1. Bless you Jim, it is and has always been a pleasure. You are so right as regards the available support for this outstanding Coupe. Both myself and Troy are deeply passionate about our specialist status and in particular all things Corrado. The build he has in mind is going to be equally exquisite and again we are already developing new equipment for his Corrado. Sure we know our personal cars are not for the purist, but I completely agree that they do however keep the Corrado "alive" and a point of interest. That said, I have a place in my heart for every Corrado, because they all have a story and an owner with a dream they chase for it. It's not just a business proposition, what we do daily at JMR, we always have at least two Corrados in the workshop and I hope that will always be the case.
2. I just gotta love you Jim [emoji1], no messing, straight in there with the key issues [emoji106] and as I say you've got to like straight talking folks[emoji41] In answer to your questions, I would say yes to all of it TBH. For me, it is the build I always had in mind but with extras coming from my ever growing thirst for fresh ideas. With regard to the all new product and build configuration, these features once thoroughly tested will be developed into production items made available for our clients. As to what in detail will be made available is yet to become clear, but I can certainly say our centre diff and a lot of the engine build components will be JMR exclusive products. Now, my turn Jim, how can we help you? [emoji1][emoji12]
3. Thank you all for your encouraging response to my post. I forget now just how many times my car has undergone change and indeed how many modified engines I have bolted into it over the 22 years of ownership. 3 evolutions of the original 8V PG engine, 4 evolutions of our 16VG60 engine and now this latest 16V 2.0 Turbo. I think that will really have to be it, ----- well for now eh [emoji12]. The last three years working on this latest metamorphoses, has been intense. Every aspect of the car has come under the spotlight. The rear of the chassis has been cut out and completely rebuilt, the body has been taken back to bare metal and re-painted, the drivetrain and transmission have been completely re-designed and replaced, the fuelling system totally re-designed and replaced, the braking system re-designed for the 4WD, the wiring harness and engine management re-designed and replaced and the engine built up from an idea that first popped into my head back in the mid 90's, when I was playing with a Formula 3. Along the way we have inspired the development of a carbon fibre tailgate, designed and developed an all new mechanical centre differential, designed and manufactured numerous components that just didn't exist at all in the aftermarket. What a journey. I can't profess to have enjoyed every aspect of the build, as indeed there were many hours of frustration, but it has been like giving birth to another child, in as much as the pain is never truly forgotten but the delight of the revelation brings on a new and stronger emotion, so my Wife tells me [emoji15] We will be taking the Corrado to a number of shows around the country throughout 2016 and hope to be entering a some of the sprint 1/4 mile events. We look forward to be back out amongst like minded soles and re-kindling past and new friendships. Besides which after a build like this, we really do need to get out more, a lot more [emoji1][emoji1]
4. Thanks Sean, after a significant prototype build investment, we most definitely will be looking to production for a return. We are planning to exhibit my Corrado around the Shows throughout this year. Look forward to seeing you.
5. Hi Phil, I'm getting properly moist about hearing it fire into life, and then to hear it's war cry [emoji2]. My 8P S3 is enormously enjoyable now after all the work and tuning upgrades. I look forward to seeing you soon Bud.
6. Hi all, It's been a while now since I last posted anything on my build thread and much has progressed since that time. Some of you may well have seen pics going up on our JMR Facebook page John Mitchell Racing, where we keep a weekly information stream going on what we are up to in the workshop. My last pics gave a glimpse of the initial build on our 16V 2.0 litre Turbo engine. Well that is finalised and installed now. The Omex 710 ECU has been installed and wired in, including the development of our own hard anodised alloy crank pulley with crank sensor pick up. The cooling system has been re-developed to delete the stock water pump in favour of an electric pump. We have integrated a dry sump system into the engine and installed all the oil supply and breather pipe work into the chassis. A completely new exhaust system has been developed and custom built from stainless 3" pipe and this will be side exit in front of the nearside rear wheel. Lastly, in accordance with our allegiance with Aquamist water methanol injection products, we have installed their latest generation system. Currently we have been re-developing the Corrado's underside aerodynamics and this has entailed the fabrication of an engine under tray and installation of a carbon fibre rear diffuser. Currently we are engaged with fitting the sill trims and completion of hanging the exhaust. This when complete will allow us to move forward with final checks to all electrical and mechanical systems, prior to the long awaited engine start. This we hope to to take place within the next two weeks [emoji3]. After three years of development and hard graft, this moment is much anticipated. Just a flavour of what has been occupying my dark winter nights [emoji1], so close to completion now and then we start all the running in and testing the new systems. One system we are keen to see the results on, is our very own permanent 4WD centre Differential which we have designed and developed to replace the Haldex centre Diff and with it, a real answer to the 4WD conversion and the whole question over the use of part time 4WD the Haldex offers. Our Diff will give full time all wheel drive, through a mechanical non-electronic unit, which has been designed by us as a direct bolt on alternative to replace the Haldex. The pics show our prototype centre Diff installed. Following a full testing program this centre diff will go into production and offer an exciting new product for all vehicles using the early Haldex system.
7. This latest Milltek system is not a re-run of the previous offering. This is an all new system re-developed under the Milltek Classic range program. This new system offers better fit than the original offering and furthermore allows the customer a variety of specification options, whereas the previous system had none. The cost of this system is in line with other products in their range, which too offer specification flexibility. Milltek are the market leader and the preferred option for the VAG tuner. Agreed, their products are not within everyone's budget, but they are undeniably very high quality and thoroughly developed offering enhancement to the cars to which they are fitted. At JMR we have been Milltek stockists and installers since 1998 and have complete confidence in all aspects of their products. A point to note for some of you is that this system although marketed by Milltek for the VR6, will indeed fit the later "bar type" hanger equipped Corrados with the G60, 2.0 litre 16V and 8V 2.0 litre. We have fitted this new system to customers Corrado and can reassure you that it is a superb bit of kit. So jump at the chance offered here for a group buy bargain. If you are however reading this thread in time to come and have missed the boat, we at JMR will be happy to offer a competitive quote. We will be including one of these new Milltek Classic systems in our display at the VW Festival Corrado gathering at Harewood House later this year. We look forward to seeing you there. http://www.johnmitchellracing.co.uk
8. We have been promised an early copy of this edition of EVO magazine, in lieu of the half hour conversation I had with the editor of this Corrado VR6 feature, after he phoned JMR to get some background info on this model. We will be posting this on our website, within our "in the press" section. I do agree with the point you make Jim and believe you have fair point. However, we will post this as a record of our commitment to our specialisation in all matters Corrado. http://www.johnmitchellracing.co.uk

I look forward to meeting you Simon. I can bore you with 25+ years accumulated knowledge in Corrado specialisation [emoji1][emoji12]

...

[emoji1]. That has just amused me Simon. Not for your displeasure at the required repair, I might add, but because I was in a lengthy conversation with Evo magazine today to advise them on all points ref an article they are writing on buying a used VR6 and all of those things you just mentioned I highlighted in my points to note on this subject to the Editor. Sunroof for Corrado is a huge issue, as new spares do not exist, unless you can locate new old stock with private individuals. Most owners source what they need from breakers, but this too is fraught with "danger". Am always happy to help if you need advice.

I'm sure you are familiar with the Speedline wheel but here's a pic of some on one our customers Corrados which we recently re-furnished.

Most likely would have been the Speedline five spoke in silver finish Simon. It is possible that the wheels could have been changed at Dealer with UK Dealer options, but even so it would have been imported with Speedlines.

Wellcome Simon, excellent to have another Corrado safe in the ownership of a passionate enthusiast. From your previous projects it is clear that you the right credentials to ensure the future and good looks of this latest acquisition. I love your 993, which in my opinion is quite the most beautiful 911 ever. Good to hear you are local, a fellow Sussex man. I look forward to seeing you at shows, Goodwood, my workshop [emoji1], in the near future. Regards, John Mitchell
14. Hi Ron, give me a call tomorrow as am unable to talk just now. I look forward to hearing from you.
15. Hi Ron, have been reading through this post. We (JMR) can clean your fuel injectors as we have been providing this service since the days when we used to see you at our workshops. With regard to your can cover we can powder coat this for you and this would be the most durable finish possible. Give us a call, would be good to hear from you [emoji3][emoji106]
16. From cold, before you start the engine is your coolant level correct in the reservoir? If not the first item to loose circulation is the heater matrix. However once driven the coolant would be pumped into it and of course once heated the loss of water to it when idled get thereafter would not be so much noticed. Do you have one of those nasty diverted valves fitted that were part of a recall to prevent the old type heater matrix from grenading? These valves are often ok to start with but after a few years cause significant coolant flow issues like that which you are experiencing. If you do have one of these fitted, then my advice would be to remove it and your matrix and fit the later matrix without the bypass valve. Otherwise as others have said, an airlock is another favourite in these situations, but however, once cleared it should not re-occur with every engine start. Worn pump is a possibility, but would be very unusual. I hope this helps to resolve this annoying fault.
17. Am I right in thinking that was belt drive transmission?
18. I ran a radio control car club back in the 90's. The juniors would race indoor electric Mini stock cars in one of three classes. The seniors raced outdoor 1/8th 4WD I/c engine buggys. I used to race an ex Kyosho Works Turbo Burns with a Novarossi engine. I kept my last Buggy to the current day, my ex works Kyosho Inferno which also runs a supremely mad Novarossi engine. These are huge fun on an open piece of ground. Perhaps we should have an RC Buggy race at one of the shows? It's got to be better than having these cars gather dust in the garage!
19. Sprinter53 are you selling these or just providing the link? Your posting is unclear. Excuse the confusion, too many hours and too little rest is what I blame it on [emoji3]. I am very interested if these are new items.
20. You quite possibly could hear me approaching! [emoji1]
21. Andi, your dedication to your creation and the family it supports, is beyond reproach. So many thank you's and all richly deserved. I think I'm one of the few who can say we were there at the birth of your forum and still here to be counted today. Same Corrado, but like us all, it looks a little different now [emoji3]We all wish you the most happy of times going forward with your Wife and family. Thank you Bud. I think you can consider yourself, very much written into the history of this most loved Coupe. Best regards, John JMR Ltd
22. I so relate to where you are tight now. I was taking those same pics of mine three years ago! Thankfully my project is coming to a point of closure very soon now. Excellent work, will look forward to seeing the finished item.
23. 82739[/ATTACH All getting very close now so don't want to miss this show or indeed the run down to Le Mans in June on our JMR road trip,
24. I'm planning on firing up the new 16V Turbo engine before Christmas and mapping it in January. To follow that a mechanical test period on the new 4WD throughout February and then after 3 years development G60 PJM will be back on the road. I have booked my place at the gathering and plan to enjoy every mile there and back [emoji1]
