  1. Well done its always a nervy time hoping that they will pass. Mines due in the next couple of months and I'm already thinking about it. How sad is that?
  2. Hi Ben I'm not sure what you mean by fully rebuilt. I had the bores de glazed these came out looking great with no sign of scouering, lipping or oval shapped bores on cylinders 1+6. I had all the head serviced including skimming, Valves reworked oil stem seals and hydrolic buckets replaced however the latter dont normaly get changed its just that I had a problem with mine which led to the head having to come back off. Also the oil pump was replaced as the old one had a problem with the PRV. Cheers Alan
  3. Ok its not the best outcome -caught between too small/large. Give me some feedback and I'll type it in for you all. Its a very nice feeling indeed. Its something that being a VR owner that you have ticking in the back of your mind all the time knowing that at some point the chains ect will need doing at some point. I also had low compression on cylinders 3 + 6 so getting both jobs done at the same time was a no brainer. However I have constantly been asking myself the question have I gone the right way about it. You can buy another VR for that price (2340) or stick another ABV lump in as a replacement. But I've pumped a fair amount of money into this car, mainly on the drivetrain, and I wasn't going to walk away from it. So I think I've done the right thing. Alan
  4. Hope this helps and works. Took a couple of photos of the bill as the list is extensive. 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf02092010011.JPG[/attachment:1akum737]02092010012.JPG[/attachment:1akum737]

    Clutch judder

Had a brand new mount fitted to the rear end of the engine (nearest the coil pack) on that side anyway. Unfortunatley I dont know what make the clutch is. The car as got to go back for an oil change after 1000 miles anyway but I'll continue to monitor the situation and if it still persists then I'll get the mechanic to have another look. Thanks Alan

    Clutch judder

Just a quickie. Had a new clutch fitted when I had my timing chains done and I've noticed a judder from the clutch when I move the car from a standing start in reverse or 1st when just using tick over revs. Is this normal? just the clutch bedding in? or something to worry about? Thanks Alan
  7. Got the VR back yesterday after 1 months of enigine work  . The total price came to £2300. I'll try to upload the photo's that I took of the bill with parts etc tonight when I get home. The engine runs quiet with no tapping noises at all and runs smooth as silk just got to run the engine in for 1000 miles at no more than 3500 revs. Alan
  8. ^ Yep agreed must be good at giving BJ's
  9. at both the above posts
  10. Mine is still in the garage (28 days now) and missing I'm it like mad. The mechanic now thinks the oil pump is the culprit. It's pumping more than 7 bar  so the relief valve could be the problem. Update when next available.
  11. I'll post on here the price when I get my car back. The garage called me yesterday and said he wasn't happy with a tappy noise coming from the top end of the engine so the head will be coming back off for investigation :(
  12. Hi Ben my VR is currently under going a major engine refurb at this very moment. I'm having the timing chains/tensioner, clutch, head rebuilt + oversized piston rings - due to low compression in cylinders 3+6. I went through the very same thought procesess as you are going through - different engine/24V or have my engine worked on. I decided on the latter due to the cost envolved by going 24V and not knowing the history of replacement engines, I could end up back at square one going that route. My engine has just clocked over the 100 000 mile mark so going this route will (hopefully) see me with many years of happy motoring with piece of mind. For all that work I've been quoted roughly 2k give or take. I'm hoping to pick the car up sometime this week so I'll get the finished price then (hope there aint a shock for me) If you want I can PM you the final price/actual work envolved once its been completed. Alan
  13. Hi Neil lets hope it dosn't come to breaking it up :( can you hold out any longer it seems extream to break up a perfectly running Corrado
  14. ^^ Hi Ben Sheffield to Wrexham aint that far and some nice roads to check out en route. Would be worth the effort.
  15. Once again I can't praise you enough for your time and attention to detail. This is my favourite build thread and I hope you get as much pleasure driving this Corrado as I do reading your thread.
  16. Dont do it Wullie she's only after your prize possesion
  17. At least the last post slapped down hard on the "Wet Weekend in Bognor" jibe
  18. I've looked into the aqua gleam product and while it looks very good I can't get any more info on how long the product will last. I know there are variances to the differnt types of water throughout the country but I'm reluctent to pay 50 quid if I don't know how long it will last. Their own website dosn't contain any info or even a guidline on this matter and surley that as to be one main selling points of the product.
  19. What started as just a quick wash and dry off turned out to be a mini detail. We got a hose pipe ban in the NW and washing a car using a watering can aint something to look forward to. In the heat I wasn't happy with the finish so I polished the whole of the car then thought to myself "sod it in for a penny in for a pound" then waxed the thing with collinite. Now my arm and shoulder are killing me but at least the VR is looking good. Recooperating drinking lots of cider :D
  20. Jesus how much power does that twin turbo rocket machine put out? Never seen that before looks amazing apart from the front spoiler. As for the original car thats nice too however I'd knock him done a few quid on the state of the air filter
  21. How does it handle? If driving in a straight line does it pull to one side when braking hard? Maybe the geomatry is ok with the steering/suspension but the bumper is out by 10mm. Sometimes, looking dead on at the front of mine, the nearside wheel looks as though its slightly out but its very stable on the road. However my bumper dosn't line up with both arches so its difficult for me to come to a proper conclusion just using sight alone.
  22. N reg looked like a VR on the A533 heading towards Whitehouse Ind Est 08 30 this morning gave a flash and a wave. Looked like a nice clean example
  23. The school run is a nightmare. I pick my kids up and park in the small car park provided. Sure enough its not long before another ding appears along the crease on the drivers door :( I feel your frustration however if you catch them red handed what can be done if they deny it?
  24. Another Twilight Violet nice colour mate  but then I'm biased as well. Nice wheels too
