i had a k&n filter b4 the bmc ,i think i have the original in the loft to be honest i have not used the std air box for 7 years or so i have only tested the bmc up and down the road (no mot)(retest on friday) and its still a noce noise but not as loud and in your face like the k&n!! if you really want the std air box let me know i will have a look :)

fitted my bmc cda and relocated the carbon canaster engine bay looks soo much better for it :D

quite simply take the fans off and then remove the rad (drain the system first :wave: ) and also remove the grill then you have access to the crack pipe and like said above prob a good idea to change the thermostat housing and stat while your at it took me an afternoon .

you need to scan it with vag com i would say its just a sensor thats gone if your near farnborough i have vag com and will scan it for you

kind of thought this i have sourced a bosch lambda sensor for £30 posted i have a gas tester to see if there is any change after fitting i think there should be

well ive made a start and just brought a bmc cda as the k&n jobby was 8 years old i have done a full oil and filter change its got new platinium plugs (ngk's) any thing i have missed ????

NATURAL IDLE TEST CO 0.50 % VOL CO LEVEL 1.43% VOL FAIL :( would be good to know if its a good idea to get a new lamba sensor as they are £120 from the stealers or what to do really vag com is not showing any problems with the lamba sensor but one of the guys in the garage said it could be that hmmmmmmmmm

aaagggghhhhh once again failed on bloody emissions this time only on slow idle thinking of changing the lamba sensor and poss the air filter any other ideas :confused4:

small problem the test station is half a mile away i have been told if your driving it to an mot station with a booked mot thats ok so i could book an mot like 15 miles away !!!

it failed its MOT on friday on excessive play in rear wheel bearings :cry: (i forgot to adjust them correctly) so did that today and now they are as vw intended them to be and also failed on emissons fast idle 0.32% slow idle 0.7% :censored: which is a pain in the butt!! as the guy who did the MOT askes has it been off the road long ? i told him 2 years he says just take it for a long run and it will sort that out :nono: errm ok then no tax/mot so i did an oil change for mobil 1 and oil filter put new platinum plugs in cleaned the air filter i have already done the water works with a g12 mix from vw any other ideas to reduce emissions apart from take her for a nice long drive as recomended by the idiot MOT man !!!

pretty loud got a k&n 57i and magnex pipe i like it dont really care if anybody else dont :D
