Yeah, I remember the Eastern CCGB meets used to get down to Essex occasionally.... Essex - Burned out Sierra's on the roundabouts.... Hertfordshire - Burned out Mondeos on the roundabouts.... No offence!

Hang in there mate, although you have my sympathy! Sometimes i feel the same, but still dont think i would be really happy to let my C go. Anyway, after spending a shed load of money why sell it to let someone else get the benefit? These cars are just getting to 'that' age I reckon, where you either sell before you have to spend loads, or spend loads and keep it. Never a good idea to spend loads and THEN sell it for someone else to get the benefit! Get it fixed and then go for a long drive on a sunny day, should sort you out! If that fails take a test drive in some newer soul-less Euorbox or Jap car :) Remember that Top Gear edition with the C in it!

The only thing keeping the front wheels on the ground is the weight of the engine.....must be a VR lump

WTF!   That can't be for real. If your'e going to go to all that trouble at least do a convertible rather than a bloody saloon for Christ sake. Is this genuine or some photo manipulation?

Yup, as before mate, symptoms sound exactly like how my 16v behaved after replaced my cam lifters, ran absolutely awfully until found a very slight air leak here..... pipe was just pushed on and all looked OK but ran and sounded like a bag of spanners. Securing this pipe with a clip fixed it! Worth a look, as well as the above?.....mind, reading the above again sounds like you already may have

Want to lower my standard suspenion set up by about 40mm (not a fan of the slammed look, nor the off-road look either). Trouble is I only fairly recently put new gas shocks/bump stops etc all round, so all I want to do is replace the springs. Is this possible without changing the shocks or anything else. As it's only a moderate drop I'm hoping to get away with just swapping lowering springs in. Finally can anyone recommend a good source of 40mm drop springs that aren't going to giver a harsh ride, and aren't majorly pricey....

£3,500, jeeezus! Could do some serious modding for that money so that no-one ever got to see your plate for very long! Consider myself very lucky, was looking throught the cheap Irish plates last year as was getting hacked off with my C being judged by the H plate alone, and nestling in between all the GAZ this and JIZ that type plates  , which i really didn't want was KVW 200N for £99. There is a God! I think it's a good plate anyway!!! Karmann Volks Wagen Toon, Loon, whatever....£3,000 anyone!

8v a bit lack-lustre performance wise, G60 charger worries, 16v my choice personally, but then I am biased! :D

Hmmm, coming in to this thread a bit late methinks, filled up with BP Ultimate yesterday, and I have to say , my 16v seems to be moving soooo much better since! Trouble is I keep booting it even more than usual  . Never noticed a real improvement using Optimax, but can definately notice an effect with the Ultimate, ......and I like it!

OK, let me know, will be ideal if 16v cassette holder fits OK, as thats a perfect template for me! Presume you are after two holes? Will be bare alloy for you to finish as you wish....like this.....which I gave to another Corrado owner recently! Should be able to paint, fit gauges, wrap something like sheet foam around them and push fit assembly in to the cubby hole. Thats what I did anyway.

After a heavy night on the town, followed by a kebab, I sometimes wish it was a recirculation type selector type thing! Just pray the sunroof keeps working.....!
-
Hmmm, well, was down Halfords recently and they had a set of similair style Bosch refills at about £23 a set  Guess Stealers will work out cheaper until demand increases and they become more common at general motor factors.... 'The lupo blades look like you can put refills in them, anyone tried? Not because I'm tight but so I can put some better quality rubber in them! They only seem to last about 3 months, tops, when the average blade life is a year.'

Not a fan of body-kits of any kind on a C myself mate, would spoil the great lines too much i think.....that's the great thing about the C, natural under-stated potency, dont mess with it i reckon......ahh, the way it curves down at the front mid-line, flattens across the doors and then sweeps up in a cheeky gentle curve at the back end....
-
That was certainly the effect i got....major panic on for a few minutes as thought i'd somehow managed to total the engine, oh...how I laughed! Pipe wasn't even hanging off though, just slightly loose!
-
Thanks for that Jim16v ! I'll get writing soon......

Mike 16v,... 'that's a relocated sunroof switch',....yep, I was gonna say that! Basically I got fed up with looking like i was giving following drivers the finger each time i used the sunroof. It's a much nicer place to have the switch, easy to operate sunroof without taking your eyes off the road. Might do a quick write-up for submitting to the Sprinter if i get a chance?! As for the making up a panel, I'm sure I could be persuaded! U after fitting two or three VDO gauges, and is the shape of the cubby hole the same on the early and later Corrado's? If u let me know it shouldn't take too long to sort out, (but I'm not planning to go in to mass production! :) )

As far as I know mate.. ... AFAIK means As Far As I Know!  Could have been worse, don't think anyone's posted to ask what one six V means yet, ..........AFAIK!

Infinity tweeters are excellent, especially when you fit them here.......often get favourable comments from passengers, tweeters are more directional than woofers so it's a great place to put them i reckon......just a thought! It's a bit of dark piccy but you should be able to see the 'Infinity' logo in silver in middle of piccy, that's the tweeter, same place on passenger side of course!

According to the Bentley Manual the box thing is a 'Vibration Damper'...and before all you VR6 people start getting under your cars for a look, it also says 'not used on vehicles with VR6 engine' Always knew there was a reason the 16v was better than the VR, you get 2 extra cylinders, we get a vibration damper, great!

Fat Tony - If you go on Ebay, do a search for VDO. When the list of VDO bits for sale comes up, find someone called Lowtension who sell all things VDO offering bits for sale. Send him a question, but asking for details of bulb filters for VDO gauges and his address. He should send you a reply with all the details. You get them in packets of three, but strangely VDO sell them as 2 green caps and 1 red cap in a packet!). He sold me a pack for £2 all in! He's a very good and knowledgeable VDO parts seller, a proper company called Low Tension based up North somewhere. I'd give you his details but ditched the invoice ages ago.

If there is any cash to spare....headlight loom upgrade, and some Lupo Gti wipers fitted are a good idea. Welcome to the joys of ownership, expect to spend more on petrol though, as in the words of Faithless youl'l often 'take the long way home' or go for drives just for the sake of it. At least, that's what i do! :)

Not to mention, ahem , Sebring wheels!

Well, could be making a tw#t of myself here, as not too up on the engine side of things, but....when i replaced all my cam followers a few months ago, put it all back together again, but the engine was really lumpy and would hardly run at all. After a bit of head scratching urned out the pipe (about 1" dia) which attaches on the rear right side of the cam cover was not on fully. As soon as i secured it fully with a clip the engine was back to normal instantly. Could be a red herring on my part, but worth a look.....and my gut instinct would be a non-electrical fault!

Scroll down a bit!  Seriously though, drop me a line and i'll email the piccies to you.......
