as the charger pulley/chip before I owned it. Regards Mick
  3. Nice looking G60, sounds like its had similar performance mods as mine, 68mm charger pulley & chip which should give you a 10bhp boost maybe 170 - 180 bhp if its running well. I have had my 92 J plate G60 since it was 1 year old & its been utterly reliable & is so enjoyable to drive, that torque & power that really builds from 2500 rpm still thrills thro the gears after 20 years. I hope you get as much pleasure from yours.
  4. Oil temps of 100 - 125c are normal for a fully warmed up G60 depending on how its being driven, ambient temp etc. Mine has chip/68mm pulley without a cooler & is 110-120c for normal driving & its been the same for 19 years. The most important thing is regular oil/filter changes & good quality 10/40 oil.
  5. My G60 is J reg & has face lifted exterior & early interior except for the steering wheel which is the later one, I guess they ran out of the early steering wheels, & I'm so glad because I much prefer the look of the later one. Good luck with your search they were pretty rare when I got mine way back in 93.
  6. Another top mod on my G60, 68mm charger pulley/chip & boost dump block valve that lets you keep all the charger pipework so the oil vapour from the cam cover breather helps to lubricate the charger & prolongs its usable life. Of course the door handle mod & the headlight loom + nightbreaker bulbs mod are also excellent & made a big difference.
  7. Lets get back to basics lads, one of the best mods to my G60 was grinding the shoulders down on the wiper arms & fitting new standard Bosch blades, they now work perfectly for a few pounds & keep the original look.
  8. Took G60 for a fast run today, the car is a legend, Bournemouth to Chichester in 55mins, 160k on the clock & running as well as it ever did especially since charger was replaced a few months ago.
  9. oweng60 I'll pm you my details. Regards Mick
  10. New front mount sourced from VAG Germany fitted today & its like a new car again. Part, labour & VAT £248 to my local backstreet VW specialist. Very pleased that my diagnosis was correct & can now drive the car quickly again.
  11. Had a look today, displacer looks intact when inspected thro inlet & outlet & no loose pieces when turned or shaken!! I think I managed to get it off the car before any real damage was done but looking at the little toothed belt it was just in time.
  12. I'll check it tomorrow but I didnt notice any obvious damage, displacer looked intact etc from what I remember. Mick
  13. oweng60 the charger is yours for £100 as seen, I have no idea what state its in internally but as I said it was taken off my G60 6mths ago still working but getting noisy, slight rattle on idle, has new toothed belt fitted & turns ok, no pulley as that was used on the replacement. Let me know if you are interested, Regards Mick
  14. Got one in my garage that needs a re-build, was taken off my G60 6mths ago still working but getting noisy & the toothed belt was absolutely shot when I inspected it. Its got a new belt on it that I had spare & turns ok but definitely needs internal inspection at the very least, at least its still in one piece. Yours for £100 if you want to collect it from Bournemouth let me know. Regards Mick
  15. Thanks for that, I guess I'll fit the genuine VW part again cos the way this car runs it could easily see another 10 years......
  16. Think my front engine mount has let go again after 10 years, G60s produce a extraordinary amount of torque at times dont they. genuine VW replacement will cost over £150 from dealer but there is a new genuine Febi-Bilstein mount listed as part no 357199279B on Ebay for £53 inc p&p. My question:- Were Febi-Bilstein mounts OE on Corrado G60s, if not has anybody had experience of theses parts? Any help much appreciated, Mick
  17. Ditch it & buy new with A++ energy rating, will pay for itself in 1st couple of years use thro energy savings especially if you make sure thermostat is set to optimum using cheap temp monitoring strips in fridge & freezer.
  18. What makes you think its running richer? How old is the lambda probe? If its running well & the starting problem doesnt re-occur I wouldnt worry about it, might just have been the ECU getting used to having a working lambda again!! Mick
  19. Lucky Guy, could have been sooo much badder.....
  20. Got my G60 in 1993 for a shade over £12k, she was just 1 year old & had 26k miles on the clock, best money I ever spent, she has been utterly reliable over 150k miles & now has a new lease of life with a replacement charger I got thro this forum that had done 25k miles from new. Amazing car & so much fun to drive, the low down torque suits my driving style, & I didnt realise until a few years ago but she was chipped with a 68mm pulley in the 1st year of her life! I'm 64 & really dont know what I will get to replace her when that day comes...
  21. Sounds like your base is amplified, needs a switched live from your stereo to make it work as it should or change the base for a non-amplified one.
  22. Sounds like it might be a problem with the alarm/immobiliser, was it factory fitted what type of alarm is it? does it have movement detectors on the front pillars?
  23. Glad to hear you got it sorted.
  24. Not sure what you mean by VDO ? do you mean ISV? but there are a couple more easy checks for this type of problem. Is the the idle screw still in place at the back of the throttle body? the sealing ring on the screw eventually disintegrates & the screw becomes loose & vibrates out & are the switches on the throttle body operating ok, they can get gunged up & sticky, there are 2, the idle switch & full throttle switch. With the engine off if you listen carefully you can hear the switches click at idle & full throttle. If its the ISV clicking every couple of seconds then it sounds like an electrical problem. As you may have read on this forum the various earth connections around the G60 are important for correct running & can cause ECU problems & even failure if not good & clean. The main earth from the battery should go to a point on the body behind the battery & then on to the bell housing. There are 3 brown wires that earth on the coolant flange stud on the r/h side of the head & an earth strap from the throttle body to the coil fixing bolt on the bulkhead. All these earths should be clean & intact. Another point of problems is the wiring to the lambda probe/oxygen sensor by the rear engine mount down behind & to the left of the engine where wires break due to constant engine movement. Hope you are able to sort this out without too much hassle, G60s are becoming rare beasts & are a superb drive when running well. Mick
