jedi-knight83, Think ideally abouit 14mm? Halfords one was 13mm but good enough for me with a bit of sealant on the underside.
-
Halfords do a mixed bag of various sized grommets, got mine from there. Typical Halfords though, buy a bag of grommets, select the one that's the rights size, put rest away in case you need them ( i.e never).

BTW, when I ordered one from VW they initially sold me the wrong one, if it's a bright chrome type thing with a small locating hole in a bent over tang on the end probably the wrong one, so make sure it is the right one before you drive away. If it fits in the groove easily and is a dull greyish finish it's the right one, if you need to force it /distort it to fit it's the wrong one, get them to try again!
-
Yep, not too common, as the others say they were relatively on the slow side, so didn't sell majorly well compared to the other models. Nonethelss, it's a fine Corrado, and that's what counts, welcome on board.

Hmm, I would try lifting up the surround at your gear-lever (it unclips upwards) There are several different springs and circlips that occasionally break in there. Failing that there may be a problem at the selector linkage in the engine bay on top of the gearbox. Don't despair just yet, far more likely to be a simple gear selector linkage failure than a genuine gearbox failure I reckon. I would bet on a spring gone in the gear selector linkage under the gearknob area. Take a shufty and look for an obviously broken spring etc.... Just found this piccy, with the gearlever surround lifted, don't worry too much about the circlip the white pen is pointing to, often comes off, but that just makes the gearlever sloppy side to side, rather than your problem. I would look at the spindly spring forward of where the pen is pointing, and also the greeny coloured spring on the gearlever itself , and any other springs / moving bits in there.....

  ....goes to look up 'toilet ' in the dictionary...... :?

dinkus, Yeah, wev'e got those new fangled 'moving picture' cinema things up here now, in some villages they no longer point when aircraft fly over, and some of 'em even drive on the left!

About a year ago had that feeling, but test driving / looking at new cars soon put paid to that, theyr'e cr#p!. Was doing a few bits to car tonight and neighbour said 'more problems eh?' , at which I jsut said no, more of a hobby really. Then he reeled off a long list of £700 worth of trouble he's just had with his white Vauxhall. .... many cars get you down, but at the end of the day, it's a Corrado, youv'e gotta love it, it's the law! :) P.S Didn't feel too good last night though changing wheel in the pi##ing rain because a sharp stone totalled one of my new £90 Conti's! Felt so w#nk driving back home, damp clothes, dirty hands, water running down my back, pootling along at 50mph with a spindly space saver wheel on and the spoiler up!

Crazymarcel, OT Have you been to Robinson's Norwich recently, they've taken the girls who used to sit around in back office answering phones, and put them right by the glass entrance doors as receptionists as well. Someone obviously thought they were under-employed! Theyr'e really gonna enjoy sitting there in winter! Nice young blonde there though, looked really diiiirty  (in the good way)! Not seen her about since they moved the desk though :(

It's a VW Alfa Spider! Not bad for a new car, but NOT a Corrado!

Should be able to use large 'water pump' type pliers to grab the tangs on the pipes, sqeeze them together to loosen the pipe clamp, and wiggle them a bit to dislodge them, and they should come free after a bit of persuasion. There is a special tool to do this, but not necessary, best bet is as the above, and to replace any clamps like this as you go with 'jubilee' type clamps that just screw tight / loose with a normal screwdriver.

I'd consider swapping your leather for my fabric interior for the right money.....

20v turbo, You're certainly gonna have one hell of any eye catching driveway with her car and yours side by side, that's for sure! 8) -

Tell you what, that's not a bad paint finish for nail varnish! Must have taken ages. -
Mine's a fibreglass copy of the Kamei spoiler, I just did what Scott, says, apply some clear silicone sealant to the underside, place in position, shut bonnet, job done. (P.S don't forget to 'drop' the bonnet closed from about waist height, never close by pressing on the bonnet itself unless you like dents!)

Yep, Clarkson keeps having a pop at Mercedes crap build quality these days I notice. Things 'aint what they used to be! I'm sticking with the old school of motoring.

davidwort, Yep, it was single switch and surround. Decided against dualling the operation to prevent trouble in the unlikely event both switches got operated at same time. Switch in the roof is disconnected 'dummy', just attached new wiring from the loom in the roof down to the centre console, cut hole in gearshift surround, bonded switch surround in and away you go! No more looking like giving following drivers the finger when operating the sunroof. One minor thing was had to reverse the open-close connections from existing wiring to new switch otherwise the switch in the surround would appear upside down. Not enough room in the console to just turn switch around unfortunately. Looks good where you've put the switches, as mentioned above though, what did you use to blank the door card holes?
-
Yeah , that's a better location I reckon, could be my next job on the list. It was me with the relocated sun-roof switch. Can post piccie here when i get back home if you like?

I think the C does look good with the fogs on, but only when it's foggy! The only thing more annoying than fogs on when it isn't foggy is people driving around on side-lights with the fogs on! WTF

Corrado in Storage for a year or two?
kvwloon replied to Ice White Socks's topic in General Car Chat
One big flaw in the plan Ice White Socks, putting her in storage for a year or two means not driving her for a year or two. Surely not an option! -
I promise next time I go to pick up some bits from local VW stealer parts guys, I will ask for a price for a full service from the 18 year old 'Service Throughput Customer Liason and Facilitation Specialist Manager', or whatever they are called this week, just to watch as they struggle to call up a price on the computer coz they can't spell Corrado!
-
I'd be far happier to see a book stamped up by an independant VW specialist than VW stealer stamps, personally.

Have I set an official record ... for the most written-off ?

Just latched on to this thread again, sounds appalling. As Crazymarcel says, biggest bunch of shiesters going. I especially liked the way I lost no-claims with NUD because I had an accident, legally not my fault. Queried it with them 'oh, that's standard insurance practice, we couldn't recoup any money from the party at fault, so it goes against you'. What, I say, even if it's legally confirmed as not my fault, isn't that what insurance is for, I pay you, if it's my fault I lose NCD, if it's not it's the insurers loss to take?'....sorry sir , standard practice etc......sh#ite the lot of 'em, but especially NUD (in my opinion of course), and now it would seem Elephant, who appear to have a surprisingly short memory. -
Bloody , bloody hell! It's not for nothing they are known to 'us' as 'stealers'! If you can get a good rapport going with their parts people it's a good thing, but from what I have seen by and large the 'Service' people seem to specialise in being smarmy, wearing 'smart' suits, and ripping off old ladies getting their Polo's serviced. Find yourself a word of mouth recommended VW specialist, ideally originally trained by VW but who now runs own garage, and don't touch VW for services / rectification ever again. Utter sh#ite!, mostly, but then, you know that now. They rely on people saying 'oh, well if you (VW) say it needs doing, I'd better get it done'. They/you are the people paying for the free coffee machine and the nice marble flooring in VW dealerships all over the UK  ! Take's a breath, rant over! :|
