  1. Only 2 weeks until the respray! Gonna start stripping it down a bit. Mainly inside as I want to fit new black carpet after the respray. Started to strip the insulation from under the bonnet as it was a mess and have new stuff to go on. Anyone recommend a product to get rid of the sticky stuff? On the purchase list this week is new sun roof seal and some cheap coils. Thinking if going bagged next year so not gonna waste money on expensive set up now. Any other bits worth replacing for post respray? Annoyingly I've started to get 2nd gear crunch unless the car is very cold or I go very gently. Would redline mt90 be worth trying to improve things? Cheers all
  2. on the kit i got the control unit has a couple of jumpers that you set so either give a 0.5s or 3.5s pulse
  3. The plan is to get this up to a decent standard, other than the mechanical work i've this week fitted this also new door strikers. The standard 90mm splitter was buggered so I got a brand new 50mm item from VW heritage as my plan is to go low. The wheels were in a terrible state, lots of rash and one of them very bent, plus they were a very nasty dirty flat grey colour. Last week all refurbed and the balloon tyres that were fitted were replaced by 195/40/16 much better! Next month its going to Shaun Harvey at CCW for 3 weeks worth of fettling, all panels straightened, rust sorted and respray in fresh aqua blue. Can't wait!
  4. starting this for my own benefit really, but comments always welcome. I've had this rado for about 3ish years, though due to a circumstance change it was taken off just over a year ago as I needed a bigger car, I bought myself my first ever non-VW, though didnt stray too far with an Audi A4! This is how I bought it: The bodywork was (is) tatty, the bonnet wouldn't open, the central locking didnt work, the electric windows didn't work and nor did the electric mirrors. On the plus side it did have working spoiler and sunroof! bonnet fixed by dismantling an old brake and cable from a push bike, works brilliantly and much cheaper than the other options available: The light blue interior and boot carpet was also essentially brown, so got the rug doctor and went to work: Obligatory boot build: along with comps up front, used the standard tweeter positions: I also refurbed some BBS RX2, 16" 4 stud from the mk3.5 golf cabby I had, ended up selling these when i took the rado of the road So last month the time came to come back to it after a year off, and this time I'm 'going for it'. Its now MOT's and back on the road. Had been covered but i did fear the worst when I uncovered it, but it wasnt too bad, just dust and full of cob webs and leaves. Also found a False Widow in the door shut! All cleaned and standard grille setup So far has had: new ISV new Handbrake cables new accelerator cable new bearing all four corners new brakes and pads all round new front ABS sensors new battery
  5. i imagine she left it on too long, it will never do that if used for single journeys as is their intention. All these T4s and T5s you see driving around with them that clearly never take them off are gonna be in for a nasty surprise when they do...

  7. that works fine, i lock the door and the windows / sunroof close. just use the longer pulse setting
  8. i've just fitted another one of these sets to my current rado, very easy to do, here is how to wire if anyone needs it: Corrado Loom - Remote Control Loom Lock Red/yellow - White Unlock Red/Black - White/Black Positive supply Red - Yellow AND Yellow/Black AND Red Indicator Black/Green - Brown Indicator Black/White - Brown Ground Brown - Black HTH, great and easy mod for the £25 ish the kit costs...
  9. i used an autobra one on my previous rado and have just bought another for the current C. They are good quality and provide a very good fit. I also use one on my Audi A4, again very good quality. The thing to remember is that they are not designed to be left on all the time and using it in the rain is asking for trouble.
  10. looking good, great name too, mine's called Carrie :-)

    Which tyres

my C came with borbets and had this tyre configuration, felt fine, nice look on the back but that size on the front is too big, looked awful and made the steering heavy. I have just swapped to a 195/40 on the front. Matches the stretch on the back perfectly and is perfectly comfortable. I used to run 195/45 on a 8" all round with no issues, what i have now is less stretch.
  12. i've just recently fitted one of those ISVs from ebay. Its only been on for a few days but so far so good, certainly a million times better than the two used ones i picked up that were both duff and no amount of cleaning could fix...
  13. sorry i didnt get back sooner. Yes please, I'll take it. PM your details and I'll get you paid... cheers

    What earth?

doesn't matter where you put it but the amp end is usually easier. This will not alter the amount of bass you get at all... http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/ground-loop-isolator-vw43w bit pricey, ebay is probably your friend...
  15. have you still got this?

    What earth?

whenever I've had this sort of issue in the past its been fixed using a ground loop isolator in line with your phono leads. about a tenner from maplin or Halfords...
  17. can anyone tell me how to do this as my idle is still causing problems, getting worse in fact. I'm pretty sure its nothing to do with the ISV or throttle body pot as I can disconnect the ISV and the idle still goes up and down its really doing my head in now!
  18. i'd have thought anyone looking on ebay for something like that will be members on here anyway...?

    wheel bolts

    i think they are 25mm?
  21. Holy ****, nuggets are good, but not that good! Kinda reminds me of my 2 year old if he doesn't get what he wants!

    wheel bolts

Cool that explains it, I must have m14 radius and I need m12. 94 valver 4 stud As has been said oem wheels will be radius, after market will be taper. You don't want to be mixing and matching people, dodgy.

    wheel bolts

what size are they? i want to fit my RX2 but the bolts holding on the current borbets are taper i believe and i need some radius ones. I found a load in my garage but they must be from a later VW as they are too big to pass through the wheel. cheers!
