  1. Having arrived a little later than expected at VW Action last night we have set up in the general camping area. If anyone coming to the show today wants to join in and form a mini Corrado meet then you are more than welcome. If you call either John on 07976 020031 or Troy on 07809 644277 we can guide you to where were parked up. Hope to see a few of you later on [emoji106]
  2. We are at VW Action on both days this weekend, with our Corrado 2.0 16V Turbo 4WD, we will be happy to discuss any aspect of servicing and tuning with all those interested in same. Please find us and say hello, looking forward to an enjoyable weekend amongst like minded enthusiasts [emoji106] http://www.johnmitchellracing.co.uk JMR Ltd
  3. Totally agree would make for a very agreeable weekend. Anyone getting there earlier on Friday who could make it happen. Access to the ground is available as of 12 noon Friday. We won't be arriving until approx 6pm.
  4. Ok Jim, thanks for the reply. We are going to head up on Friday afternoon and camp out till Sunday, find a spot for Saturday and enter the Show And Shine "modified water cooled" category on Sunday. Well, it would be rude not to as it's free [emoji1]
  5. Is there a Corrado Club or Forum stand organised for Saturday?
  6. It will be an early start, but am good to go with the meet point and on to Santa Pod. Good on yer for organising this[emoji106]
  7. Look forward to seeing you there[emoji106]
  8. Looks like a nice little bit of Enthusiasm going on here for VW Action weekend. I think JMR will have a look at this and give the Corrado a second showing for 2016.
  9. Deffo more a VW Action kinda Guy [emoji1]. Thinking of bringing the Corrado along next weekend. Let's see how we go next week, as there's plenty to be done in the workshop, let alone with it being a short week.
  10. It's looks to be an electrically operated central locking actuator. It could be that this was an ill informed repair to a fault in the CDL system, instead of repairing the vacuum OEM system. I have seen people fit aftermarket CDL systems because they thought that the Corrado did not have it as stock, and other times where these actuators have been fitted to allow a remote locking alarm fob to operate the locking system.
  11. Thank you Jim, appreciated. Modified cars typically don't receive recognition and indeed this was a total first for me. I have no issue with this situation, as we all work hard to keep our cars in the best condition. The modifications to my Corrado were not completed to hunt down trophies moreover to push out the engineering walls and steal seconds from the clock. However, we were totally shocked and delighted to have won such a prize. Encouragement indeed for those of us that seek to enhance this fantastic coupe.
  12. We set out at 5.30am on Friday and arrived at Harewood House show ground at 11.30am. The journey up from West Sussex was surprisingly good and sure the M1 had its restricted speed sections, but all went without issue. Phil was on hand on our arrival to help with arrangements and again all went well with storing my Corrado overnight. On the day of the show we were delighted to see 40+ Corrados on the display and a real cross section of models. It was great to have a chat with many of you and apologies to those we didn't get to meet. Troys partner Dominique had baked 50 cup cakes, all with vanilla flavour purple topping (JMR Ltd company colour) to give away to all we met and these were eagerly devoured. We had a continual stream of folks keen to learn all about our Corrado 2.0 16V Turbo 4WD car, and on its first outing after three and a half years of development, I think it's fair to say it caused quite a stir. Our day was rounded off to perfection when we were told we had won the "best Corrado in the show" award and were required to drive over to the front of the house, along with other award winners, for a group photo. All in all a superb day out, a brilliant first showing response for our freshly re-developed Corrado and a great opportunity to meet and greet a great bunch of folks, old friends and new. Our thanks to the organisers of VW Festival for a job well done. http://www.johnmitchellracing.co.uk
  13. Heading off at 5.30am tomorrow, so hope to see you all at the venue by midday. Am I popular with my Wife, not likely, as Im going to a car show instead of attending the first day of our summer holiday [emoji54]
  14. Final tweeks to be carried out to my Corrado this week, including road testing and set up. All being well our plan is to trailer to car up to The North on Friday and drive in to the show early Saturday. We will be there for the Saturday only and travel back that evening. Looking forward seeing you all there and of course driving my Corrado to its first show after three and a half years off road, under re-development. http://www.johnmitchellracing.co.uk
  15. You're a good fella Ron to offer undertaking organising this for the forum. I know only too well what it takes to sort all aspects of a road trip like this. As I organise the JMR Ltd Le Mans road trip annually. If anyone is wondering what the whole Le Mans experience is all about, then grab this opportunity for 2017. After your first year you will have a great insight into the experience and you will form your own way of enjoying the whole experience. Ron and I illustrate this aspect and we both have come to love this event and attend it annually. Ron's plan, offers a great introduction to this iconic race. I look forward to seeing how the offer is embraced.
  16. Sadly we did not meet up, but then there are rather a lot of Brits attending this event so I won't hold it against him [emoji12] Ron tends to favour staying on site at the circuit, whilst I prefer to camp in the grounds of a nearby Chateau. We have been using this base for our Le Mans trips for the past three years and I intend to do so again in 2017. I can't recommend the Le Mans 24hr WEC too highly, it is quite simply a must for any enthusiast. Forget the overrated world of the current F1 circus, WEC is where the real Motorsport is to be found. Once you experienced Le Mans you will be hooked. £55 for 4 days of top class Motorsport, with included pit lane access and no additional hidden expense! Incredible value!! I had a great time this year with our group. We took the ferry, Dover to Calais, because the boat is more fun than the train and you get a better road trip launching from Calais. 4hrs later arrive at the venue, after some "autoroute entertainment" [emoji1]. Tents up and into the old Part of Le Mans city for a meal. On to the circuit, using our parking tickets for Rouge parking and night qualifying. Friday to the circuit for pit walk and check out the displays. Later enjoy the camp site car show, buffet and live band. Saturday back to the circuit to take in the incidental racing followed by the all important 3pm start. Back to the circuit at 11pm to watch some night racing. Sunday, claim your spot trackside for the building drama, as the race is brought to a finish, commiserations to Toyota[emoji853]. Post race hang out and wait for the road stages of the circuit to re-open to the public and then go enjoy the Mulsanne straight down to Mulsanne corner, on to Arnage and the Porsche Curves before the fun ends. Got to drive this section twice, as it should be [emoji54], before traffic stopped play [emoji30]. Then finally back to the old city for a fantastic meal. Drive home Monday. https://vimeo.com/172795550
  17. We always recommend the OEM rubber encapsulated bushes for the torsion beam. They offer much improved function over the poly option and furthermore retain the passive rear wheel steering feature. Agreed the old OEM bushes are troublesome to remove and the new items need the Dealer tooling ideally to allow fitting, but they are worth the effort. We have the Dealer tooling to fit the rear torsion beam bushes, so if you require this being carried out give us a call. We are happy to carry out the whole job or just to extract and fit new bushes, for the more hands on enthusiast. We also recommend while the torsion beam is out, treat it to shot blasting and powder coating to protect it from corrosion in future. With the installation complete, whether by us or yourself, we will then carry out full alignment for you. For any of these services, or so much more we welcome your enquiry. 18. Thanks for the mention guys, we are always happy to help and offer advice. Mike please do drop us a line and we can quite possibly carry out a repair to extend the life of your charger. We are at Le Mans from Thursday 16th until Monday 20th June. But you can still text me on my mobile number. You can find all our details on our website http://www.johnmitchellracing.co.uk We look forward to hearing from you. Regards, John
  19. Thought you might [emoji1][emoji106]
  20. Hey not a prob. I really wanted you to be right [emoji1]
  21. Sorry fella, we are working our way through a sea of Corrado restoration jobs in our workshops and finding time to remember and tick those little favours sometimes struggles to hit the top of the pile. I will endeavour to square this away.
  22. Not wanting to be confrontational, but the throttle body you show does not have a throttle position switch, but moreover the stock idle and wide open throttle switches. If it did have TPS in common with the G60 auto, I would have bought it from you.
  23. No problem, glad to be of help. If we can be of further assistance with your charger rebuild requirement, you are welcome.
  24. Do you have a 9A engine available from this breaker? If yes I would like to discuss its condition and price please. Also, do you have a late complete, dash centre insert?
  25. The outlet is potentially somewhat restrictive for a G60. With regard to "pooling of oil" being evident this is not desirable and is indicative of oil seal wear, furthermore, if oil is allowed to accumulate in this way it could equally gather inside the charger and cause drag upon the displacer. This drag will cause additional strain upon the synchronising belt, which will fail under such load, causing catastrophic failure of your supercharger. If you wish to discuss any of this further or possible resolve to any aspect, I would be happy to hear from you. You can contact me at our workshops on 01903 718684 http://www.johnmitchellracing.co.uk
