    G60 Engine or Block

Thanks for the heads up on this Jim, much appreciated, but trying to send the guy a message is proving to be a right royal pain in the ***. My search continues.
  2. I urgently require a G60 PG engine block . The block is going to be bored out for new Pistons, so not worried about typical wear being evident. No heavily corroded or damaged blocks please. I can collect or arrange a courier to collect according to distance from Sussex. Cash waiting for the right deal. Please call John on 01903 718684 or 07974020031.
  3. I didn't think you were going to have a happy end there. It's not a prob though as this is not a complex shaped hose and 8mm injection rated hose will do as good a job. [emoji106]
  4. Most of our Corrados are tucked away in their garages receiving those finishing touches, ready to break out for the 2016 season. Their owners are getting evermore stressed and excited, by equal measure, at the thought of actually running the result of their labours. I reckon from late March to early April your wish will come true and our roads will once again play host to screaming valvers, howling G60's, burbling VR6's and the war cry of modified custom Corrados. 5. My pleasure fella to be of assistance.
  6. The damper bodies are zinc and colour electroplated only. This plating is really more for show than protection and will corrode relatively quickly if not protected by a waxoyl coating. This is by no means something to harm their reputation or build quality, but the price must reflect somewhere and not fitting stainless steel bodies brings the cost down considerably.
  7. AP coilovers offer fantastic value for money and in our experience they box well over their weight. Their KW build provenance shows through in the ride quality. When we fit the AP kits, we coat them with waxoyl once we have set the ride height and alignment. This ensures they do not fall foul of corrosion issues when next one wishes to adjust them. We then annually clean the units and re-wax to maintain condition. The KW's of course are stainless steel bodied, so no wax required. I hope you enjoy your new AP kit, they work well with Corrado and give good service life.
  8. Hose part number, as promised, 037 133 999 sadly however this is discontinued as of 01/03/14. So motor factor it is then and you will need 8mm ID injection rated fuel hose.
  9. I think this hose is now obsolete, I had great difficulty obtaining one a while back now. You can use fuel injection rated stock hose off the reel from a factor. I will check tomorrow for you on Etka and if still available will post detail.
  10. I'm assuming you have an aftermarket fuel rail, given the location of the fuel hose you describe being faulty. The potential danger of this is scary in the extreme. Sure, 16VG60 conversion relocates the fuel rail to the farthest distance from the exhaust, but a fuel leak on any engine is the same danger. Once you have repaired this, do give consideration to a plumbed in extinguisher system, as raising the bonnet to a face full of flame really doesn't improve the complexion. I use one of our FEV systems on my Corrado. These extinguishers use a deoxygenating gas which will knock out the fire in seconds and cause no damage to the vehicle unlike powder etc. The system is remotely activated without raising the bonnet. I recommend the install of such a system in every Corrado as we only have one crack at life and a fire will write off your entire investment far too quickly. Even with agreed value insurance, it won't cover the cost to rebuild another to the same specification.
  11. Oooh now that is tight, damn tight [emoji54] it's one of those pics you can't bare to look at but you really don't want to [emoji1]
  12. Well we have Corrado and Golf G60's in at the moment from North London and Suffolk. We have just completed mechanical restoration works to a Storm, that journeyed down from Derby. So if you require someone, you can trust, to make your Corrado roadworthy, we would love to hear from you.
  13. It sounds to me that the bearing was either fitted incorrectly, fitted without sufficient or any lubricating grease, or done up too tight or loose. Even a combination of these faults. It is also indeed possible that the bearing was faulty from the start, just to throw in a little balance to the argument? In a case such as this, where there has been an enormous amount of heat and fragment contamination, the repair will require a very thorough attention. I personally would expect that the brake disc, bearing and stub axle are likely to require replacement. It is therefore also likely that the ABS sensor will require renewal( if the car is ABS equipped) along with the stub axle retaining bolts and washers. Again I would recommend that you replace both rear discs and pads to keep balance across the axle, and indeed in accordance with good engineering practice. This work should be well within the remit of any decent garage, but a specialist will always be able to proceed with knowledge and greater confidence. The work is not difficult and only ever hampered by corrosion, if anything. We (JMR Ltd West Sussex) would be happy to carry out this work for you, but I'm sure if you require a call closer to home a n other will be able to make a recommendation. Good luck, John Mitchell
  14. VW G12+ will do very nicely and is available from dealer parts or your local TPS VAG trade parts counter. At JMR we sell it to our customers and decant into their containers from our bulk container, if you have a nearby Specialist garage they too might do the same.
  15. Flux capacitor, blown again [emoji849]
  16. Hi Stuart, yup you've got me there I have indeed got two Stuart's mixed up [emoji849] Ref your engine build I would recommend running it in for 2k miles on the stock G60 green tops and then a swap to reds for mapping post run in. I strongly recommend you fit a good quality adjustable FPR and ensure your greens are cleaned and flow tested first to prevent fuelling faults on that shiny new engine. We can of course look after all your fuel injection services and parts if you wish. Regards, John JMR Ltd
  17. Some lovely work and a good many hours going in there Stuart. Our Rebuilt chargers prefer to sit in smart engine bays [emoji1][emoji106]. Well done. I look forward to seeing you soon. PS I am still trying to get that Goodwood circuit site plan for you, but meeting with a little resistance at the moment.
  18. The last evolution of my original 8V PG engine was 1.9 block bored to 83mm with JE pistons, balanced and lightened bottom end, lighted and balanced flywheel, windage tray, Schrick baffled sump, ported and flowed big valve head, Schrick cam, red injectors, adjustable FPR, Ported exhaust manifold, JMR big bore high flow front pipe, Milltek de-cat system, JMR cold air intake, JMR ported throttle valve, JMR match ported inlet manifold, JMR Stage 5 G Lader build, custom re-map, oil cooler, JMR charge cooler, Nology HT leads and high power ignition coil, JMR engine breather system, plus some other kit [emoji12]. This little package was good for 250 BHP and I enjoyed it for a while, but like all things there were ideas brewing for a little more power, in the form of a 16VG60 build I had in mind.
  19. They did enquire about my Corrado, but I wouldn't like to say where that will go. Would be nice though. Never say never.
  20. Hi Kev, the plenum I bought from Mike Jenvey. A product he was breaking onto the Motorsport market just at the right time for my ITB intake requirement. It was this or make something for ourselves. Fortunately we could accommodate my Jenvey 55's with air horns into this plenum, it was tight but just nice.[ATTACH]83125[/ATTACH]
  21. Made from scratch after having made a template. The vents were bonded into the final item. It's made from fire retardant ABS plastic, to afford it durability and safe characteristics in a worst case scenario. ABS was also used to protect the dry sump system and the more sensitive engine compartment lower components from impact or road debris. We intend to introduce these to order. The under tray for my Corrado has been made to suit the RS front bumper, but we are making another style for the OEM bumper.
  22. Euros £57 + vat but no stock at present. Dealer circa £190 for same part. Do not buy used, waste of time and potentially dangerous.
  23. The Corrado was gifted with classic coupe styling, many believe that its timeless in pure form. I am one of those, indeed I would go further to suggest that with the appropriate modification to its engineering it can square up to many modern offerings. Cars only fade away when a passion for them is allowed to die. The Corrado was never built to please the masses and has always had to fight for its place and recognition. To own a Corrado is being different, to own a unique Corrado, is.
  24. Thank you for your interest. We will be testing my Corrado over the coming weeks. Once we have had the time to evaluate all the individual components and confirm their viability, then indeed we will be looking to market them as JMR products. We will make new product known to the Corrado ownership as soon as it becomes available. We hope to give everyone attending the shows this year a chance to view our Corrado and at some to see it in action.
