cobra immob removed this morning, fingers crossed this solves it and I can get a new one fitted asap. The guy doing it said the installation was ropey at best, some wires not connected others twisted together and held with a bit of tape.

Well I unplugged this and idle problem still there. What is it and what should have changed due to being unplugged and if nothing changed does it mean whatever it is is broken? -
i had someone recommended to me, they are coming to where I work to get rid of it on Monday morning, £55 - i can cope with that. If that seems to wort it out then I'll get them back to actually fit me an alarm. He said it would only save me £30 to get it all done at the same time so thought it was worth that to take an immobiliser out of the equation to simplify any further fault finding - hopefully wont be needed! going to be pessimistic and assume this wont work so I won't be disappointed! If anyone has any further thoughts, please let me know!

but if that was the problem surely i'd never be able to get it going? as i say disconnecting battery for 10 mins or so seems to cure it and car starts... just called an auto electrician about removing the cobra immob and he said it would be £3-500 !! sod that
-
nothing else that would be cured by disconnecting battery for a bit?

been reading various posts which talk about the blue temp sensor, is this relevant to this issue / the 9a engine! (excuse any ignorance here i'm no mechanic!) -
this. not tried on IE but in chrome its not formatting correctly (hopefully its not intended), text over text etc. personally i don't like the home page being the activity stream. must say though speed is vastly improved, especially the search function..

I only getting increased idle when the engine has warmed up now 1000rpm rather than 900. Any temp sensors this could be? It's running a little rich too... -
Ok, after changing ignition switch problems cured for a week. Had more issues relating to a dead battery, replaced that, all fine until last week and this evening yet again turn key and nothing. Well dash lights on and I can hear relay clicks and fuel pump, but no turning over at all. Both times I solved it by disconnecting battery for 10 mins, car then started fine. Does this sound like the immobiliser is screwed (cobra), or something else? Is it to do with that sensor not being around the HT lead? Please help its beginning to p me off a treat. Sold a perfectly reliable golf to get another c, while I love driving it I at least need to know it will start reliably!

hi is the rear vw badge still up for grabs? -
You say that but, after telling everyone how rare they are, the first day I drove my new C to work I passed 2 on the way home! Then yesterday I was at a wedding telling someone about the car and they said 'oh yeah cool a Corrado, is it the one in the car park?' Mine was tucked up at home but sure enough there was one in the car park of the hotel, ven had the same wheels as me!
-
ah ok cool - thanks for confirming

yes just asking about the indicators. and to further clarify i want essentially know if the early indicators will fit my late car (as loads of early about but not many late it seems). I know the fog arrangement and bracket is different between the two but to me the indicators look the same...
-
thats what i was thinking, perhaps its just the new mounting system that makes the indicators stick further out on later cars rather than that the indicators are actually different?
-
I realise that the fogs for early and late models are completely different and non interchangeable but is this also true of the indicators? Are there early and late versions or are they all the same..? also does anybody know if there are multiple versions of the in pro crystal fog / indicator combo? are there UK / euro versions - wouldn't have thought so but thought i'd check. thanks as ever
-
Have you sold the crystal indicator / fog set yet? If not please advise, very interested. Also do you have the original grille available? Thanks in advance
-
Hi I'm after either a good condition driver side indicator and fog or a complete set of the crystal items. Car is 94. Cheers!

whats the passenger side door like on it?

I got one from eBay, in fact I got complete set, both handles with locks, boot lock and ignition, less than those currently listed too. I'd like to if the plastic / rubber bits that sit in the door and that go on the handle are still available? ---------- Post added at 5:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 5:56 AM ---------- I got one from eBay, in fact I got complete set, both handles with locks, boot lock and ignition, less than those currently listed too. Figured this one out, the switch illumination for windows and sunroof only comes on with ignition switched, unlike the rest of the dash illumination which comes on as soon as you turn lights on.
-
have you checked the wiring in the doors, i bought my corrado with no central locking working, easy fix was redoing the wiring in the door that goes to the handle switches, more specifically the section that comes from where you plug the handle loom into. It splits into two and on mine - in both doors - those connections had corroded and crumbled away. Stripped some wires back remade the connections, taped it all up and hey presto c/l working!
