  1. ive downloaded navigator 9 and use that with a usb gps reciever.... i have just seen today tom tom 5 works with windows and you need to run it on an emulator.....il p[robably get round to doing this sometime soon..... i fitted a screen with ease into the centre console id just go with the flow you can always pic up another console if it goes tits up...... i have on the other hand thought about turning mine back to standard so may even sell the console as a job lot.....
  2. the original loom is situated behind the passenger side rear card the fuses sit there behind the card. leon has the heater loom along with the electric loom i sold it to him along with some seats he may still have it??? as vr6 says the electrics bit is really easy but the heated side of it is quite involved, fuses were situated behind the lower glove box shelf. there was main power from fuses box to dash switch then the harness went from right to left and ended in the rear card...
  3. never read your build before very good wish so wish i had cream leather...... tempted to re colour my whole interior but its tooooo cold at the mo plus i still cant decide weather or not im in love with my car (hence the for sale thread) would love to know more on the auto to manual change over time taken cost problems extras needed etc
  4. blackberry all the way. however i did toy with the idea of a white perlescent with a flip and pearl coat blue/purple...... saw it on a car once and it looks so so so awesom whiter than white but in the sunlight you get a pink or blue sheen on certain angles.......really really really nice.... anyway went for blackberry as it is awesome!
  5. Excellent thank you very much I know not really what I was afterbur at least there us now a decent list for people to reference if needed
  6. where can you get these SEM products?
  7. does anybody know the colours of interior that came in the corrado's. im particularly interested in the leather colours i know they did black grey and beige but what i need is volkswagens actual colour or name for it for example in a saab one of the greys were called buffalo grey mine is a 94 vr6 i have grey leather does anybody have any more info than that?? cheers
  8. probably coming in from the holes under the scuttle panel if it has been off before and the lugs snapped off then the hole is open there is a series of them running along of the front of the screen shit design imo might be wort thrying to remove 3 piece scuttle cover and putting something over holes apart from that not really much help sorry
  9. wow!! lots of questions!! :D umm 1) i got this stuff nearly 2 years ago and the specs etc have changed quite a bit it was what was on offer at the time and it was quite adaptable.. this looks quite good http://linitx.com/viewproduct.php?prodid=12310 2) seagate was cheap end of im looking at a new hdd 150 gb they are so cheap now its unreal space well thats up to you i didnt think id use that but i have added so much music now i need more room i want to rip a few movies to it too why? i dont know just for one of those just in case maybe one day we go on a long journey etc etc lol i dont know 3) the dvd drive plays cd's etc and dvd's but it mainly is for ripping the tunes / movies to the hdd oh and adding software 4) i run a rockford fosgate amp i use a usb to 3.5mm jck converter which runs through a 24bit digital converter, i am looking at getting a better sound card so i can run true 5.1 surround sound, i would like to use the THX sound program as it is awesome 5) this was the easiest bit, it wasnt an issue at all ,i would definatly do it a slightly different way next time though, only in the way of how i stuck it in place to begin with , i thnk i would now plastic weld more stuff in and fill in with plastic to help build it stronger still finish it off in the same way though, i quite like the way it looks , i wanted to try and achieve a oem look, i know its not stright out of the factory look but it doesnt look maccy d's car park if you know what i mean..... i fanyone would like more info on how it is doen i have no problem guding them through it i rekkon with all the tools in front of me this could be knocked out in 2-3 evenings onll due to the fact of letting things dry etc etc
  10. the p.c software is standard windows xp the add on software is something called street deck, i must be honest i havent tried any of the others (although they do look good) havent had any issues with this one yet though!
  11. as you have a blackberry rado il let you know!! lol i am biased. tacking glue use stuff like mitre bond excellent to hold bits and pieces in place , then plastic weld i used just the normal isopon p38 car body filler for the filling and then just sanded it back using different grades think i started with 180 and went up to 800 ish maybe a bit better but as i was using texture paint wasnt totally nessacary . texture paint is available form plastic surgeons or car body repair shops try halfrauds etc or a local car acc dealer all the leds etc i et from maplins as they are cheap as chips and they are local. they normally have red blue green white on display and you can press a button to see what they are like etc do you have a car p.c then? or are you getting one? thanks for the comments by the way!
  12. once the unit is rebuilt the next problem was the lighting, chose the red led strips more of a modern look and the only ones bright enough to shine through.. had to cut out melt all of the webbing on the back of the heater control panel, did this to get the leds to sit as far back from the heater face plate as possible , so i could attempt to get a better throw of light through the icons. a bit untidy looking but you aint ever gonna see it!! so not massivly important a few issues with the lighting i couldnt get numbers 2 and 3 to light up , another trip to maplins and picked up 1 more led strip had to make it fit pain the ass that was but got there eventually and the result is below..... ciggerette lighter location decided and light up the red strip across the bottom is now blue no pics though oh and here are acouple of screen shots will update as soon as i have finally ironed out a few niggles with the installation of blue tooth wifi being a pain and vag com , also with this i have got the full workshoop manual downloaded to the hard drive with all part number etc for the car so i can now run diagnostics and get the part numbers i need for repair..... over kill..yes but quite cool........
  13. pretty much finished the install on this had a few issues i had to deal with thought id better update the thread to show what can be achieved on a low budget and some off the wall thinking! with all the lumps and bumps you could see in the last few pics i decided it wasnt good enough, i had to strip the dash down again and well not start again but certinly get the filler and sand paper out... in sanding it right back it luckily revealed the heater controls, very light dust with texture paint and looks like we're good to go! dash all ripped out looks kinda daunting , its all good though fixed the dreaded heater sticking problem while it was all out made sure all the rings were clear of any over spray need them as good as poss for the light im going to stick in behind them. pic of the screen surround from the back dummy run to see what it looks like and where the hell was i going to stick the 12v socket?? get the glove box out and cut the back out of it enough to pass through hard drive and cd drive cables through should look like this mother board sits in the back of the centre console on the side of the heater matrix housing, easy acess to add /work on by taking out the passenger side shelf power supply sits up front on the side of the dash itself very snug wiring is a bit shite but then its not finished yet! some spare usb's repair manky heater flap now the paint is dry hold up to the light and you can see the heater controls!! yippe!!
  14. i paid £2250 for mine with mega history very well looked after example.... but as i wanted it right and it is not a daily after a full shell repaint, coilovers, rims, ice, my dash efforts, every bush/ gator/ joint replaced (just because i could) the car is still a long way from finished but it is getting there it also drives a shit load better too.... hence why i think its worth the money as most if not all things are better than expected, in hind sight i would have bought one already done and saved the hassle but it did tell me a lot about the corrado i didnt already know..... buying one for around the £1200-£2000 even £2500 not knowing what i know now for me would be risky....as they can soon become an overhead! lol
  15. mines got fvwsh and a new list of parts it only 109,000 miles id still want £5000 for it though.
  16. ? weird one eh? some silly maybe totally unrelated questions................ is there oil in the water? water in the oil does the header tank pressurise?? where ahve you teed into to fit this oil cooler? and where is it located?
  17. Ok some vr6's are auto's...yes some have switches that say E /S im guessing economy and sport mode?? so what is the difference between the two versions? is it the same ecu mapping? are they there for show? was it an option? if so how much? as i have just purchased a new gear surround and this switch has come to my attention if i wanted to wire it up could i? what would i need? loads of Q's but i just fancied knowing... cheers
  18. ah good stuff guys... my arches were dollyed back on the front so they are flush (if you get what i mean) i have no side repeaters in the wings so not really a problem for moi i thought the liners would rub on 'lock' to 'lock' though?
  19. i found little point in retaining the liners due to the areas i needed out the way. yea sure anything is possible to retain them but too much of a ball ache, and i didnt want to piss about with flappy bit sof plastic or fabricating mounting points. i just wanted something that wasnt going to rub . ever. would like to see what other people have done in this instance as if it is viable i might even have a go myself!
  20. There is another name for it but it escapes me, it's a weather proofer comes in black or clear like a wax that vw put on the inside of your panels

    airbrushing????

i love airbrushing and yes i know of a guy..... killer paint ask for john i had my spolier done many people thought i was horrid .....until they saw it in the flesh and they cant believe how good it looks.... as you can see you cant see it from this angle it is quite subtle depending on the lighting so as yuo can see it is a bit different in all the pics,... hope it helps?
  23. i went through this very turmoil last sep.... i ended up buying an auto vr !!!!! it was the best car around at the time for the money mileage model condition etc etc history... i paid £2250 , it had 107,000 miles it was blackberry and had grey leather (electric recaro's) standard form arpart from a magnex exhaust. i had the same thoughts as you, something reliable stick in the garage over the winter months and play in the summer, well i have stuck it in the garage this is true and it has hardly mooved since ,not due to the fault of the car but the lack of funds in my wallet!! :D the car has got complete anal vw history i have a box file absolutly stuffed with bills recipts all vw main dealer , i have spent money on small mods etc i wanted some paint work done as by the time you do a patch here and there i eneded up with a respray... i have replaced every single bush, bearing, linkage and boot on the front end of the car (got to do the rear next ) not because it needed doing but the parts are so cheap it is kinda well if im doing that i might as well do this... and the difference it made is incredable makes the car so so tight to drive.... point is i guess it doesnt matter how cheap the car is or clean tidy etc your gonna spend more than you intended if its a project make sure you pick something up with decent body work dont worry about the rest as the mechanical stuff is easier to get sorted and at least you know where you stand with your car then... i too have been toying with the idea of selling mine i love it dont get me wrong but with the prices as they are i think it wont be going anywhere for quite some time!!
