Thanks for the input. There seems to be little info on them. I'd lean towards the leaving it alone option too. I presume there's no 'sport' option on the auto box for a longer rev etc and its quite basic??

I've seen a nice VR for sale but its automatic. I've never driven one. What's people's experience/opinions on the auto versions? Is there much difference/restrictions. Also is converting them to manual relatively straightforward? Cheers Andy.

The one for 10k on pistonheads i went for, after thinking for too long about it(as in too good to be true), and it had just gone the old guy told me. Gutted, it was £2500 in the add. As previously mentioned in the thread, putting it beyond the reach of most enthusiasts thats were the real loss is.

I believe others have enquired to VW and they confirm if they are genuine Storm models. Is the shade of green used not unique to them like the mystic blue then? This car seemed genuine, searched it against dvla records etc. Still hurts that I missed it..

Just out curiosity, did the Storms just run out on'N' reg only? I just happened to be browsing last week and a green Corrado on an M plate with beige leather interior and what looked to be a green grill too, was for sale at £2500. After spending too long thinking about it, temptation got the better of me and i called only to hear the words "it sold the other day" totally gutted. Car doesn't appear to be anyone's on here. Ad said it it had just topped 103k. Looked tidy and original too. Hope a dealer didn't grab it and it turns up at 9k in a showroom.. i'm not bitter.. honest

Dark coloured rado with big rims parked up outside dodgy "ideal engines" garage as shown on tonight's programme. Hope its nobody's on here ;-)

I saw about 15 sec's when some poor guy was trying to tell him what the northern and southern hemisphere's are. It just didn't compute. Told the wife I'd start divorce proceedings if she didn't turn it over/off.

I have used early fogs or a later type surround if needed depending on further investigation or a pic might help Andy.

spray some water disperser or WD40 around the cap (not when turning over or fireball time if sparking) then give it a whirl and let some temperature get up, sounds a little like damp bout the place. Had trouble with my metering head in the past, all I heard was "never take them apart." What worked was having another pair of hands manually open the the metal flap (sorry forgot correct name) that sits behind the metering head on top of the air box when ignition and pump are primed. You can then hear the fuel going through to the injectors. a blast of 'Quick start' down the air intake pipe for good measure too.

next to that troublesome flange there's a few sensors if its similar to the KR layout, see if they've cracked/split etc. should unscrew.

The larger parts are over at my inlaws farm and not with me, hence collection only and two locations, so I'm not always available to sort it out. If you want to arrange a courier for collection there's always someone in that i'm sure can tape and bag em up. Just let me know. Andy.

Thanks to the Wigan Haigh Hall vw show got to meet some club members and a butchers at the correct lay out for the heater matrix pipes fix. I wasn't far off! Tidied up engine loom wiring. Such a messy engine the KR! Anyway been shopping during a lull in progress for some more shiny subtle bits. Still got the Sebrings but managed to get these BBS RS 764's for less than it would to refurb originals so couldn't resist. Also might be some stainless going on soon, pics to follow. anyway took the car out for a v.short drive test and a clean.
