Yep i've seen a german coach with the tail and indicator lamps used as high level corner lights. Think I may have mentioned it before. And then theres the Lister storm that uses windscreen and side windows. maybe doors too

if you pop the connector off and look at the said sensor, you will see its actually a dummy sensor. Therefore no need to worry about the wire. I believe the real sensor is only on American Market VR's.

exactly the same as mine was David, now working fine with the new switch.

Fitted the new rad switch this morning, slow speed of the fans now kicks in at around 100deg. Result. Bit of a bitch to do on the vr though, had to drop the fan mount off its mounts to be able to get my spanner in to undo the old switch and tighten the new one. Thanks for the help. Mario, i'm 100% sure you are right, had forgotten about the radiator fan switch. Have now read up a bit and realise that the fans are only coming on at full speed, i'm not getting the slow speed which is controlled by the rad switch. The high speed is switched by one of the switches in the thermo housing (maybe yellow) so it defo points to a duff rad switch. I was just looking on etka to find the part number and then suddenly remembered that I had bought a new rad switch around 3 years ago for my old g60, but never got round to fitting it. Guess what I found in my VW parts box, one new rad switch! Sweet. Cheers Andy

Hi All, Just replaced the aux pump and a hose as I had a leak and pump sounded like a mouse. I have now run the car to make sure I have no leaks, while doing this I thought I would see how hot the water temp got before the fans kick in, it reached 115 deg. Is this normal???? When I turn the engine off at anything over approx 100deg the fans kick in and run for a bit. If this is all normal i'd rather the fans kicked in a little earlier to be honest, so is there a fan switch with a lower temp setting avaliable? I believe the yellow switch is one in question that has 4 wires going to it.

now you say that cm I remember my friends not having the symbol. PS thanks for the hoses, had to replace one this morning as it split, gooding timing that was!!!

here's mine, K reg VR, Gold. A friend has an L reg 16V and that has different typeface and sybol, not sure on the colour though.

Been fitting some new headlamp lenses today, what a difference they make, car looks so much fresher now. Also some further pics of the relocated carbon canister. The wheels should be up for sale next week, as it looks like I might finally be getting my new wheels after a two month wait. Cheers Andy

I have a new aux pump in the garage that i bought from VW as the old one is sounding a little unhealthy, havent got round to fitting yet, but this talk of differnt pumps made me go and have a look. The new pump is the same as the old pump and I have the connector with the humps. Only two wires going to the pump so disregard my statement on the last post as the worst that could happen is the pump will be running backwards if you got the connector on the wrong way. The new pump has the following part number for ref 251 965 561 B, it has a bosch motor.

timo, just wondering if this is the reasoning for you aux pump not running.......vw didnt change the wiring order between the different pumps did they?? stranger things have happened.

Why did Oettinger do sucha nasty grill for the Corrado, I like all there other stuff, but that grill is so ugly. I'd like to see how the bonnet fits on the white twin turbo, that pipe work lots high.

Just back from a stag weekend in Edinburgh (still feeling a little rough after finishing drinking at 7.30 this morning in the hotel bar....ohhhhh!), so have not been on since friday. Next weekend is bad for me i'm afraid, got to go to my parents with the girlfriends parents, sh1t! Woody suggested a weekday evening, thats sounds good as weekends always seem to be full up for most people. If sunday goes ahead, i'll be there in spirit!
