Good luck, I'd be interested in the result too. I seem to have a set-uip that may have been put in by the original dealers, with as you say six wires not five. Reckon it will be to do with the later cars having a window control box, so you may find having the box deltes the need for an additional return from the switches...BTW the switches I have are early type, look VW, but the wires are soldered to the back of the switch. The function on them isn't particularly positive, has anyone got any replacements going cheap? Must be early type, and with six wires soldered to the switch rather than the 5 wire VW plug-in type.

Mind you, think the best conversation I had was with a local garage doing my front struts .. Him - 'Right sir, is your's a G60 or VR6?' Me - 'Neither, it's a 1.8 16 valve' Him - 'No, can't be, says here there is a G60 or VR6' Me - 'There was also a 16v, and that's what i've got' Him - 'No, you must be mistaken, it says in my book.....etc' Me - 'If you can look under the bonnet and find two extra cylinders or a supercharger your'e a better man than me' -
Well, sniff, it's not tooooo bad I suppose. Mind you, it's not a 16v is it, you know, 'the original and best'!....... (lights blue touch-paper, stands WELL back!

What a missed opportunity, surely 'shouldperhapsbeinasplittyorperhapsatypetworatherthanafastwatercooledcar' soundsl ike it would have been more appropriate! Mind you, you need to be a succesful bank robber rather than a hippy to buy a decent 'splitty' these days!

Henny, We're gonna have to start paying you soon! Thanks...again!

Ordered the water pipes today, so that's sorted (thanks again Henny). Final question hopefully- was thinking of cutting a hole in the plastic trim to the side of the radiator and mounting the oil radiator there. But, would it be better to mount it in front of the water radiator, so at least itl'l get some airflow in standing traffic when the fan kicks in and draws some air over it?. Otherwise in standing traffic the oil rad will just be sitting there with no airflow over it....any thoughts either way please?

Load of bollox! Pretty much any Corrado in good condition is going to be a winner! The which is better argument is tiresome  , theyr'e all Corrado's, but with differrent engines giving, un-surprisingly, different characterisitics .

Can't help over the aircon possibility, never had air-con! If it's not coming from an external source, then it must be system related, and in that case I would double check there are no leaks from under the dashboard area. Once the carpet is dried, might be worth laying some paper across under the dashboard area overnight to see if there's any drips on to it overnight?

If the door seals are anything like the Corrados, do you park facing slighllty downhill at all? On mine if i parked facing downhill, so that the forward lower corner of the door aperture was the lowest point, water would track across the door seal outer across to the interior side and run down to pool in the footwell (did that description make any sense at all!) Put a small slit in the outer edge of the seal corner, solved it.

Henny, Perfect, many thanks! 8) !

Yeah, my rear box OE rubber mounts normally lasted aboutfour months tops! Fitted a Powerflex mount instead and it's lasted 3 years now, very good, and no sign of it deteriorating at all. Only trouble is they come in an attractive yellow colour, but very good nonetheless. About a fiver each though, as I recall!

Ah, forgot to mention that one! Theyr'e both very good and worthwhile mods.

Welcome! Looks a nice one that. 8) Might want to check out the Lupo wiper mod though before winter sets in

Hmm, bought an oil cooler set up today at Volksfest autojumble, so would like to resurrect this thread for my own benefit now! Basically - 1- On a 16v is it normal to bolt the new sandwich plate between the oriignal oil cooler and filter, or ditch the original oil cooler? Above details seems a bit contradictory. 2- If the original oil cooler is removed are the part numbers of the two pipes mentioned above valid for the 16v, and are they just joined to each other? If so won't a fitting to attachthem to each other be needed? Many thansk in advance. Mark

Andi, I always say the best tip for living in the World, for all situations, is on the side of a matchbox.... 'Keep in a dry place, and away from children' ....too right!

Think it's the modern equivalent of having someone walking in front of your car with a red flag. Acts as fair warning that there's a knobber behind the wheel. Talking of which I CANNOT beleive I saw a car today still with one of those bloody 'Ingeeerrlaaaand' flags on their car

 This one's gonna run and run I feel! ....... Karmannlingus?
-
'Metrobation' ...nice one! If it were a Corrado would that make it 'Karmann knowledge'?
-
Ah, was gonna say at least 'she' was a lady and made you wait a week! Remember that sad bloke a few years ago in the papers who needed help to end his obsession with crouching down behind his car and masturbating! Now that would be a suitable case for treatment, especially as the car he was obsessed with was a Metro!

Sorry, my minds in the gutter again!...

Ah yeah, saw that too, was impressive the way he cobbled that together in no time. All i'm after is a dedicated MPH display though. Must be a way of doing it, other than buying a post 92 Corrado!
